Charlamagne tha God took no prisoners during an appearance on CNN’s AC360 on Thursday night, damning the network’s coverage of Donald Trump and what he called fascist statements and tendencies and the double standards that seem apply to Kamala Harris in an impassioned series of remarks.
In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Charlamagne, a popular podcaster and co-host of the nationally syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, is asked by host Anderson Cooper about Trump’s plan to appear on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast and whether Harris planned to do the same.
“I think that she should keep calling Donald Trump a fascist,” Charlamagne replied tersely.
He continued, “And I think that Americans need to keep looking at the rhetoric of Donald Trump because I don’t know why we’re even thinking about electing somebody who’s talking about putting people in camps.

With CNN facing a storm of criticism for its handling of a town hall event with Donald Trump, the network’s star anchor Anderson Cooper addressed the backlash on air Thursday night.
The cable news network has been on damage control since Wednesday night’s calamitous town hall moderated by Kaitlan Collins, an event that saw the former president repeat a number of lies about the 2020 election, the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and the pandemic, as well as peddle conspiracy theories and disparage and defame a sexual assault victim who had just this week been awarded a $5 million settlement against him. Pundits from across the political spectrum were almost unanimous in thinking that the event was a huge win for Trump and an unmitigated disaster for CNN.

Anchors away to Mideast
NEW YORK -- Networks continued sending anchors to the Middle East this week as a progress report on the troop increases in Iraq is released and tensions with Iran continue to be high.
NBC's Today co-anchor Matt Lauer will broadcast live from the Iranian capital of Tehran on Thursday. He'll talk to Iranians in a Tehran marketplace about their views on the U.S. and be joined by Middle East correspondent Richard Engel.
Meanwhile, CNN sent anchor Anderson Cooper to Iraq for his fourth trip since the start of the war. Anderson Cooper 360 was scheduled to originate live from Baghdad beginning Monday and continue until Friday. CNN said that Cooper would, among other things, report from the front lines with U.S. troops near Baghdad.

Cooper is CNN's $4 mil man
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has reportedly signed a new contract with the network, guaranteeing him at least $4 million per year.
The new deal with Cooper, host of CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," would more than double his previous salary and allow him to continue in his side role as a contributor to the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes.
CNN declined comment, but a spokeswoman for the cable network issued a statement, saying: "Anderson Cooper is an exceptional journalist, and his dedication in going after important stories wherever they occur makes him a natural fit for CNN. We look forward to more of his groundbreaking work in the years to come."
Cooper has emerged as the new face of CNN in recent years, with his profile elevated in the wake of acclaimed work in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. He has been with CNN since 2001 following stints at ABC News and Channel One News. Viewership for "360" was up 24% in the fourth quarter.

'60 Minutes' leads News Emmys
NEW YORK -- Reports by the late Peter Jennings on ABC News' Iraq: Where Things Stand series and a range of coverage of Hurricane Katrina and terrorism issues were among the winners Monday night at the News & Documentary Emmy Awards. CBS' 60 Minutes led all shows with four nods. Jennings, the longtime ABC News anchor who died in August 2005, and ABC received two awards for Where Things Stand, the network's weeklong report on the war in Iraq from early 2005, including outstanding continuing coverage and best story in a newscast. Jennings' executive producer, Jon Banner, accepted both awards, saying the reports were "a real tour de force for Peter" even though Jennings was only 71 days from disclosing that he had lung cancer. The 39-year-old newsmagazine 60 Minutes took home three honors Monday, including two from correspondent Bob Simon; CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 received two awards.

Jolie "Terrified" by Birth
Angelina Jolie has spoken publicly for the first time about how she was "terrified" while giving birth to her baby daughter Shiloh Nouvel. Oscar winner Jolie, who also has two adopted children, was fearful there would be complications at the Namibia birth, even though boyfriend Brad Pitt was by her side. The Mr. And Mrs. Smith actress told US TV show Anderson Cooper 360, "You know, because you're there for the birth, which I wasn't for my first two kids, you're just suddenly terrified that they're not going to take a first breath. That was my whole focus. I just wanted to hear her cry."...

Cooper working part-time at '60 Minutes'
NEW YORK -- CNN's Anderson Cooper will become a 60 Minutes contributor in the fall, reporting four or five stories to the landmark CBS show. Cooper will remain the headliner of Anderson Cooper 360, the two-hour late-night news show on CNN. He will contribute the 60 Minutes stories using a rotating group of producers while on his days off from CNN, with his first airing on CBS sometime after the new season begins in September. It's not the first time Cooper has worked with CBS. The former ABC News correspondent contributed stories to 60 Minutes II while it was on, and 60 Minutes had always wanted to retain him somehow.

Brown exits CNN as Cooper gains slot
NEW YORK -- After days of rumors and an uncomfortable pairing on the late-night cable news schedule following Hurricane Katrina, CNN parted ways with Aaron Brown and gave Anderson Cooper sole possession of the flagship news time slot. The announcement brings an end to Brown's job at the network and further raises Cooper's profile to the face of the new CNN. The new Anderson Cooper 360 will run from 10 p.m.-midnight beginning Monday, with executive producer David Doss and a crew that will include staffers from "360" and NewsNight With Aaron Brown. Brown had once been the star of primetime for CNN, anchoring much of the breaking-news coverage and hosting NewsNight at 10 p.m. ET. But after Hurricane Katrina brought further attention to Cooper, Brown had been reduced to the role of in-studio host while showcasing his younger colleague. In an interview Wednesday, CNN-U.S. president Jon Klein said CNN decided to build its primetime schedule around "the two tentpoles that have the greatest potential and the greatest momentum": 360 and The Situation Room.

The Vine: CNN toying with new 'NewsNight'
NEW YORK -- Has CNN come to the end of the road in its pairing of Aaron Brown and Anderson Cooper on a recently expanded NewsNight? Speculation is rampant that CNN is weighing the possibility of keeping Cooper as anchor of the 10 p.m. EST edition of NewsNight while shifting Brown to anchor a new 7 p.m. edition of the show, which is now the home of Anderson Cooper 360. Brown had been anchoring the 10 p.m. NewsNight newscast as a solo act until early September, when CNN expanded the program to two hours to cover the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region. Cooper, who has reported for extended periods of time from the road, has been a permanent part of the show after CNN decided to shelve its regular 11 p.m. repeat of Lou Dobbs Tonight. Now, according to sources, CNN is weighing the possibility of splitting up the show and giving Cooper the high-profile 10 p.m. slot. A CNN rep said that no final decisions have been made on the future of NewsNight. No matter what happens, neither Cooper nor Brown will be on the air for CNN this week. Both anchors are on vacation.

CNN evolving in primetime, morning slots
NEW YORK -- More changes are in the air for CNN's morning and primetime programming, with two American Morning co-hosts leaving the show and the channel naming new executive producers for Anderson Cooper 360 and Paula Zahn Now. Miles O'Brien, who had been co-anchoring an afternoon news program on the network, will join Soledad O'Brien as co-host of American Morning. O'Brien replaces Bill Hemmer, who will leave CNN on June 17. Jack Cafferty, a former local journalist who had been working on American Morning, shifts to Wolf Blitzer's new afternoon news program, The Situation Room. Meanwhile, CNN has tapped veteran news producers Victor Neufeld and David Doss to run some of its primetime programming. Neufeld, executive producer of CBS' The Early Show, who also has run ABC's "20/20" and PrimeTime Thursday, will be senior executive producer of Paula Zahn Now. Doss, who has been executive producer of PrimeTime Thursday and NBC Nightly News, will fill the same role on Paula Zahn Now.

Feb. is wintry time for cable news nets
NEW YORK -- Politics, Donald Trump and Dennis Miller helped NBC's two cable news networks improve their share of the primetime news audience last month, but it's far from certain they can maintain the momentum. As expected, cable news networks found February to be a barren month compared with the war fever that fueled ratings a year ago as viewership fell 27% overall and 36% among adults 25-54. However, Fox News Channel, MSNBC and CNBC managed to increase their share of the news audience, both in primetime and across the entire day. The one piece of good news for CNN came in primetime, where it did manage to narrow the gap with Fox among adults, but a heavy dose of presidential primary coverage enabled third-place MSNBC to make gains on CNN. Most ominously for CNN, at 7 p.m. EST, MSNBC's Hardball With Chris Matthews almost beat Anderson Cooper 360.
