The story of Frank Abagnale Jr., before his 19th birthday, successfully forged millions of dollars' worth of checks while posing as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor, and legal prosecutor as a seasoned and dedicated FBI agent pursues him.
The first cut of the film was about eighty percent authentic, as quoted at the epilogue of Abagnale's book. Some scenes were corrected, added and changed as per request of the real Frank Abagnale, Jr. to ensure total authenticity.
Frank Abagnale, Jr.:
Dear Dad, you always told me that an honest man has nothing to fear, so I'm trying my best not to be afraid.
When Frank gets to Miami International Airport to wait for his fiancée, a car driven by a man wearing a hat stops right behind him. When Frank looks around searching for potential police, the door of the car behind is opening. In the next shot, the car behind him is gone.
In the closing credits, Brian Howe is listed as playing "Tom Fox" and Frank John Hughes is listed as playing "Earl Amdursky". However in the film, Howe played Amdursky and Hughes played Fox. However, this was corrected for the DVD release.
