  • Fashionable and shallow drama about the opening of the Austrian-Hungarian border in May 1989 and the East-German refugees caught in the German embassy in Hungary. The makers choose for the "Grand Hotel' formula, introducing a lot of characters of whom none is really elaborated. The director never gets real control of the material and the film simply rambles on without ever being a unity.

There is one feature here that could be a promise for the future: the cast includes Nina Hagen's daughter Cosma, who could well be the next German star (and a good relieve from Katja Riemann).
