Dave Allen's dreadful stand up show for BBC1 ended after one series in 1990. Three years later, it was resurrected by Carlton Television. Sadly, it was every bit as bad as the BBC show. The poor line up of crass, tenth rate gags were delivered flatly by the normally brilliant Allen.
As I said in my review of his BBC series, the problem with this show is down to the broadening of the humour. In 'Dave Allen At Large', the jokes, although daring for the time, were essentially light hearted. It is difficult to take the in your face crudeness from Allen here when it is not what one is accustomed to from him.
The show was not a success and thankfully ended after one series. Dave Allen never did a regular comedy show for television again. Such a waste of talent.
