This sad representation of independent cinema is far from resembling a story worth one's viewing time. STRIPPERS follows the story of Allen, who loses all of his money to the people that will 'strip' you of everything; that's where the interesting concepts stop. The unbelievable premise and story line are filled with hapless actors and plot diversions, one of which has the self-indulgent director making cameos as the goofy-inventor neighbor (the only fun sections of the film). Personally, the only thing worse than seeing a bad film is reading a review that sings praise for this direct to cable-access crap-fest. Beware of such reviews, noticing that the reviewer and the director just so happen to have the same initials (wink wink). For a full review, check out Variety's comments from Sept 2000.
