Whilst the psychotic avenging Eddie is totally over the top he is however somewhat believable as an unhinged ex-con, though the fact he isn't put back in the slammer in the first half of the episode for smashing up places and committing another murder is less believable. Despite the cliched nature of this role the episode contains some quite subtle dialogue, conversation and backstory for McCall, who has been begged by his ex-wife to help protect his replacement, The new husband.
The maturity which both men interact with each other is a welcome bit of reality as they reach a degree of respect for each other, but McCall senses there is more to the man's relationship with Eddie than he has told his wife.
A solid episode that delivers.
