In Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner's vengeful plans for the same.
Christoph Waltz's Academy Award win in 2009 started a four-year run of the Best Supporting Actor Oscar going to an actor whose name begins with "Chris". Christian Bale won in 2010 for The Fighter (2010), Christopher Plummer took home the statuette in 2011 for Beginners (2010), and Waltz himself won again in 2012 for Django Unchained (2012).

In the tavern scene, the German soldiers are playing the game and one of them gets Mata Hari wrong. In this scene the barkeeper and his daughter are clearly visible with them at their table, however when the film cuts back to Von Hammersmark's table they appear instantly at the bar behind them.
The film uses the 1963-1990 Universal Pictures logo.
