Did You Know?

Thomas Kretschmann was the first choice as the voice of Johann Kraus, but Guillermo del Toro was not satisfied with the result, and subsequently brought in Seth MacFarlane.

Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm: My son, would you turn off that wretched puppet, and brush your teeth?
Young Hellboy: Don't call him a puppet!
Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm: I beg your pardon?
Young Hellboy: He's not a puppet! Howdy Doody's real!
Professor Trevor 'Broom' Bruttenholm: Well, Mr. Dee-dee Doo-doo will have to say good night.

In Hellboy no armed guards were necessary for protecting the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. In Hellboy II: The Golden Army when the same building is shown there are two stationary guards and two men with a dog each on patrol. This doesn't tally because Bureau for Paranormal is supposed to be top secret when all of the guards are not very subtle. However, there was a break-in in the first movie. Perhaps they felt the need for heightened security. Also, they've 'come out' to the world now and don't feel the need for secrecy.

Crazy Credits

There are no opening credits. The film's title is formed out of red-hot metal by clockwork machinery.
