With its list of new releases for September 2022, Prime Video is finally unveiling the most anticipated (and expensive) series in the streamer’s history.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will arrive to Prime Video’s servers on Sept. 2, 2022. This Lord of the Rings prequel, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s Second Age, is in many ways the kind of TV property that Prime Video must have always wanted. It’s certainly the TV property most fitting with the company’s largesse and riches. The Rings of Power will cover the creation of the titular rings and many important events from Tolkien’s lore (condensed into a more TV-appropriate timeframe).
Middle-earth is going to be the happening spot on Amazon and the streaming world at large this month, but Prime Video does have a handful of other originals for the fantasy-phobic. Flight/Risk, a documentary about the Boeing 737 Max design disasters,...

September usually means the beginning of the traditional fall TV season. As such, Hulu’s list of new releases for September 2021 contains some impressive TV swings.
For starters, all of ABC and Fox’s (both now united under the Disney banner alongside Hulu) fall season offerings will be made available to stream on Hulu the next day. More impressively, however, two FX on Hulu originals make their way to the streaming world this month.
The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the classic comic Y: The Last Man. The story of a virus that destroys every mammal with a Y-chromosome (save for one escape artist and his monkey) is set to premiere on September 13. Shortly after that, the B.J. Novak-produced anthology series The Premise arrives on September 16. Even those who are fatigued from timely anthology concepts will want to check this one out.

Exclusive: Dennis Quaid has signed on to star in The Hill, a family drama penned by Angelo Pizzo and the late Scott Marshall Smith, who passed away in December.
The film will tell the true story of Rickey Hill, a kid who overcame his physical disability to play professional baseball. Given the complexities Rickey faced in his relationship with his father, his is a story about more than just athletics. It’s also a story about family, and what one young man can do to follow his dream.
Quaid will portray Rickey’s father, Pastor Hill, an instinctively protective man who doesn’t want his son to go out into the world to pursue his dream, fearing that he’ll get ridiculed for his disability. Ultimately, Hill’s tough exterior is broken as Rickey grows up and proves his natural ability.
Jeff Celentano is directing the film, cast by Rick Montgomery (Green Book), which will go before cameras in Georgia in November.
He’s also producing alongside Warren Ostergard, with Matthew Dwyer, Michael Hollingsworth, Michael Blubaugh and Rickey Hill serving as exec producers.
The rest of the film’s cast has not yet been announced.
“I’m setting out to make an iconic film in the classic sense, a beautiful sweeping and powerful inspirational story. One that will stand the test of time like Blindside, Rudy, Field of Dreams and The Natural. Dennis was the first and only person I thought of for the lead role upon reading the script,” said Celentano. “There’s no doubt in my mind that he has the ability to play a loving, caring father while at the same time a staunch, powerful man – all the qualities needed to bring Pastor Hill’s character to life.”
“Since the 1970s in particular, the sports film has gained increasing recognition as one of the most important and popular genres in contemporary cinema,” added Quaid. “I couldn’t be more excited about this project. This film will no doubt further validate the power of American social mobility and show that in America you can choose to be what you want.”
Quaid is an Emmy nominee and two-time Golden Globe nominee best known on the film side for turns in Yours, Mine & Ours, In Good Company, The Day After Tomorrow, Cold Creek Manor, Far from Heaven, The Rookie, Wyatt Earp, Postcards from the Edge and other titles.
The actor’s recent TV credits include Netflix’s Merry Happy Whatever, Amazon’s Goliath and Fortitude, and Crackle’s The Art of More.
He’ll next appear in Alex Ranarivelo’s Born a Champion, Julio Quintana’s Blue Miracle, Andrew and Jon Erwin’s American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story, Ray Giarratana’s The Tiger Rising, Sean McNamara’s Reagan, in which he’ll play the actor-turned president, and more.
Quaid is represented by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

When you have to go, you have to go. Just ask Stephen Dorff.
The actor, who has starred in movies like "Blade," "Cold Creek Manor" and Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere," was spotted urinating on Hollywood Boulevard on Wednesday night. Dorff, 39, took advantage of an unsuspecting bush outside the Hollywood Roosevelt, according to E! News.
Click here to see the photo of Dorff in action (Sfw).
When the photographer who managed to catch him in action approached the actor, Dorff said he was "trying to pee, thank you very much."
Dorff is not the only actor to be caught midstream recently. He joins the ranks of Bronson Pelletier, Emile Hirsch and Gérard Depardieu.

Another Friday has passed and that means two titles never before released on DVD have been announced by the Scream Factory. You may not remember The Vagrant but odds are you remember The Horror Show and have been wondering if it would ever see the light of day again.
The big title of this week’s Scream Factory announcement is unquestionably The Horror Show, or as it is known in some foreign circles, House III. I never understood how anyone came to the conclusion that film could be released as a third installment of the House franchise, but then I also have never understood how a movie about killer radioactive tree roots could be marketed as Troll 3.
In much the same way Hollywood gave us dueling volcano films (Volcano and Dante’s Peak) and dueling celestial doomsday flicks (Armageddon and Deep Impact), 1989 saw the release of dueling fright flicks about...

It’s hard to tell who Cold Creek Manor detests more: the spoiled, out-of-touch, yuppies it clearly delights in taking down a peg, or the impoverished, rural population whose very existence presents a violent threat to hearth and home. Social politics aside, it’s hard to imagine who this watered-down throwback to Straw Dogs was meant to appeal to, though it certainly can’t be fans of well-crafted, engaging thrillers. Slick but predictable, violent but bloodless, Manor unfortunately falls in a category of early-aughts thrillers afraid to get its hands dirty.

Moviefone's Pick of the Week "The Five-Year Engagement" What's It About? Jason Segel and Emily Blunt play a happily devoted couple whose impending nuptials keep getting delayed by her rising career. See It Because: Segel re-teams with his "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" co-writer and director for another romantic comedy that's very R-rated. It's a little too long, but with a supporting cast including players from "The Office," "Parks & Rec," "30 Rock" and "Community," it's pretty much an all-star team of funny people. (Also Available on Amazon Instant Video) New on DVD & Blu-ray "High School" What's It About? An MIT-bound star scholar tries weed for the first time, the night before his psycho principal (Michael Chiklis) imposes a school-wide drug test. In order to get away with his crime, he concocts a ridiculous plan to get the entire school stoned -- with the help of even more psycho dealer (Adrien Brody). In the end,...

On the Road movie reedited for Toronto screening Based on Jack Kerouac's '50s novel, Walter Salles' Otr adaptation starring Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley, and Kristen Stewart (above photo) will be screened at the upcoming Toronto Film Festival. We all knew that. What we didn't know is that Tiff 2012 will unveil a new cut of the film (via indieWIRE), which premiered last spring at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed reviews. The 2hr20m drama has been downsized to approximately 125 minutes. That's an interesting development, as Otr has already been screened in several countries, with varying degrees of box-office success. [Check out the On the Road trailer. Check out Kristen Stewart On the Road poster; Garrett Hedlund On the Road poster.] Otr movie reedit hardly unique On the other hand, different cuts shown in different countries is hardly something new. Whether as a result of poor critical/box-office reception, (perceived) local sensibilities, and/or censorship, the movie you watch in, say, Canada isn't necessarily the exact same movie watched by someone in Singapore,...

Stephen Dorff is an actor that deserves a better career as a second banana. He’s not a terrible performer, but he’s not a superstar, either. He lives in that weird middle ground occupied by talented dudes like Roy Scheider, James Spader, William H. Macy and Steve Buscemi. Not bad company to be in. Memorable performances in stuff like Blade and Cold Creek Manor have led to a career of B-movies and underutilization. It’d be nice to see Dorff find his way into higher-profile stuff, or, at least, more stuff like Brake.
Similar in concept to the Ryan Reynolds film Buried, Brake is the story of Jeremy Reins, a secret service agent trapped in a plastic box in the trunk of a car. It seems like these days the possibilities are endless in how film fans can enjoy their favorites at home, from renting through Netflix to downloading online via Amazon. But perhaps the most rewarding format – well, for this old-fashioned guy, at least – is to purchase the movie on Blu-ray. While many major studios – including Disney – have generally decreased the amount of bonus features and other special content offered on home video, this company consistently delivers an overall strong value to their Blu-ray releases. In this edition of the Mouse House, I’ll as share some thoughts on yet-to-be-released Blu-ray offerings.
Coming Soon (Announced)
Recently Disney announced over 30 titles from their library – some of them classics, others surprisingly forgettable – to be released on Blu-ray for the first time this year. Many also hold the title of “anniversary” editions, celebrating 10, 15, 20 years or more since their original debuts.

Stv Productions announced director Mike Figgis will direct the drama “Seconds of Pleasure” during the American Film Market event this weekend. In addition, Myriad Pictures acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the film outside of the United Kingdom. Figgis’ directorial filmography included films such as “Cold Creek Manor,” “Timecode,” and “Leaving Las Vegas.” The screenplay will be written by Neil Labute, which was based on a book of short stories published under the same title. The cast will include actors Matt Dillon, Julia Stiles, Brendan Fraser, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Hendrix. The film is about the intertwined stories of six different couples. “We immediately responded to Neil’s script, which is razor-sharp, so insightful and honest, about the real challenges and temptations of people face every day,” said Myriad Pictures CEO Kirk D’Amico to THR. “Mike Figgis is the perfect director to bring this script to life, especially with this extraordinary cast.

One of young Hollywood's brightest stars and biggest talents, Stewart has become famous around the world since landing her break-out role as Bella Swan in the hugely popular Twilight franchise.
Born into a showbiz family, Stewart dreamed of becoming a writer or director, but her debut playing Jodie Foster's daughter in 2002 film Panic Room put her firmly on the path to stardom.
In between her Twilight outings, Stewart has played a stripper and a rock star, added a haul of trophies to her mantel and kept fans guessing over her rumoured romance with co-star Robert Pattinson.
To celebrate her 21st birthday, WENN has uncovered 10 facts about Stewart that may have passed you by:
- Stewart was born in Los Angeles but is actually half-Australian - her mum originally hails from Maroochydore in Queensland.
- The actress has a musical side - she wrote the track Tracy's Song for her movie Into The Wild and can be heard singing it on the soundtrack.
- Her part in Panic Room originally belonged to Hayden Panettiere. The film was recast when Nicole Kidman was forced to pull out of the lead role due to an injury sustained filming Moulin Rouge!
- She has amassed a reported $25 million (£16.7 million) fortune from her role in the vampire saga.
- Stewart struck up a friendship with Joan Jett to play the rocker in last year's The Runaways biopic, about the 1970s all-girl band.
- She shares her birthday with Dennis Quaid, who played her dad in Cold Creek Manor, as well as Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon and Playboy boss Hugh Hefner.
- She traded vamps for tramps in her saucy movie Welcome to the Rileys, in which she played a young lap dancer who offers to service The Sopranos star James Gandolfini.
- She and Pattinson have repeatedly refused to confirm reports of a romance but they've fuelled speculation by ringing in both 2010 and 2011 in Britain's Isle of Wight.
- Fans love Pattinson and Stewart's onscreen chemistry - the couple has taken home the Best Kiss trophy at the MTV Movie Awards twice.
- Stewart counts her Twilight co-stars Nikki Reed and Dakota Fanning among her closest friends.

Briefly: The last time we reported [1] on Seconds of Pleasure, the film had just cast Brendan Fraser and was set to be directed by Neil Labute. But things have changed. Neil Labute's script is still in play, but now Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas, Cold Creek Manor) will direct the movie. Brendan Fraser is still part of the cast, and now Christina Hendricks has signed on, too. Deadline [2] says "he story takes place on an airplane and connects the lives of people on the plane through vignettes." Christina Hendricks and Brendan Fraser will be husband and wife; he gets caught in a 'compromising position.' Also in the cast are Julia Stiles, Matt Dillon and Kristen Scott Thomas. That's a pretty solid cast, so even though we know no more about the script than what is above, this could be a production worth keeping an eye on. And after...

Thanks to James Woods, we can now know when Kristen Stewart will be tackling American Girl, next year after production wraps for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
While on the red carpet for the NYC screening of Welcome To The Rileys this weekend, Woods talked about his choice in casting Stewart for the role to MTV.
Her original involvement came before she was famous for the Twilight series, and she has been steadfast and true in her committment . . . which did not surprise me because when I started working with her on the script, she was so insightful - at the time, she was I think like eighteen or something - and I felt . . . I talked to both Sean Penn and to Dennis Quaid, and they both worked with her . . . I remember Dennis when he was working with her...

Rumor has it, Kristen Stewart is going to broaden her acting career beyond the big screen. She apparently is tempted by London producers to make her debut on London's Broadway stage, the West End. Noting that no play has been decided, the Daily Mail reported that she had met one producer and director who offered her a list of plays to read.
Though the 20-year-old will have a bustling schedule due to "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn" and "On the Road", she once hinted that she is interested to take on the West End stage after seeing Eddie Redmayne performed in "Red" at Donmar Warehouse. "Unlike movie acting, you have to deliver the whole performance there and then. You live it every night," she told Vogue magazine.

Kristen Stewart may be an international superstar thanks to her role as Bella Swan in The Twilight Saga, but she actually had critics and moviegoers singing her praises well before Twilight (2008) exploded into theaters. Born to John and Jules-Mann Stewart on April 9, 1990, Stewart kicked off her acting career at just eight years old, in a school play, and just a couple of years later, after brief appearances in The Thirteenth Year (1999), The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas (2000), and The Safety of Objects (2001), she wowed audiences with a remarkable performance as Jodie Foster's diabetic daughter in the thriller Panic Room (2002). Stewart never looked back from there, mixing major studios films with indie projects, and amassing such credits as Cold Creek Manor (2003), Speak (2004), Catch that Kid (2004), Undertow (2004), Fierce People (2005), Zathura (2005), In the Land of Women (2007), The Messengers (2007), The Cake Eaters (2007), Into the Wild (2007), What Just Happened (2008), The Yellow Handkerchief (2008), and Jumper...

Happy 20th birthday to Kristen Stewart!
The "Twilight" star was born and raised in Los Angeles and was destined for a Hollywood career since her dad is a TV producer and stage manager while her mom is a script supervisor from Australia.
Although she's known as Bella Swan in the "Twilight" films, she's had a long career before hitting superstardom and continues to prove she's no one-trick pony. No wonder she received BAFTA's Orange Rising Star award.
Here's a look back at K-Stew's movie roles through the years. Get ready to say, "Aw." She was an adorable kid.
In 2002, she played Jodie Foster's diabetic daughter in "Panic Room." Fun trivia: She replaced Hayden Panettiere, who was supposed to play the daughter.
Next came 2003's "Cold Creek Manor," a thriller that also starred Sharon Stone and Dennis Quaid.
A year later she played a traumatized teen in the cable film...

One tMF viewer, who is apparently a Megan Fox fan, once said 'Megan Fox is overrated as a celebrity but not as an actress.' That comment made me think: Is there really such a difference? Can't we judge someone who is a celebrity and an actress, and treat her as one and the same? She's just one person right?

- - - Here's exactly what our viewer said:
Megan Fox may be overrated as a "celebrity," but she is actually underrated, As An Actress.
She gets a ridiculously inordinate amount of criticism for her acting because the part of her career that made her famous was a part that focused on how attractive she was, not anything that could actually showcase any acting skills,...

Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart are two of the finest young actors in Hollywood. Eisenberg has appeared in Roger Dodger, The Emperor’s Club, Cursed, The Hunting Party and his break-out movie, The Squid and the Whale, a well-reviewed independent drama with Laura Linney and Jeff Daniels. Stewart, meanwhile, first rose to international prominence starring opposite Jodie Foster in Panic Room. She has since starred in Cold Creek Manor, Zathura, Fierce People, In the Land of Women, Into the Wild and the global smash Twilight, she is also set to reprise her role as Bella Swan in this year’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
In Adventureland Stewart stars as Em Lewin, the first girl to steal the heart of the film’s main protagonist, James Brennan, played by Eisenberg. They spark on screen and in real life, encouraging each other throughout the interview…
Q: What was it about Adventureland that appealed to you?...
