This short doc on the making of High Society-True Love: Cole Porter in Hollywood-is worth a look
This was an extra on the High Society DVD. Celeste Holm hosts and recounts her days in the film which she made with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Grace Kelly, of which this was Ms. Kelly's last movie role before becoming the real-life Princess Grace of Monaco. In fact, Ms. Holm mentions the engagement ring Ms. Kelly wore in the picture as the scene is shown. She also touches on the resulting publicity of singing legends Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra appearing in their first film together and their duet on "Well, Did You Evah". And then there's the fact that the Crosby-Kelly duet on "True Love" sold a million copies resulting in a platinum record for a living royalty! This short doc ends with newsreel footage of both the movie's premiere and of Grace's wedding. That premiere is also seen in its entirety on another extra on the disc which is fascinating to watch mainly to see newlyweds Eddie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds among the stars attending the event. So on that note, True Love is worth seeing.
