The music played for the German officer in the film was actually an edit of Frédéric Chopin's Ballade No.1 in G Minor, (Op. 23, No. 1). In real life, Wladyslaw Szpilman played Chopin's Nocturne No.1 in C# Minor.
Wladyslaw Szpilman: Hello.
Dorota: Oh, I came specially to meet you. I love your playing.
Wladyslaw Szpilman: Who are you?
Dorota: My name is Dorota. I, I'm Jurek's sister... You're bleeding.
When the German officer slaps Szpilman's father, the officer is wearing gloves which would not have made a sharp sound.
Aside from the Universal and Focus Features credits, there are no opening credits. All credits, including the title, appear at the end of the film.
