10. Idle Hands (1999)
As we all know, idle hands are the devil’s toy. This movie takes the biblical proverb’s meaning quite literally: one fine morning, the laziest teenager in the US realizes that his right hand has become all too independent.
Soon, he finds out that it has a murderous intent for anyone in its reach, and he must find a way to stop it.
You can watch Idle Hands on Apple TV and Prime Video.
9. Scary Movie (2000)
Just as the title implies, Scary Movie is a parody on one of the most popular horror genres back in the day: slashers. A group of teenagers who accidentally killed a man a year ago finds themselves stalked and methodically exterminated by a mumbling killer in a Scream mask. Why the Scream mask, you may ask? Because why not.
You can watch Scary Movie on Max, Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video.

Nicolas Cage plays a tongue-in-cheek version of himself in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, a gleefully meta action comedy from co-writer / director Tom Gormican. Mining sizeable laughs from every aspect of the actor’s life, career and larger-than-life screen persona, it’s a must-see for Cage fans.
Struggling with his career prospects, his relationship with his teenage daughter and his massive hotel bill, actor Nick Cage (Cage) accepts the only offer his agent (Neil Patrick Harris) can produce: 1 million to appear at the birthday party of wealthy businessman Javi Gutierrez (Pedro Pascal) in Mallorca.

Bruce Campbell may be done with Ash Williams and the Evil Dead franchise, but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving the world of horror. Aside from Ash, Campbell has also appeared in great B-movies like Maniac Cop, Congo and the excellent Bubba Ho-Tep. Now, it appears that his next major project will be Bruce vs. Frankenstein, a sequel to 2007 horror-comedy My Name is Bruce.
In that movie, Campbell played a fictionalized version of himself and poked fun at his public image. His indelible association with Ash Williams came back to bite him in the ass when a group of teenagers kidnap him to help them defeat a real-life monster. It was a fun romp, but it looks like this sequel will go way beyond the original movie.

HBO has such sights to show you... Last summer it was revealed that a Hellraiser TV series was in development with producers Roy Lee (It) and Dan Farah (Ready Player One) attached. While the series didn't have a network to call home then, it certainly does now, as Deadline reports that HBO has "made a deal" to create a Hellraiser series.
Deadline also reveals that David Gordon Green (2018's Halloween) will direct "the pilot and several more initial episodes" of the Hellraiser series, with Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty on board as writers for the new show.
Green, Verheiden, and Dougherty will also executive produce the series alongside Lee, Farah, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman, Rough House Pictures' Danny McBride, Jody Hill, and Brandon James, as well as Eric Gardner of Panacea Entertainment.
Rather than a remake, Deadline reports that the series will be an "...elevated continuation and expansion of the well-established Hellraiser mythology.

In a combination of star and project that feels weirdly appropriate when you think about, Bruce Campbell is set to host the new Ripley’s Believe It or Not! show, which is due to air on the Travel Channel later this year.
The announcement came via the franchise’s own Twitter account, along with a trailer that teases some of the strange and extraordinary people and phenomena that the show will be exhibiting. Perhaps you've hailed to the king, but next summer, it will be time to Hail to the Chin when Bruce Campbell's new book hits shelves.
Written with Craig Sanborn and scheduled to come out in hardcover on August 8th, 2017 from St. Martin's Press, Hail to the Chin: Further Confessions of a B Movie Actor is Campbell's follow-up book to 2002's If Chins Could Kill.
In Jonathan James' recent interview with Campbell, the Ash vs Evil Dead actor discussed his upcoming autobiography:
"I realize it's been fifteen years since the first book, and there's been a lot of crazy stuff I've been involved with: going to Iraq in ’09 to see the troops, making movies in Columbia. It would take a lot to beat the second episode of Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2, featuring one of the best slapstick scenes of the series. We now have that episode, featuring a family reunion of sorts. This reunion is not only in story terms but also a returning actor from the very first Evil Dead movie.
With Ash (Bruce Campbell) and his group now making their way back to his father’s house, focus is on finding out just what is going on with Pablo (Ray Santiago). With Ruby (Lucy Lawless) doing her thing with Pablo, Ash finds himself having to enter his sister Cheryl’s room.
Fans of the first film will know that Cheryl is played by Ellen Sandweiss, and we also saw her in My Name is Bruce. With her return home to do battle with Ash we get plenty of tree themed jokes, because yes…...

Ash is back: protector of humanity, true ladies’ man, slayer of deadites, S-Mart employee of the month. In 1981, director Sam Raimi and actor Bruce Campbell changed the face of horror with the schlocky, ugly and downright hilarious B-movie that is Evil Dead. Then they did it again, six years later, with the chaotic masterpiece that is Evil Dead II.
These two films saw Ash, a normal guy with a poor taste in holiday destinations, having to slaughter his friends and girlfriends after they became consumed by the evil souls that haunt the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. They rounded off the trilogy with the flawed but truly hilarious action film Army Of Darkness (1991), in which the noble hero of the first two films heads back in time and rescues Medieval civilisation from the terrors of the Evil Dead.

Bruce Campbell is the freakin' man. He's a great, funny guy who is also crazy talented. Let's face it, big stars like George Clooney only wish they could be as badass as Bruce Campbell. If the actor has his way, there's a chance that one day he will make an Expendables style horror movies.

Bruce Campbell is great. If you've ever run into him at a convention or on the street or at a screening, I'm telling you something you already know. Certain stars have an air of "getting it" about them, and maybe that's what makes them fun to watch.
Talking to The Hero Complex about the new Evil Dead DVD commentary, Campbell let slip that he would like to do an outsized sequel to 2007's meta horror/comedy My Name is Bruce. He wants to involve many classic names in horror and layer it over and over with gags.

From the Press Release
While on the search for a fleeing felon, Dead Bounty (directed by Jordan Pacheco) follows a group of bounty hunters, lead by 'Bosk' (Tony Moran) and 'Henry' (Timothy Patrick Quill), who head into a vast New England forest in hopes to capture a dangerous man. Closing in on their quarry, the group encounters more than just a murderer on the run when they are confronted with a seemingly endless horde of the undead. With no shelter, no help and no end to the carnage, survival seems hopeless.
Horror icon Tony Moran, who is best known for playing Michael Myers in John Carpenter's Halloween (1978), plays the role of 'Bosk' in the film.

First up is the trailer for You Can't Kill Stephen King, which looks like an even lower-budget mash-up of the very fun Tucker & Dale vs Evil and the less fun My Name is Bruce. It's not exactly the most inspired offering in today's Trailer Drop, but its self-depricating sense of humor and shameless grab for the attention of King fans is mildly amusing, mainly in an 'I'd stream that on Netflix when I'm bored' kind of way. [via Twitch] Warning: contains a few possibly Nsfw shots. From the forced mediocrity of straight-to-video horror we go to the always-inspired world of Michel Gondry. The We and the I is the name of the...

They may not be household names like their A-list colleagues, but the actors on this list have appeared in some of our all-time favourite geek movies...
Some actors dabble in sci-fi; others dip their toe into fantasy; some may even make an appearance in the odd horror film - all before returning to the safety of the genres in which they feel more comfortable - perhaps a nice, award-chasing period drama, or a well-paid romantic comedy.
A-listers may see the geeky films that we on this site enjoy and celebrate as fun little side-projects, but there are actors out there who commit full-time to these types of movies. It is high time, therefore, that we credited these individuals with the recognition they deserve.
Besides the stipulation that, in order to be included, an actor had to still be alive and working today, there were no strict criteria that had to...

"This is my boomstick!" Bruce Campbell was already a full-fledged horror icon before reciting that unforgettable line from Army of Darkness, but this put the cherry on top. "Boomstick" was Campbell's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", his "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", his "Stairway to Heaven".
Here at Doctor Gash's Tip of the Scalpel column, we're used to paying tribute to the real baddies of horror. The nastier character you portrayed, the more love you'll get here. For all our MoreHorror readers recovering from the tryptophan induced stupor we call Thanksgiving, boy do we have a treat for you. What better way to celebrate the recent release of the Evil Dead II: 25th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray than to talk to the man behind the special effects and some of the most amazing visuals in horror movie history: the legendary Greg Nicotero.
If you've seen little productions like Day of the Dead, In the Mouth of Madness, From Dusk 'Til Dawn, Scream, The Cell, Masters of Horror, The Mist and most recently The Walking Dead than you are very familiar with his enormous body of work. Each week within this column we strive to pair the latest in theatrical releases to the worthwhile titles currently available on Netflix Instant Watch. This week we look at alternatives to Dream House, Take Shelter and Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil.

Bruce Campbell became a cult hero to horror movie fans for his portrayal of zombie-hunter Ash in The Evil Dead trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi.
The 53-year-old will shortly be back on our screens as ex-special forces agent Sam Axe in the fourth series of Burn Notice, which starts on FX on Wednesday, August 24 at 9pm.
While promoting the TV show, Campbell has confirmed he is producing a new version of The Evil Dead.
He tells us: "Yeah, it's a remake. Well, it's not part four, I'll put it that way. It's a chance to keep the series alive, to tell a new story in the framework of The Evil Dead, with a new director (Freddy Alvarez) and hopefully a good, young, talented cast."
So is he going to appear in it? Campbell says: "Not really. There might be some gag character I can play, but it's all going to be young people.

After Andrew Neel and Luke Meyer's fantastic documentary Darkon took us inside the world of Live Action Role Playing back in 2006, the floodgates have since opened on both documentaries and fictional comedies all poking fun at LARPers in progressively less flattering ways. David Wain's Role Models was perhaps the highest profile film to feature wooden swords and homemade armor, and now the first trailer has been released for a new indie comedy from Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2) called Knights of Badassdom. The plot revolves around a group of LARPers who accidentally summon a real demon from hell and are then forced to step up and become heroes. In my mind I was picturing something akin to Bruce Campbell's horribly unfunny My Name is Bruce and I was kind of expecting to hate it, but I'm happy to say that this trailer won me over. The cast...

Before we begin, if you have not seen My Name Is Bruce, I suggest watching this music video. If you can't get down with "The Legend of Guan-Di," then you can feel free to skip the rest of this and continue on about your day. If you have seen it, then you may use it as musical accompaniment whilst you read.
Bruce Campbell is having a big week. His TV show "Burn Notice" continues to be a relative summer ratings juggernaut, he got to share some of his thoughts on the possibility of an Evil Dead remake/sequel, and Dustin rightly placed "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr." on his list of Should'a Been'a Emmy Contenders list. Vulture also interviewed him about Harris' favorite TV show and while I liked the first season of the show, I've little interest in it now other than the movie prequel that stars our favorite Jack of All Trades.

Last year Bruce Campbell confirmed that a sequel to My Name Is Bruce was in the works. But things have been rather quiet on that front. In a recent interview the man conducted about his TV series Burn Notice, he gave an update on the project.
“Well, the script sucked. We’ve got to start all over again. Your script is your blueprint. If your blueprint is off, your building is going to be, too. In the old days, I wouldn’t have even known what a bad script was. But now I have a better idea and I know that you actually can’t fix a bad script. With a great script, you can get a lousy actor and he’ll still be good in it. But a lousy script, you can get Laurence Olivier and it’ll still suck. So we’re working on it. We don’t want to piss people off.

Its no secret that, My Name Is Bruce wasnt a fantastic film. The script contained more holes than a box of cheerios, the acting was horrific by B-movie standards, and scribe Mark Verheiden painted Campbell as an obnoxious self-centered ass. Ive met Bruce, and Ill tell you now, that was no accurate portrayal. Despite the general backlash that My Name Is Bruce earned, it looks as though a sequel is now finally headed in the proper directio…...

Perhaps even more surprising than Ron Howard, a steady American director whose best films were always centered around the framework of men involved in great moments & characters from history (Frost Nixon, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man), being the man to bring possibly the most ambitious project of the new decade, or any decade – a three film and two t.v. series long adaptation of Stephen King’s incredibly dense and multi-genre spanning The Dark Tower seven book series – to life, was the news last week that Oscar winner Javier Bardem had agreed to play lead Roland Deschain.
Once thought to be the kind of long commitment project that could only demand t.v. level actors or those struggling for work, Howard and Universal managed to instead capture the very much in-demand and perhaps the greatest actor working at the peak of his powers today. And very quickly, the world began to take notice.

Hail to the chin, baby. Things are about to get groovy.
Burn Notice's prequel movie The Fall of Sam Axe hits TV screens on Sunday, April 17th (hey, the same day as Game of Thrones!), but you don't have to wait that long for a little chin music.
In addition to the trailer, Ugo and others had a chance to talk recently with the man himself, iconic movie and B-movie star Bruce Campbell about where The Fall will take Sam Axe, and just how the movie will sync with the coming fifth season of Burn Notice, which premieres Thursday, June 23rd!

Some new developments on The Dark Tower front. According to Deadline, Mark Verheiden has been brought in to co-write the massive adaptation alongside Akiva Goldsman. Verheiden will specifically focus on the NBC series which will serve to bridge the feature films Ron Howard is directing. The series is said to take place between the first and second film in the proposed trilogy. Verheiden's credits include Battlestar Galactica , My Name is Bruce , Heroes , The Mask and Timecop .

As many of you know from reading our site and listening to our podcast, we are pretty big H.P. Lovecraft fans. Fans to the point we will check out anything and everything that is influenced by his stories or are as close to an adaptation as you can get. So when news came around that there was a comedic horror film coming out that was influenced by Mr. Lovecraft, our interest was definitely through the roof. Considering films from Re-Animator to Hellboy mix a bit of comedy into the horror, which is usually what Lovecraft did within his tales, it seemed like the most logical step into making a film. But does it work?
The Last Lovecraft: Relic of Cthulhu tells the story of Jeff (Kyle Davis), an office worker who just wants to live a normal life and his friend Charlie (Devin McGinn) who is always getting him in trouble.

Spaced repeats from episode one, and there's a bit of Harry Hill. Fortunately, there are also lots and lots of great movies on UK TV this coming week...
Well, we hope you're a movie fan, because there aren't many TV shows to highlight. In fact, all we can point to is some overflow from last week's abundant new starts and returning series.
We missed telling you that the newest series of the prop explosion Harry Hill's TV Burp returned for an eleventh go at its neighbours on the telly schedules. But, not to worry, as it's often repeated and you can catch the first episode when it shows again tonight, Friday, February 11th at 8:30pm, or Saturday, February 12th at 6:50pm. Our hope is that the Heather-look-a-likey has been retired, but we never tire of the Knitted Character, or any pals it wants to bring along to the new series.

Earlier this week we gave you a sneak peek at the upcoming relaunch of Dark Horse Comics' anthology series "Dark Horse Presents," including a preview of "Xerxes," Frank Miller's follow-up to "300." Along with chatting up Dark Horse president Mike Richardson about all things Dhp, we also got an update on some of the movie projects in development at their film production arm, Dark Horse Entertainment.
From adaptations of popular comic book series like "Criminal Macabre" and "The Goon" to original films like "Bruce Campbell Vs. Frankenstein," Dark Horse currently has a long list of fan-friendly projects in various stages of development.
While Richardson couldn't offer too many details, he did offer a status update of sorts for many of the films, and hinted that that one of the company's most popular franchises is changing things up in a big way for its next installment.

The talent getting involved -- like Michel Gondry, Darren Aronofsky and others -- may be better than ever, but the superhero movie and other comic book adaptations seem to be in a moment of flux, as the studio system runs out of or reboots prominent franchises and struggles with how to adapt more niche series. This week on the IFC News podcast, we look at the state of superheroes, and have a side discussion of Patton Oswalt's Wired editorial on the mainstreamification of geek culture.

We all know him. We all love him. In fact he may be, despite what certain beer commercials say, the most interesting man in the world. His name is Bruce Campbell and he’s the world’s most famous B-Movie actor! Today we’ll be counting the Top Ten Bruce Campbell Roles, starting with number ten…..
10. My Name Is Bruce (Movie, 2007)

The plot is a little iffy and the ending is nothing more than a B-Movie send up, but who gives a damn about plot when Bruce Campbell is kicking ancient monster ass in a Hawaiian Shirt?
9. Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film For Theaters (Movie, 2007)

Stephen K Amos, Wallace and Gromit, Armstrong and Miller, Brimstone and the Psychoville Halloween Special. Plus great movies too in the coming week on UK TV!
This week, naturally, it's all about the scares and there are plenty of films and shows to provide the shivers for Halloween and the next seven days or so.
But the scheduling genies have also managed to squeeze in the laughs among the shrieks this week, for those too squeamish for the scream-inducing telly treats.
We start off with a newcomer to the eponymously named stand-up comedian sketch show club with The Stephen K Amos Show airing tonight, Friday, October 29th at 10:00pm on BBC2. There's plenty of room for series of this sort and we look forward, with a warm welcome, to Mr Amos' particular brand of funny stuff.

Despite the hype, the arrival of The Event tonight, Friday, October 22nd at 9:00pm on Channel 4 may be a non-you-know-what. The Us show's been accused of trading on the styles and tricks of popular predecessors in trying to fill the island-sized hole left by Lost. A theory has been formulating in my head for a long time now. Every time Nathan Fillion pops up in a film or on the TV, I can't help but think of similarities to Bruce Campbell.
No one should take this as an insult, since Nathan Fillion has become more mainstream than Campbell and has clocked up over 500,000 followers on his personal Twitter page. Yet for me, his career choices and his dedication to his fan mirror that of Bruce.

The Evil Dead Blu-Ray is on its way, so the La Times sat down with Bruce Campbell and asked him about Evil Dead 4 and where the hell it's hiding.
None of us have said no [to a fourth]. I think Sam [Raimi] is always tweaking with the idea. He’s joked with a couple of concepts. He has threatened to do it multiple times. He’ll put a false statement out just to torment people. We joke that when he’s got one eye left and I’m in the old actors’ home, that’s when we’ll do it. But we both have day jobs now. The “Evil Dead” movies, you really have to lock up about two years of your life for each “Evil Dead” movie and we don’t really have the time right now. Sam says that he will gladly get back on that track,...

Because everyone deserves a biopic apparently, James McCord (Malice) has penned a script chronicling the life of Ronald Reagan, based on two Paul Kenger biographies. There is no director or cast yet, but there is a release date (next year) because who needs a horse when you can just push the cart down the hill? Who the fuck do you get to play Reagan, anyway? (THR)
Bruce Campbell says that he'd like to make the Expendables version of a a horror movie, bringing in lots of horror icons -- like Robert Englund and, one would assume, Jeffrey Combs -- to play against their types. Campbell says there's a script right now, but that "it blows" and that "no one has seen it." He also wants to make it the sequel to My Name Is Bruce.
None of this will happen, but he's Bruce Campbell, and he's deserved the right to his pipe dream.
