Jock's Will (1982)
Victoria Principal: Pamela Barnes Ewing
Quotes
-
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Bobby, is something the matter?
Bobby Ewing : Yes.
[hands over her drink]
Bobby Ewing : Frankly, I'm concerned about Daddy's will.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : The will?
Bobby Ewing : Mm-hmm. When that hearing is over, the will's gonna be opened. And I'm concerned about why Daddy had it sealed in the first place.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, aren't most wills sealed?
Bobby Ewing : No. Not unless you have something you're trying to hide.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : What would Jock have to hide from his family?
[her arm goes around Bobby's neck]
Bobby Ewing : [sighs] Oh, I don't know, honey. Maybe I'm wrong. But I'll tell you one thing I do know. That will is gonna determine who finally owns Ewing Oil. And I have a terrible feeling it's gonna be J.R.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Come on. That's not necessarily so.
Bobby Ewing : [takes sip of his drink, shakes his head] If that happens, honey... If Daddy gave him back the company, then you and I are gonna get out of here.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Bobby!
Bobby Ewing : I'm not gonna sit around and watch him take over again.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Aren't you jumping the gun just a little?
Bobby Ewing : Pam, I can run Ewing Oil. I proved it. I didn't use to want to, but now, damn it, I do.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Hey, wait a minute.
[sits down next to Bobby, stroking his face and hair]
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Why are you getting so worked up over something that'll probably never happen? Hmm? Wait until we know something for sure.
Bobby Ewing : Okay. You're right.
[kisses her hand, and they kiss]
-
Afton Cooper : Cliff thinks J.R. is going to get his old job back at Ewing Oil.
[nods]
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Is that true?
Bobby Ewing : It's possible, I suppose.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Excuse me, but can't anybody think of anything to talk about besides J.R.?
Cliff Barnes : I can't.
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Neither can I. And if J.R. is going to take over Ewing Oil again... as far as I'm concerned, it's all-out war.
Cliff Barnes : [light-hearted tone] Mama... you're vengeful!
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, if that's all you're gonna talk about, I'll leave.
[rises, starts leaving]
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Pam, wait!
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Bobby, I'd like to go.
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Please, darling...
Pamela Barnes Ewing : There's no sense in staying.
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Of course there is. Come on, now, sit down.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : You know, I thought for once we could all have a nice, quiet dinner together. And all you can do is talk about J.R. and revenge. Now, what's the point?
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Sit down. We'll change the subject.
[Pamela stands considering]
Rebecca Barnes Wentworth : Please!
[Pamela sits down again]
-
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Lucy, I know how you must feel, but what's done is done. You can't change some things.
Lucy Ewing Cooper : You don't know how I feel.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : I know how the abortion affected you... but moping around Southfork is not gonna make it better.
Lucy Ewing Cooper : [snidely] I'm not exactly up to partying yet.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, nobody's asking you to party. You might think about going back to work, though.
Lucy Ewing Cooper : Work?
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Why not? Call your agent. Get something done. You can't just sit around like this.
Lucy Ewing Cooper : I'm not ready to go back to work yet.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Yes, you are. You've just got to do it. And if you can't, maybe you should get some help.
Lucy Ewing Cooper : I don't need a psychiatrist.
Pamela Barnes Ewing : Well, then, prove it. Get up! Get out of that nightgown! Get out of this room! Join the world of the living again!
[leaves]
