On his latest expedition, Dr. Rick Marshall is sucked into a space-time vortex alongside his research assistant and a redneck survivalist. In this alternate universe, the trio make friends with a primate named Chaka, their only ally in a world full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures.
Matt Lauer tells Dr. Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell) that Stephen Hawking believes his theories of time travel are "non-science". Hawking, later in real-life, proposed that time travel is possible.

Dr. Marshall states that the T-Rex had poor depth perception. However, in reality T-Rex is believed to have had great depth perception.
Halfway through the credits there is an additional scene showing a brought back dinosaur egg hatching to reveal a baby Sleestak.
