Think mini James Bond and that's the show in a nutshell.
The show's basic premise is the main character's been cloned by his father who was working for a secret company that's illegally cloning children and he's been called back to finish the job off. The premise morphs into a "save the clones" type scenario before they get destroyed.
Lots of really cool high-tech gadgetry stuff was used by many characters, most of which is theoretically possible in reality (bearing in mind a lot of stuff happens in fiction that very rarely works in real life). Cheap to make, but the effects go a long way. Watching a re-run the main actor looked a lot like Thomas Law aka Peter Beale in EastEnders. It's not the same actor but I was convinced it was him until the credits rolled and all was revealed.
The show unfortunately only lasted one series because it came at a time when the Children's ITV production and service was being cut back. This is probably one of the arm's better commissioned programmes of recent times. There's plenty of mileage in the format, plenty of character development to go on with... Some would say it was a crime it only lasted seven episodes. Would it have had a second or third series if CITV hadn't been scaled back? We'll never know. What would Jay's next adventure be?
This show could effectively be seen as a precursor to M.I. High. In fact M.I. High is potentially where this show could have gone had it been left to run. CITV really shot themselves in the foot by failing to recommission this drama, especially considering M.I. High is now in it's third series. What a wasted opportunity.
