Most influential tiny kids series and adult political satire
I watched this, starting at age 6, the first non-news show on Canadian television as a small child, in its first live incarnation 1952-54, until the network pulled the plug on him for his trenchant satire of politicians and the network. Norman Jewison was a producer. I always watched and enjoyed it, talked about it with my friends, and appreciated the rather complex storyline but was not that attached to it until one night the obviously very upset and angry puppeteer emerged from behind the tiny stage and said "this is the last of Uncle Chichimus!" His emotion was contagious to an 8 year old. My parents heard me and came in to find me inconsolable about the abrupt end of my program. Must have been baffling.
