  • This Canadian animated series about an adventurous young mouse growing up on Prince Edward Island is just impossible not to like. I catch it unexpectedly now and again when I have morning TV on, and each time I usually find myself thinking "This is too good for TV".

There's nothing that unusual about the show's formula. It's just something about the beautiful rural scenery of its setting, the way it manages to be warm and meaningful without being preachy or moralistic (I suspect its being Canadian has something to do with this), and the wonderfully drawn characters (anyone who remembers 'The Secret of NIMH' will feel they're having a pleasant, languorous flashback)

It's an old-style series that is wholesome in the genuinely good sense of the word. Great stuff.
