Great story & acting ........

Cimmaron Strip was one of my favorite western TV series from the late 1960's. Stuart Whitman was at home in the west and his performances as the US Marshal in this series were always top-notch.

In this episode, two vagabonds are hung by villain David Brian's cowpokes ---- after being drug behind a couple of horses ! The men, wrongly suspected of rustling, are discovered by a family of religious immigrants (led by Star Trek's Mark Lenard).

This episode is compelling, featuring revenge, greed, religious conviction and family conflict. Whitman is outstanding, showing a resolute tenacity that made him the kind of lawman needed during those frontier days.

Highly recommended, one of the best of the series !

Arlyn Family Values

This final Cimarron Strip story has the Arlyn family coming west to settle in the Strip and witnessing a dragging and then later on seeing Dub Taylor and Shug Fisher swinging from a tree limb.

It was cattle baron David Brian a truly mean man who did the deed. But citing religious principles family patriarch Mark Lenard won't testify against Brian and his men.

It's all quite a tangle for Stuart Whitman. Mark Lenard and David Brian as two different kind of family patriarchs highlight this episode.

Trying to shake down the Devil!

A group of settlers are heading to Cimarron. On the way, they see some ranchers torturing some guys by dragging them from their horses. Later, they find the same two victims handing from a tree....and it's safe to assume the rancher and his men were responsible. However, the patriarch of the family refuses to testify when Marshall Crown learns about the hanging. In an incredibly foolish move, one of the sons approaches the rancher (David Brian) to shake him down!

So is this final episode any good? Absolutely. In fact, I cannot think of anything to complain about and it was an excellent end to an otherwise mediocre series.
