If you haven’t taken the leap to bundle Disney+ and Hulu, it might be time. Streaming is only getting more expensive and competitive, and the enticing bundle (which also includes ESPN) might be a version of cable TV, but it’s also just cost efficient. Disney+ and Hulu are so intertwined that their monthly listing updates come in the same email — and as such, we decided to compile them here for you in the same list.
Whether you have Disney+ or Hulu, or both (and the IndieWire staff has weighed on our favorites), each has its benefits. Disney has the family-friendly titles, the Star Wars and Marvel (new episodes of “The Bad Batch” and “X-Men: 97” continue through April), while Hulu is the place to catch FX originals and network episodes. Both streamers have the rights to distribute National Geographic titles, which are well worth exploring along with the rest of the library.

On one hand, the prospect of a film featuring characters from the earlier animated TV show is exciting for some fans. However, on the other, many DC fans worry that Gunn is repeating the same old mistakes committed by Zack Snyder’s Dceu. Fans criticized DC’s move to announce new projects, while the already announced slate awaits development updates.

Wonder Woman has the distinction of being one of the better film series in the Dceu, which ultimately collapsed and is awaiting its reboot at the hands of James Gunn. Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot were able to craft a stunning narrative, one that talked about themes of war and peace, that painted humanity in a fundamentally flawed light.
Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman
However, despite the praises that were heaped on the film, one pivotal scene in the movie undoes the themes and the motifs that the film sets up, destroying what the film was trying to say. Wonder Woman as a film lays all the blame for the war at the feet of the human race, waxing poetic about humanity’s capacity for inflicting suffering. However, one particular scene flips the script completely, changing what the film had set up all this time.

Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman transformed the Lasso into a tool of honesty rather than obedience. The Golden Lasso's primary function as a weapon of truth was influenced by the popular 1970s TV show. Later adaptations of Wonder Woman depicted the Lasso as having the power to compel honesty.
One of the earliest live-action versions of Wonder Woman redefined her most iconic weapon. Since her 1941 debut, Wonder Woman quickly became one of DC’s most popular heroes, though, unfortunately, there have not been quite as many live-action Wonder Woman adaptations as the other two members of DC’s “Big Three.” Decades before Gal Gadot and Patty Jenkins solidified Wonder Woman as an A-list DC property, Lynda Carter’s iteration introduced an entire generation to the mythic superheroine and elements of her comic lore. The 1970s Wonder Woman TV show also, notably, forever changed the primary function of her famous Lasso of Truth.

The Star Wars Rogue Squadron, directed by Patty Jenkins, was apparently canceled despite much anticipation by fans. Lucasfilm has hints at the possibility Rogue Squadron could become a TV show instead of a movie. Patty Jenkins has returned to working on the Rogue Squadron script after a delay caused by other projects.
There have been several Star Wars movies in development since the Skywalker Saga concluded, and one of the most intriguing is the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is attached to the project, which would focus on a squad of X-wing pilots and be the next Star Wars movie to hit theaters following Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, the project faced a number of setbacks, and wasn't announced among upcoming Star Wars movies at Star Wars Celebration 2023.

Patty Jenkins is still working on the screenplay for Star Wars: Rogue Squadron. This is per her appearance on the TCM/Max podcast. Many assumed the project was dead and it’s not.
She was attached to the project in early December of 2020, where it was announced during Disney virtual investor day during Covid. Jenkins then stepped away to work on Wonder Woman 3, which was ultimately deep-sixed by new DC co-Bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Soon after Wonder Woman 3 blew up back in December 2022, Jenkins said in the press then that Lucasfilm and Disney made a new deal for her on Rogue Squadron, a project dear to her heart as she’s taking inspiration from her Air Force fighter pilot father Capt. Williams T. Jenkins who served during the Vietnam War.
We hear from sources that Rogue Squadron was never dead or re-ignited: it’s status quo as far as development is concerned.

“Rogue Squadron” may not be dead after all, but according to Patty Jenkins, “Wonder Woman 3” (or another “Wonder Woman” movie in the new Dcu) certainly is. On TCM‘s “Talking Pictures” podcast, the director confirmed she’s done making “Wonder Woman” movies for DC. “Yeah, for the time being, or easily forever,” she said, reiterating, “Easily forever, yeah.”

Patty Jenkins’ “Star Wars” movie “Rogue Squadron” might not be dead after all. The project, centered on fighter pilots in the “Star Wars” universe, was first announced at the end of 2020 and was put on the calendar for a December 2023 theatrical release. By September 2022, however, Disney had pulled the title from its release schedule. Variety reported last May that “Rogue Squadron” was no longer in active development at Lucasfilm.
In a new interview on the “Talking Pictures” podcast, Jenkins announced that she is now once again in development on the script for “Rogue Squadron” following the dissolution of her planned “Wonder Woman 3” at Warner Bros. and DC Studios. Variety has reached out to Lucasfilm for comment.
“When I left ‘Star Wars’ to do ‘Wonder Woman 3,’ and I started working on that, we talked about, ‘Well, maybe I’ll come back to “Star Wars” after “Wonder Woman 3,”‘ so we started a deal for that to happen,...

Though it was originally announced to much excitement back in 2020 as part of Disney's big Investor Day that year, the plan for Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins to craft Star Wars: Rogue Squadron has since been stalled in a development hanger, and was removed from the studio's release schedule two years later. Yet now, according to Jenkins, things might just be moving again.
Appearing on the Talking Pictures podcast (as reported by IGN), Jenkins revealed that since a third outing for Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot in the role no longer appears to be happening under James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC movie/TV universe, the director's schedule is open for a potential return to the Star Wars galaxy.

For fans anxiously awaiting Lucasfilm's next big move after the divisive "The Rise of Skywalker" brought an uncertain end to "Star Wars" on the big screen, well, this next update only kind of clears things up.
"Wonder Woman" director Patty Jenkins once was the subject of a breathless announcement back in December of 2020, which revealed that she would be directing a "Star Wars" film about a squadron of X-wing pilots due out by the end of 2023. That obviously didn't end up happening, probably because the title was quietly removed from the studio's release schedule after months and months without a single update. We subsequently found out Jenkins' 'Star Wars" movie had been unceremoniously shelved, possibly in response to the poor reception to "Wonder Woman 1984," but maybe that was a bit premature. In a thoroughly unexpected surprise, this latest bit of news comes not from Lucasfilm itself, but from...

Patty Jenkins became really famous when she decided to direct a ‘Wonder Woman’ movie for the Dceu. The movie was a huge success and got Jenkins the record for the biggest opening weekend for a movie directed by a woman. Soon after, she said she was going to direct ‘Wonder Woman 2,’ but she almost left the project because she wasn’t happy with the pay offer from Warner Bros. (WB).
‘Wonder Woman 1984’ was supposed to come out in the U.S. on June 5, 2020, but was delayed to December 25, 2020, because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was first planned to release on November 1, 2019, but when it finally came out, it got mixed reviews and didn’t make much money. This is seen by some as the start of a downhill trend. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins signed on to helm Rogue Squadron more than three years ago, but the project hasn’t made much progress since then, with multiple delays amid reports that Jenkins was butting heads creatively with Lucasfilm. The film was finally removed from the schedule in 2022, but Jenkins has now said she’s signed a new deal to return.
While speaking with Ben Mankiewicz on the Talking Pictures podcast, Jenkins explained that she left Rogue Squadron to develop Wonder Woman 3, but when that project fell apart, she returned to Star Wars.
“When I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3, I thought maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins said. “So we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal, but I thought I was doing Wonder Woman 3. So when Wonder Woman 3 went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, ‘oh, we gotta finish this deal.

Comic book fans are all in anticipation of what the developing Dcu will bring to the table following the downfall of the old franchise. Thus, as David Corenswet was first rumored, but later confirmed to be playing the role of Clark Kent in the upcoming Superman, actress Eiza González was speculated to become the next Wonder Woman in cinema.

James Gunn has been filming for his upcoming Dcu film Superman in Svalbard, Norway. The filmmaker and DC Studios co-chief recently confirmed that a second season of the hit show Peacemaker will be filming soon and that he would be directing some episodes of the series as he was also working on Superman. Gunn also said that the spinoff series Waller was in development.
Gunn revealed that season one of Peacemaker was not canon to the Dcu as the shared universe only begins when the animated show Creature Commandos begins to air. The filmmaker mentioned that season two, however, would be canon to the Dcu and would take place after Superman, leading fans to be more confused about the timeline of the universe.

James Gunn clarifies that not all of Peacemaker Season 1 is not Dcu canon, but several threads will remain in tact. Most of Peacemaker's main cast members and narratives from Season 1 will carry over to Season 2 in the Dcu. Despite being mostly self-contained, Peacemaker has to address having Ezra Miller and Jason Momoa cameo in the season 1 finale.

Delaying Wonder Woman's Dcu debut makes sense given initial success and Gal Gadot's absence in the new continuity line-up. Wonder Woman's complex backstory will take center stage in the Paradise Lost show, building intrigue without an official movie announcement. Introducing lesser-known DC characters first sets the Dcu apart, creating unique narratives before unveiling iconic "big three" heroes like Wonder Woman.
With excitement building for the Dcu, the conspicuous delay of Wonder Woman's introduction seems smart. The rebooted DC cinematic universe is now well underway with filming for Superman having begun in late February. In the current Dcu lineup, the movie is set to be followed by The Authority, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Brave and the Bold, and Swamp Thing, though details surrounding these movies - including their release dates - are still scarce. While Marvel has won many hearts and box office records, the studio has rarely been the favorite of award shows such as the Oscars and Golden Globes. These awards are mostly reserved for films that go beyond genre tropes and have elements of arthouse. Marvel’s Black Panther is the only film that was nominated for Best Picture.
However, the prestigious Saturn Awards have constantly honored the franchise as they focus on sci-fi, horror, and fantasy genres. Marvel has dominated the Saturn Awards for Best Comic-to-Movie Film category, which is widely regarded as the ‘Oscars for Superheroes’. Ever since it was established in 2013, only one DC film has had the honor of receiving the award, and it is not Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel.

Despite failures with recent titles, the recent trend in live-service games does not look like it’s slowing down anytime soon. Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Avengers failed miserably as a live title but then sprung Helldivers 2 out of nowhere to achieve the unexpected success that surprised every other studio.
On the flipside, though, the success of Helldivers 2 has now reopened the doors to more live projects, just when studios seemed to shy away from them. Despite past failed projects, WB Games is now recruiting for a role to assist Monolith Productions (MP).

Karen Gillan is up for joining the Dcu, and the character she has in mind has long been a popular pick with fans.
For several years, DC fans have campaigned for Karen Gillan to play the supervillain Poison Ivy. It's also something Gillan herself has said she'd be open to. As of now, she hasn't yet been cast for James Gunn's Dcu, but it may just be a matter of time before she reunites with her Guardians of the Galaxy director to play a new character. While speaking about the possibility with Screen Rant, Gillan reaffirmed her desire to play Poison Ivy, but it would ideally be for a project that would explore the character's romance with Harley Quinn.

Warning: Spoilers for Amazons Attack #5!
Nubia highlights the Amazons' role as symbols of hope against fear and misguided media portrayal. Nubia emphasizes the importance of Amazons being symbols of hope in a world full of paranoia and aggression. Nubia's sentiment of spreading peace and love while avoiding aggression becomes tragic when she is shot.
83 years following the 1941 DC Comics debut of Themyscira, Wonder Woman's sister verbalizes the true significance of the Amazons. Nubia was introduced into the DC canon in 1973 as Diana's long-lost fraternal twin. In the time since, she has risen up the ranks of the Amazon island to become Queen of Themyscira. As such, Nubia understands the Amazons better than most people, including her sister Diana.
As a result, Nubia can proudly proclaim the role that herself, Wonder Woman, and all Amazons must fill for the world in Amazons Attack #5 by Josie Campbell and Vasco Georgiev. Throughout the series,...
