I got the chance to see "Shadows" at the Frankly Zoe Film Festival. I was pleasantly surprised with the film. The story was very fast-paced, I think it could have easily been made into a full feature. There is a lot of information that is given in a short period of time, so I really had to pay attention to what was being said. The plot was a little complex, but was intriguing and sometimes downright creepy! One of the things I love about the film was the locations. For a low budget film, they had some really cool rural surroundings. I think that set it apart from so many of the low budget films you see. The director had obviously gone to great lengths to provide the characters with rich settings. The acting was hit or miss. I thought the lead actor who played Matthew (Micah Ballinger) was terrific. He did a great job of portraying the shy, terrified young man. Other acting highlights include Alice Fulk as Mrs. Daniels, and the actors who were in the diner scene really gave it that small town feel. They seemed more like real people than actors which lead to the films authenticity. Overall a film worthy of your time..check it out if you get the chance.
