- In a small bordertown in southeastern Anatolia, Turkey in 1974, we follow the comedic lives of the townsfolk, as everything changes when Mayor Nazmi and Emin, the mad genius of the town, struggle to introduce a new technological device sent from the capital Ankara: a Television! Not only having difficulties to turn on this new machine, Emin and Nazmi, who crosses the interest of the local cinema owner, also have to fight off the stereotypical judgments of the locals, who can't pronounce the word television and think that this new apparatus will bring only misfortune. While we witness the lives of the contemporaries and the effect brought by television, we also obtain a chance to observe the sociopolitical state of Turkey in the 70s, with the youth being torn into rival right and left wings and the tension among the country on the brink of war for Cyprus.—aliemreozturk95
