Apple TV+ has ordered a series adaptation of Mick Herron’s “Down Cemetery Road” with Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson attached to star, Variety has learned.
This is now the second adaptation of Herron’s books to get the series treatment at Apple, with the other being the popular spy series “Slow Horses” starring Gary Oldman. Morwenna Banks, who is a writer on “Slow Horses,” will serve as lead writer on “Down Cemetery Road.”
The official logline of the new series states, “When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Tucker (Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Thompson). Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.”

There are not a lot of actors in Hollywood whose presence itself on-screen exudes badassery. Liam Neeson has carved a unique niche for himself in the film industry, where directors and producers look up to him for serious roles. From Schindler’s List to Batman Begins, the actor has carefully picked feathers for his cap that are a testament to his effervescent acting abilities.
However, he often goes offbeat and picks up projects that show off a different side to his demanding presence on the silver screen, like he is about to do in his upcoming The Naked Gun Reboot.

For countless fans of the romantic comedy, Hugh Grant will always be just a boy standing in front of a girl. But speaking with IndieWire for his single-episode guest appearance as Ed Keplinger in HBO’s “The Regime,” the 63-year-old British actor seemed blissfully out of touch with the genre that launched his stardom.
When asked about Hollywood’s rom-com resurgence, Grant said, “I didn’t know there was one. What should I watch?”
Since the summer that brought us “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “Crazy Rich Asians,” movies about meet-cutes and star-crossed lovers have strengthened their foothold in streaming while taking leaps forward at the box office. IndieWire suggested Grant try anything with Glen Powell, a standout rom-com stud also known for “Top Gun: Maverick” who has been described as this generation’s Grant on occasion.

Hollywood isn’t generally going great, even for experts like Hugh Grant. Recently, he spilled the beans on feeling nervous working with three highly coveted actresses. One of them is Kate Winslet, known for her mind-blowing acting chops, who caused the 63-year-old to feel a little jittery.

Then there’s Nicole Kidman, and Meryl Streep, two more stalwart entertainers who were included along with the remaining blend of nerves. These leading women certainly had Grant feeling the strain. It’s interesting to hear what the actor had to say about sharing the screen with these Hollywood symbols.

When it comes to grumpy but lovable men, Bill Nighy has it nailed. He plays Simon Pegg’s grumpy zombie step-dad in Shaun of the Dead with lovable charm, and washed-up grumpy rockstar Billy Mack in Love Actually, for which he won a Bafta for best supporting actor. In 2006, he won a Golden Globe for TV movie Gideon’s Daughter where he plays an, um, grumpy publicist on the verge of a nervous breakdown. British actress Emily Blunt has revealed that her ‘Oppenheimer’ director Christopher Nolan loves to “gossip”. The actress, who essayed the role of Kitty Oppenheimer — the wife of the American physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer — in the Oscar-nominated biopic, has shared that the 53-year-old filmmaker is nothing like what people would expect and is “so understated as a person,” reports ‘Female First UK’.
Speaking with Australia’s Who magazine, Emily said: “Someone calls and says he wants to meet, at which point you put a jetpack on, and you go, you run. His ideas are so vast, and they transcend your normal understanding of things. Maybe that’s what pins everyone to their seats, that sense of wonder he elicits in people. And yet he’s so understated as a person.”
The actress further mentioned, quoted by ‘Female First UK’: “He doesn’t walk around like this walking brain; he watches ‘Love Actually’ every year.

Did you forget that there's a reboot of the parody franchise "The Naked Gun" in the works at Paramount Pictures? Not only is the project still happening, but Paramount Pictures has announced an official release date for the comedy revamp: July 15, 2025. That means cameras should be rolling this year if they haven't already started production without us knowing.
"The Naked Gun" followed Leslie Nielsen as bumbling Los Angeles detective Frank Drebin as he encountered various plots of crime and intrigue, often getting into outlandish, slapstick situations. Based on the short-lived spoof series "The Police Squad!" that aired on ABC in 1982, the film series was infinitely more successful, resulting in two sequels that became solid box office hits. With all the nostalgia there is for rebooting previously successful titles, it was only a matter of time before Paramount circled back around to "The Naked Gun."

It’s February 2024, and we’ve got another The Walking Dead spinoff series, which, by now, has become the norm. But this one, titled The Ones Who Live, is special because it has the Goat The Walking Dead character at the center of it. Whether you’ve ever watched, played, or read The Walking Dead or not, if you’re into pop culture, then you’ve certainly heard of this one guy: Rick Grimes. Clearly the biggest name about the whole franchise, the character has already been immortalized on screen by British actor Andrew Lincoln—yes, the same guy from the once iconic Love Actually.
One of the biggest issues of the franchise in the later years was the fatigue of the audience, which was further felt when Lincoln left the mother show. Many stopped following it, including Lincoln himself, who has admitted that he didn’t keep up with Twd after his characters’ exit.

It was later reimagined in 2005 as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,...

Keira Knightley’s slender frame, sharp features, and expressive eyes give her a stunning presence on screen. She carries herself with grace and poise, even in gritty roles.
She debuted in a major film when she was just 12 years old, playing Sabé in Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace (1999).

Knightley got big roles, but it was Pirates of the Caribbean that made her a global star. In the first movie in 2003, she played Elizabeth Swann alongside Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom.
Yet, the fame wasn’t enough for the actress as she admitted to feeling “constrained” in her career after starring in the famous franchise.

Hugh Grant channeled his inner Oompa Loompa at the BAFTA Awards on Sunday night, where the “Wonka” actor was on hand to present the award for best director.
After taking the stage, Grant dryly recited a spoken-word version of his character’s song: “Oompa Loompa doompety dee/ now the best director category. Oompa Loompa doompety dong/ Most of these films were frankly too long. Oompa Loompa doompety dah/ But for some reason the nominees are…”
Grant then revealed the nominees: Andrew Haigh for “All of Us Strangers,” Justine Triet for “Anatomy of a Fall,” Alexander Payne for “The Holdovers,” Bradley Cooper for “Maestro,” Christopher Nolan for “Oppenheimer” and Jonathan Glazer for “The Zone of Interest.”
The award ended up going to Nolan, who used his speech to recognize the organizations who have “fought long and hard to reduce the number of nuclear weapons in the world.”

Actress Keira Knightley gained significant popularity in the 2000s and it’s hard to not talk about 2003’s Love Actually when we talk about her success. While the movie was very important for the actress’ career, Knightley has one regret: wearing a hat in a scene in the movie. It may have looked out of place but there was a particular reason why she wore it.

Knightley once revealed that she wore the hat in order to hide acne. It was natural for her as she was just a teenager back then, but she preferred the hat instead of makeup to cover the pimple. Love Actually made Knightley a household name and created bigger opportunities for the star.

There’s something uniquely cinematic about romantic comedies — something that makes them a natural fit for the movies and vice-versa. There’s an intoxicating alchemy that allows us to believe in the magic of meet-cutes, happily-ever-afters, and all the agonizing contrivances that tend to pop up between the two. Love it seems gives storytellers permission to transpose the stuff of operas and fables into the fabric of real (or at least overly glossed but still recognizable) life.
On paper, a film like “Pretty Woman” might be a retrograde fairy tale about a sex worker with a heart of gold and the rich businessman who can afford it, but the chemistry between Julia Roberts and Richard Gere is so explosive that you surrender to the sentiment of it all. Literally nothing in Richard Curtis’ “Love Actually” makes sense if you stop and think about it for even a few seconds. The...

Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts was feeling the love on the Valentine’s Day episode of the ABC program.
She’s been known to joke, tease, and banter with her GMA colleagues, including her fired-up interaction with one anchor about the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship.
However, things nearly became awkward as she put her co-anchors on the hot seat during a live TV segment on Wednesday.
Roberts was joined by Michael Strahan, who returned to GMA after a week away, and George Stephanopoulos, who continues to appear regularly on ABC’s show.
During one part of GMA, Roberts told her co-anchors she had an important question to ask them.
Strahan and Stephanopoulos wisely navigated being put on the hot seat, though.

“Love Actually” sucks indeed, both as that horrendous film directed by Richard Curtis from 2003, and as a real life experience that barely any of us was spared of. In the case of Scud's drama from 2011, there is also a third, literal interpretation of the title that is very nicely explained in a wedding video screened right at the beginning of the film. The wedding celebration that goes terribly wrong is a place where all film's protagonists who will later on indulge in different types of relationships, are gathered. We recognize their faces one by one as the story unfolds.

"The Walking Dead" is the cable franchise that just won't die. The saga that began in 2010 (or 2003 if you count the comic books that spawned it) has so far led to not one or two but six different spin-offs set within the same universe, a number that would be jaw-dropping even if AMC wasn't one of many media companies signing off on large-scale layoffs in recent years. At any rate, the latest spin-off is by far the most narratively promising, as it's set to answer burning questions fans (even those who quit watching ages ago) have about the show's most-loved couple.

“10 Lives,” an animated comedy set to premiere at Sundance, tells the story of a pampered cat called Beckett (voiced by British comedian Mo Gilligan) who undergoes a series of transformations – both physical and emotional – while learning a lesson about love.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

Actor Hugh Grant made a surprise appearance at the London borough of Hammersmith and Fulham’s Christmas Day Lunch event.
In photos from the event, Grant can be seen serving lunch to elderly residents in the community as the council gathered people who did not have family to celebrate Christmas with, reports People magazine.
Grant could be seen socialising with the event’s attendees and taking photos with residents during his visit, which a Hammersmith and Fulham council spokesperson said came as a Christmas surprise.
“Thanks to everyone who joined us at the annual Big H&f Christmas Day Lunch — including a very special guest, Hugh Grant”, said Councillor Ben Coleman, deputy leader of H&f. “Hugh helped us serve lunch to 500 local older people who otherwise would have celebrated alone. This was the real Love Actually.”
As per People, the event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

Some people might prefer to watch Peanuts or Love Actually at this time of year. All I want is this underrated and bizarre action film
There’s always a lot of conversation at this time of year surrounding what does and does not constitute a Christmas movie. For some folks, only James Stewart appreciating the joy of existence in It’s a Wonderful Life will do. Others want to watch the Peanuts gang in A Charlie Brown Christmas. Personally, I want to watch Dolph Lundgren fight an alien drug dealer and kick people in the face in Dark Angel.
This 1990 action film is an underrated piece of festive lunacy with an extremely fun if slightly overcomplicated plot, but there are a lot of stunts and explosions to smooth things over. If you doubt its festive credentials, the opening scene involves a guy crashing his car into a Christmas tree lot.

The short film is set 13 years after the events in Love Actually, and gives an update on quite a few of the characters throughout the film.

December 2003. Twenty years ago. It was a special time for moviegoers. That’s because it was the first holiday season in which “Love Actually” could actually be part of one’s Christmas time festivities. (Richard Curtis‘ ensemble romantic comedy was still playing to healthy crowds in cinemas.)
While the film would not figure into that year’s Academy Awards race, the cast did feature a handful of past Oscar contenders — and a few winners. Sho which “Love Actually” cast member will be next to earn an Oscar nomination?
The most noticeable of those winners was Emma Thompson, 1992’s Best Actress for “Howards End.” She tried (unsuccessfully) for acting awards three more times, including for 1995’s “Sense and Sensibility.” For penning that script, she accepted the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for superbly adapting the classic novel by Jane Austen.
The other “Love Actually” cast member with an Oscar in their possession was Billy Bob Thornton,...
