- The Criminal Minds: Evolution are much more graphic and disturbing in their depictions of crimes being happened than the original seasons. Rather than cutting away right before victims are killed, they are shown in detail.
- The entire series is extremely disturbing, brutally violent, suspenseful and extremely intense. It deals with all sorts of viscerally horrible criminals of all shapes and sizes, including serial killers with double-digit kills, serial rapists with double-digit victims, James Bond-style supervillains, or the rare triple-digit killer, all of whom commit an assorted variety of gruesome crimes. Worst of all is that all of these crimes actually happened in real-life.

- The couple episodes that show The Reaper threatening Hotch's family, then following through and killing Haley can be extremely sad / intense. Especially the phone call before she's shot
- In the season 12 finale, Reid suddenly holds a woman against a wall and begins choking her. Rather frightening since Reid is known to keep his cool up until this moment.
