Although it may have fared enough to make up for any losses, Morbius is still unarguably one of the most critically panned movies of all time from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Despite holding hot talents like Michael Keaton, Tyrese Gibson, and Jared Leto, the film still underperformed among viewers because of things ranging from its storyline to the character arcs to not delivering perfectly.
Morbius (2022).
That being said, one of the major reasons why the film failed to serve its audience’s expectations was because it cut off some of those brutal scenes that could have garnered a lot of fan support. One of these included Gibson’s crazy fight scene as well, which was shown in the trailer but never made it to the final cut — something that inevitably left even the actor disappointed.

Ryan Gosling has been killing it on the career front with his performance in last year’s Barbie garnering much praise, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. He won hearts at the Oscars this year with his rendition of the Oscar-nominated song ‘I’m Just Ken’, with celebrities such as Emma Stone and Margot Robbie joining in on the fun.
However, one person who was not present was Gosling’s partner Eva Mendes. Though the actress was seen near Gosling’s dressing room, she was notably absent at the ceremony while the Barbie star was bringing down the roof with his performance. Now, an insider stated that the couple were headed for a breakup and that they had separate lives.

André 3000 stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in late January, during which he taped a “Colbert Questionert” segment that didn’t air until Thursday night (February 8th). During the series of questions, the rapper-turned-flutist revealed some interesting tidbits, including how he nearly joined the Fast and Furious family and once killed an ant farm.
After André couldn’t come up with a favorite action movie, Colbert probed him on why he hasn’t been in a Fast and Furious film, saying, “I could see you driving a fast car, off a cliff or something into a boat.”
In response, André said that he actually auditioned for the franchise, but another Atlanta rapper took his spot. “I would have, but I think Ludacris took the role,” he explained. “I actually tried out. I tried out for Fast and Furious and Ludacris actually took the role.”

Although today we think of the "Fast and Furious" movies as a massively successful, popular franchise, it's worth remembering that its roots were fairly humble. The 2001 movie "The Fast and the Furious" was mostly small-scale and self-contained, focusing almost entirely on Paul Walker's Brian, who works as an undercover cop and discovers an unlikely friendship with the noble criminal Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). The movie enjoyed a good (but not amazing) box office performance and received less-than-stellar reviews. Odds were, it would probably get one or two sequels max before it faded into irrelevancy.
But even before critics started bashing the movie for being "'Rebel Without a Cause' without a cause," there were still plenty of reasons for the relatively unknown Paul Walker to be concerned about the project. When he first signed onto it in 1998, "The Fast and the Furious" didn't even have a screenplay, and...

With 10 entries in the core franchise (and one spin-off), Fast & Furious has worked hard to up the action throughout, often taking it to the extreme with its over-the-top sequences and stunts. Let’s see, there have been skyscraper jumps, bank vault heists (and chases), aircraft carriers pulled out of the sky, and even a trip to space! But with the upcoming Fast 11, the filmmakers are looking to ground the series a bit…and not with grappling hooks.
According to The InSneider (via ComingSoon), Fast 11 will take a “lean and mean” approach. One thing being trimmed is the budget, which is said to not exceed $200 million. That’s still one hell of a budget but considering Fast X’s was pegged at $340 million (10 times the amount as 2001’s original), that’s a lot of shredded cash. Another aspect that will change with Fast 11 is toning down the constant travel of the crew,...

Fast & Furious 11 is reportedly going back to basics with a measly budget of $200 million. More details here.
The 11th Fast & Furious film, which is currently slated for release in 2025, is reportedly Vin Diesel’s last as Dominic Toretto. Aside from 2 Fast 2 Furious, Diesel has appeared in every other Fast & Furious film, including a cameo in Tokyo Drift.
The news comes from industry insider Jeff Sneider (spotted by World Of Reel). Sneider’s report also mentions that the next film will be a considerably more scaled back effort, with a budget of only $200 million.
Of course, the words ‘only’ and ‘$200 million’ don’t usually go together, but considering the budget for Fast X was reportedly $340 million, it’s a pretty big cut. Then again, Fast X received middling to negative reviews and grossed $714 million worldwide, which wasn’t quite enough to make the film profitable. You can...

The "Fast & Furious" movies just haven't been the same since Paul Walker died. Oh sure, it's been entertaining watching the series relentlessly try to top itself (even sending its heroes to space for real) and later additions John Cena and Jason Momoa have helped inject some fresh energy into the Fast Saga's increasingly strained machinery. But Walker was always the heart and soul of these films. Without him, they just ring hollow.
Vin Diesel, whose offscreen conduct has overshadowed his contributions to these movies of late, needed Walker to play off of. The brotherhood that formed between their characters -- law-breaking street racer Dominic Toretto and undercover police officer Brian O'Conner -- in the original "The Fast and the Furious" extended to the actors' relationship in real life. As much as The Fast Saga has desperately tried to sell audiences on the "epic" romance between Dom and Letty Ortiz...

The "Fast & Furious" saga is some of the most fun you can have with a movie franchise. Where most Hollywood properties make empty promises about diversity and inclusiveness, this is a franchise so diverse it actually just makes every actor in Hollywood Latino whether they want to be or not (in a good way). Sure, on the surface they seem like silly movies about cars and scantily-clad women looking at cars, but it is that -- and so much more.
Part of the ridiculous allure of this franchise is how earnest it is. The theme of family is more than a meme, it's the movie series' driving force. And then there's the nonsensical timeline and naming conventions for these films, which make them a hilarious puzzle to try and figure out. The timeline circles back on a whim, constantly re-contextualizing previous events and introducing and reintroducing characters and plot...

Some might say they don’t want a lot for Christmas, but who’s going to turn down a Christmas movie starring rapper-actor Chris “Ludacris” Bridges and comedian Lil Rel Howery?
Directed by Tim Story, and produced by Will Packer’s Will Packer Productions, comes the comedic fantasy film “Dashing Through the Snow,” which carries the title of the classic Christmas jingle “Dashing Through the Snow (Jingle Bells).”
In the lighthearted tale, Bridges stars as Eddie Garrick, a social worker who no longer believes in the magic of Christmas due to a traumatic childhood experience. But, with the help of his Christmas-loving daughter Charlotte (Madison Skye Validum) and good ol’ Saint Nick — who just goes by Nick (Lil Rel Howery) — the group is on a mission to restore Eddie’s faith in Christmas while evading wicked politician Conrad Harf (Oscar Nuñez).

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges never planned on being an actor when he started his rap career during the late ’90s. He attributes his successful transition from music to acting to late writer-director John Singleton, who gave him his breakout role as Tej Parker in the “The Fast and the Furious” (2001) sequel “2 Fast 2 Furious” (2003).
During a discussion about his new role as Eddie Garrick in Disney+’s new Christmas movie “Dashing Through the Snow,” Bridges discussed his more than 20-year career as an actor, and how acting initially was never “part of the plan.”
While his debut role was playing an unsatisfied customer in record producer and filmmaker DJ Pooh’s comedy “The Wash” (2001), it wasn’t until Singleton cast him as a former street racer and mechanic that his acting career went full speed ahead.

The Fast & Furious movies saga, a robust international action series created by Gary Scott Thompson, has proven to be much more than its humble beginnings as a street racing storyline in 2001. Who would have predicted the evolution from gritty street races to the cinematic spectacle of dragging bank vaults across the asphalt, airborne cars, submarine escapes, and speculative alien encounters? However, following the franchise’s timeline can feel like being in a high-speed chase.

As a co-writer of 2001’s “The Fast and the Furious,” David Ayer helped launch one of the highest-grossing film franchises of all time. Yet, the “Suicide Squad” and “End of Watch” director says he has “nothing to show” for his contributions to Universal Pictures’ high-octane racing series.
“Biggest franchise in Hollywood, and I don’t have any of it,” Ayer said on a recent episode of Jon Bernthal’s “Real Ones” podcast (via EW). “I got nothing to show for it, nothing, because of the way the business works.”
With 10 mainline movies plus a “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff, the “Fast & Furious” franchise has grossed over $7 billion. A follow-up to 2023’s “Fast X,” as well as another standalone movie focused on Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs, are already in the works.

When Universal Pictures released The Fast and the Furious in the summer of 2001, no one could have predicted that it would give birth to a franchise that’s grossed over $7 billion worldwide. It’s a juggernaut that’s still got plenty of fuel in the tank, with Fast X making over $700 million worldwide (and counting) while other franchises struggle to keep up.
Here, we look back at the franchise’s early days, when the Fast Saga was still considered low-key, perhaps even low-rent by some, with the movies modestly budgeted and aimed mainly at the youth market. After two sequels apart, the Fast and Furious family is reunited in the fourth film. Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, the gang’s all here. And yes, they’re racing cars once again… but this time the stakes are life or death. We’re going back to 2009 to talk about Fast & Furious (watch it Here) for this episode of Revisited.
Universal tried something different with the third film in the Fast and Furious franchise. Rather than make it a direct follow-up to the previous films, they brought in new characters. Teenagers they thought would be more appealing to the youth market. They got a decent movie out of it, but not a lot of pay-off. Tokyo...

When it comes to movie soundtracks, the Fast & Furious franchise excels. Over 22 years and 10 movies, the franchise has produced countless musical hits tied to its films. From classics like "2 Fast 2 Furious"'s "Act a Fool" by Ludacris and "Fast & Furious"'s "Blanco" by Pitbull and Pharrell to the more emotional offerings like "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth from "Furious 7," there's a Fast & Furious franchise hit for fans of any musical genre.
The franchise added another standout track to its roster with the May 18 release of "Angel Pt. 1." The song featured a lineup of musical artists from all different corners of the music industry: Nle Choppa, Kodak Black, BTS's Jimin, Jvke, and Muni Long. The music video featured high-octane clips from "Fast X" interspersed with the artists performing their verses passionately.

Intro: Universal had a hit franchise on their hands with The Fast and the Furious. They just weren’t quite sure what to do with it. That uncertainty is how we get the third film in the franchise. The one that jettisoned almost all connection to the previous two in favor of introducing new characters. Telling a story about an outsider who finds new friends – and love – in the world of racing. It’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (watch it Here), and it’s about to be Revisited.

Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise has reached a new milestone, spinning past $7B at the global box office. Getting there, it becomes the fifth series of films to pass the mark, doing so with 11 titles. It’s currently the No. 5 franchise of all time, and is tied with Warner Bros’ Wizarding World for the fewest number of movies to get to $7B in the Top 5.
Over the long course of the Toretto family saga which began in 2001, there has mostly been steady growth, particularly from 2009 through to the changeable pandemic era.
The split on all 11 movies, which includes Hobbs & Shaw, is $1.946B domestic, $5.083B overseas and $7.03B worldwide.
Meanwhile, Universal, including Focus titles, has edged the $1B mark at the domestic box office wirh $1,018B+ through Thursday. This is the quickest that Uni has gotten to $1B in North America in at least the past 10 years; it’s...

While Dom may be the face of the "Fast and Furious" franchise, Brian O'Conner was its heart and soul. From the very first movie, Brian was our way into the world of racing: He was the protagonist we followed, the baby-faced hero who defied orders and chose family over duty, letting Dom escape in the movie's final moments. When Vin Diesel refused to do a sequel, Brian was in the spotlight in "2 Fast 2 Furious," which still holds up remarkably well without Diesel, especially compared to how these films hold up when Brian is absent.
Even when the whole family reunited in "Fast Five" and we got more characters than ever, Brian continued to be an essential part of the team, serving as a counterpart to Dom. He was the former cop who knew how to catch criminals, and who kept the franchise grounded while Dom slowly became a borderline superhuman comic book character.

Many movies are only as good as their villain. So it goes with the "Fast and Furious" franchise that has somehow managed to produce 11 films (and counting) despite lukewarm success in the bad guy category. Our heroes, led by Vin Diesel's fearless Dominic Toretto, have gone toe-to-toe with a staggering collection of veteran actors with mixed results, often achieving victory relatively quickly in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Thankfully, a handful of notable evil-doers in the "Fast Saga" stand out amongst the fleet and punch above the script on the way to bad-guy glory. With the new "Fast X" driving over box office records, we thought it'd be prudent to run through the entire series and separate the villains who kicked it into fifth gear from those stuck on neutral. This post contains spoilers for "Fast X."
It is the beginning of the end for the Fast Saga as "Fast X" has hit theaters, serving as the first part in what will be a two-film finale to the long-running series. Though Vin Diesel has indicated that it could turn into a trilogy. In any event, Universal Pictures is beginning to wind things down with Dom Toretto and the gang. As expected, that means a lot of familiar faces from the past are going to reappear before all is said and done. But one wildly unexpected face did make a return, albeit in a very "blink and you'll miss it" sort of way. Depending on how things shake out, it does suggest a possible, more meaningful return in "Fast & Furious 11."

The entire “The Fast and Furious” universe consists of 13 installments: 10 movies, one show and two short films. The world of fast cars, illegal street racing and iconic beefs was created by Gary Scott Thompson. The writer, director and producer kicked off the franchise with the first film “The Fast and the Furious,” which was directed by Rob Cohen, with a story by Thompson and Ken Li.
The first film in what would become a country-hopping international franchise, starred Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Matt Schulze and Ricky Yune and more. “The Fast and the Furious” told the story of Dominic Toretto (Diesel), who has a passion and drive for street racing, and after a run-in with Johnny Tran (Yune), he takes racing newcomer Brian (Walker) under his wing. The "Fast and Furious" saga is one of Hollywood's purest movie franchises, one that understands the primordial appeal of exciting spectacle, dumb plots, and larger-than-life characters, as well as earnest melodrama and a focus on family that other franchises simply can't replicate.
This is also a movie franchise unafraid to reinvent itself, to destroy its continuity for the sake of a better story and spectacle. The only rule in these movies is the rule of cool. Because of how often the franchise is retentive while also retconning itself, each movie's villain is as different as they can be from each other.
And yet, there are two clear camps when it comes to "Fast and Furious" baddies. There are the ones with a personal vendetta against Dominic Toretto or the "fambly," and then there's everyone else. The thing is, time and time again, the franchise has made it clear that the...

If you have only a passing familiarity with the "Fast and Furious" universe, you might be under the impression that the franchise's timeline is pretty straightforward. You'd be wrong. When the first film in the series came roaring onto our screens back in 2001, the plot was straightforward: A street racer, his girlfriend, and his sister make friends with the new kid on the block, only to find out he's an undercover cop. Shakespearean drama and betrayals of the highest order ensue, along with a whole lot of car chases.
As the franchise expanded and introduced more characters, however, things got more complicated. Over the next 20 years, the series' continuity expanded to include short films, an unofficial prequel, characters who were killed off and resurrected, and a totally retconned timeline. From the third film on — which is, of course, not the third movie chronologically — it all becomes fairly difficult to follow.

In November 2001, Ludacris was set to release his third album, “Word of Mouf.” At the same time, however, his debut on film, “The Wash,” was also about to hit theaters. Luda’s role in the DJ Pooh-directed comedy starring Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg was small. But “The Wash,” along with his goofball antics in several of his music videos, put Luda in front of major league filmmakers such as the late John Singleton and Paul Haggis. In back-to-back films, the rapper became a movie star as Tej Parker in 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious,” followed in 2004 by the Oscar-winning “Crash.” Some 30 more movies would follow.
“The theatricality of my videos, my image — it was a bit of transition, going into acting, playing myself playing the Ludacris persona,” says Luda, credited in film as Chris Bridges. “But ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ was a great way to start, because the year after was when ‘Crash’ came along.

It’s good to be Ludacris. Twenty years after his first appearance in the “Fast and Furious” action-adventure franchise, 2003’s “2 Fast 2 Furious,” the Atlanta rapper and actor is set to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame the same week “Fast X” premieres. Such attention is nothing new to Chris “Ludacris” Bridges. As an artist, he’s sold more than 24 million albums worldwide since he began making music with 1999’s independent “Incognegro.” From there, it was on to a Def Jam contract and mainstream fame with such hits as “Act a Fool” and “Stand Up,” plus collaborations such as his 2004 feature alongside Lil Jon on Usher’s “Yeah!”
For a guy who hasn’t made a new album since 2015, the “Dirty South” rapper is jump-starting his schedule with just-booked music gigs in Miami Beach in May, and Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Weekend at the Resorts World Las Vegas in July.

As Dominic Toretto (played with muscle-y esteem by Vin Diesel) once said, "I live my life a quarter-mile at a time." When 2001's "The Fast and the Furious" came out, this sentiment referred to Dom's love of street racing. But on the eve of the premiere of "Fast X," the 10th entry in the series, perhaps Dom should've said he lives his life a quarter-century at a time.
The release of "Fast X" marks 22 glorious years of the "Fast" saga, and as the 25-year mark approaches, it seems that Diesel and company are eager to give their long-running franchise a big, splashy final act. Because the "Fast" films are not based on any pre-existing source material, the journey from each movie to the next has been thrillingly unpredictable as the Torettos and their extended family reach bigger and crazier heights.

Not only are there few franchises bigger in the history of popular cinema than "Fast & Furious," but the so-called Fast Saga may also be the most unlikely multi-billion-dollar enterprise that Hollywood has ever created. A series of movies about street racing and (relatively) petty crime miraculously morphed into a grand, globe-trotting saga boasting an A-list ensemble cast of talent. For years, the tip of that pyramid was doubly headed up by Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto and Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor, dating back to 2001's "The Fast and the Furious."
Sadly, Walker passed away during the production of 2015's "Furious 7," marking the end of an incredibly promising career far too soon. But the saying "the show must go on" certainly applied here, with Dom and the gang soldiering on without Walker's Brian O'Connor in the years since the actor's tragic death. "Fast X," which is set to hit theaters on May 19, will mark the beginning of the end of the Fast and Furious franchise. Initially, the series was meant to wrap up with a two-part finale. However, at the "Fast X" premiere in Rome, Italy, on May 12, Vin Diesel, who's led the franchise as Dominic Toretto since 2001, teased the movies could end with a trilogy instead. Although he didn't officially confirm or deny anything, his co-star Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz) fueled the rumors by telling Fandango, "It's three acts in any story."
If it's true, then the series will officially end after 13 movies. Castmembers like Diesel, Rodriguez, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris have starred in the majority of the "Fast and Furious" films, while Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham led the 2019 spinoff film "Hobbs & Shaw." With 2001's "The Fast and the Furious," a franchise that loves badass (and illegal) street races and fast cars was birthed. We've come a long way since the first film that started it all — since Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) raced together to dodge a fast-approaching train, the stakes have only gotten bigger, with the fate of the franchise's world being at stake. There's something larger-than-life about the increasingly audacious set pieces in the "Fast & Furious" franchise, which loves all vehicles apart from the cars it loves to race, drift, and launch into the air to perform near-impossible stunts. Ludicrous action scenes are thrown into the mix, including an old Pontiac Fiero being hurled into space while two characters are still inside in "F9." How a long-enduring franchise managed to jump from cool-as-heck, ground-level street racing to vehicles crashing into a satellite in space is mind-boggling.

"Fast & Furious" is one of our greatest movie franchises, one that isn't afraid to let go of continuity for the sake of reinventing itself. Perhaps more than any other series of movies — other than "Mission: Impossible" — the "Fast & Furious" films are guided by only one principle: the rule of cool. Whether that's racing a submarine, driving on an endless airport runway, or literally going to space, there is no limit to what the family can do.

Even the greatest family reunions have to eventually come to an end, and that final turn in the road is within sight. While next week’s hotly anticipated Fast X will not be the actual conclusion to the epic Fast & Furious saga, it will lead directly into the 11th mainline film—aka the supposed last ride with Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto behind the wheel.
It’s been a long and winding trip, beginning nearly a quarter-century ago with quarter-mile races paid for by the theft of DVD players. No really, go back and watch The Fast and the Furious (2001), preferably on an old-fashioned 480p laser disc. The series of course evolved a lot after that, adding key extended family members like Roman (Tyrese Gibson) in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Ludicrous as Tej in the same film. Although what might be telling about Fast X is who isn’t there.

Vin Diesel had CinemaCon audiences worked up, laughing and cheering with off-script moments as he thanked theater owners for their work over the years on the Fast and Furious saga.
“I should be reading from the teleprompter. But you guys don’t give a shit about the teleprompter,” Diesel said to applause during a slow, methodical speech in which he waxed philosophical about the values of family and his love for theaters. At one point, he mockingly read the rather trite words he was supposed to deliver, something about Fast picking up the mantle while Avengers rested and Star Wars put down the lightsaber. More laughs and cheers from the crowd ensued.

A film becoming a cult classic is never a guarantee. Some movies have all the makings of cult classics but then end up having so much mainstream appeal that they just become classic classics instead (see: John Wick). Other movies are made with the sincerest aspirations to quality only to become fan favorites when they fall well short (see: The Room).
Still, many more films appear to have all the elements in play for cult classicdom but inevitably end up in a DVD bargain bin or streaming service backpage all the same. Most of them deserve such a fate. After all, not everything needs a fandom. Some, however, deserve a second look. A prime example is John Singleton’s 2005 action film Four Brothers.

In the 2000 film "Pitch Black," star Vin Diesel plays a convict being transported to a prison on a spaceship when it's damaged and lands on a desert planet. Though it looks deserted and continually bathed in light, there are dangerous creatures there that come out only in the dark. That would be fine ... if an eclipse wasn't happening. The crew and passengers, including an Imam and his followers, a person looking for a new home, a bounty hunter, and an antique dealer, now have to fight off these creatures, and not everyone survives.
The film was a sleeper hit, making $53 million worldwide on a $23 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. The film spawned two sequels, "The Chronicles of Riddick" in 2004 and "Riddick" in 2013. Both films also starred Diesel, with David Twohy directing all three. According to a 2002 story from Variety, Twohy wasn't originally going to direct the sequels, but...

Paul Walker enjoyed a lengthy career in Hollywood that carried him through various roles in several unique movies before his unfortunate death in 2013 at just 40 years old. Fans likely remember him best as Brian O'Conner in the "Fast and Furious" franchise, but the talented and handsome actor also appeared in critical hits such as "Pleasantville," "Joy Ride," and Clint Eastwood's "Flags of Our Fathers," and served as executive producer on the films "Vehicle 19," "Hours," and "Pawn Shop Chronicles." He even enjoyed a guest spot on National Geographic's "Expedition Great White" in 2009.
In his youth, Walker popped up in a variety of high-profile TV shows, among them "Highway to Heaven," "Charles in Charge," "Who's the Boss," and "Touched by an Angel," before making the leap to schlocky B-movie horror films such as "Tammy and the Rex," opposite Denise Richards, in which his character's brain somehow lands inside a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Despite the 10 films under the "Fast & Furious" banner — each at varying levels of quality — the franchise's first sequel, "2 Fast 2 Furious," is still something of a black sheep within the saga. A lot of it has to do with the wild change in locale, which pivoted from Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) Nos-fueled thieving in Los Angeles to follow the street racing scene in Miami with Brian O'Conner (Paul Walker). Compared to the grounded thrills of its predecessor — and the American muscle that supported a lot of that action — "2 Fast" felt like a completely different world. Fortunately, director John Singleton wasted absolutely no time immersing us in that world and introducing audiences to the custom-painted imports, campy Y2K threads, and memorable characters that lived in it.
