  • I was given a print of this film by the actor/director Steve (Hawkes) Sipek himself as an appreciation after I gave him some of my Hawkes-Tarzan transfers (they were released in different cuts across Europe). A lovely gesture from a very kind hearted man. May his soul be in a beautiful place. This movie was barely distributed, but it seems to have been sold to the asian market as I have seen a movie poster from there. The films portrays (as fiction) Steve's family and animal sanctuary until an authority decides they can't keep the animals, and their fight for a reunion with their animals begins. It's has an uncanny foreseeing into the future, given all that Steve was to encounter later on in his real life. I would say this is by far Steve's best movie as a director, and the one he put most effort into, despite its low budget. The soundtrack main theme (that I am sure was made exclusively for this movie) is one that sticks after you've heard it, a sad folk style song with a lion theme). Don't know if so many other copies are around, since Steve's movie collection was destroyed in a house fire - but I think there are a few other people who also were friends with Steve who might have a copy of this very rare feature length movie.
