Officer Terry Webster: [the scene opens in the main corridor at the Precinct. A group of officers are gathered behind Officer Terry Webster, who is reading the bulletin board. He's laughing uproariously as he's reading the partner assignment list. He grins as he turns around, just as Officer Mike Danko walks up to them] Oooh, look at him. Here he comes... here he comes...
[Terry steps away from the board and joins the group, just as Mike walks up to them. He's not quite sure what is going on and smiles tentatively as Terry speaks to him]
Officer Terry Webster: Hi... how are you?
Officer Mike Danko: [Mike knows something is up when he sees the large group of grinning officers standing in the aisle. He smiles warily as he replies] Hi. I'm fine.
Officer Terry Webster: [Terry is enjoying this exchange at Mike's expense. He makes no effort to hide his merriment as he grasps Mike's upper arms] How ya feel?
Officer Mike Danko: [Mike gazes around, trying to guess what is going on] I'm ok.
Officer Terry Webster: [Terry playfully slaps Mike's arms lightly, intentionally dragging out his dialogue] Get some rest?
Officer Mike Danko: [Mike is completely mystified and stares back at Terry, smiling uncertainly] Yeah, I got some rest. What's it about?
Officer Chris Owens: [Officer Chris Owens, like everyone, is enjoying this. He joins in the conversation, unable to keep from smiling] Look at him... Mr Innocent.
Officer Terry Webster: [Terry assumes a mock-serious expression, trying to keep a straight face. He raises his hands, pretending surprise. He begins speaking in a theatrical manner] You need reasons? We're friends. We love you, that's all.
Officer Mike Danko: What is it?
[Mike's voice is very low, almost inaudible]
Officer Terry Webster: [Terry is having fun and is enjoying being the centre of attention. He puts his arm around Mike's shoulders and addresses the group of officers] He's gonna tell us he doesn't know what this is about.
Officer Mike Danko: What what's about?
[Mike raises his voice, getting slightly perturbed]
Officer Chris Owens: Get off it, Mike.
[Chris manages to keep a straight face]
Officer Terry Webster: You didn't request it? Huh? You mean you don't know who your new partner is?
[Terry is grasping Mike's shoulders. Mike tries to walk to the bulletin board but Terry pulls him back. He hugs him firmly, a mock-serious expression on his face. Mike smiles resignedly]
Officer Terry Webster: It's moments like this that make it all worthwhile. Moments of pure wonderment, when VIRTUE is finally... deservedly rewarded.
[Terry is speaking dramatically as he hugs Mike's shoulders, then leads him over to the bulletin board. Everyone is grinning as Mike finally sees who is new partner is. His face registers disbelief when he realises he's going to ride with Lt Ryker]
Danko is assigned as Ryker's partner and he's understandably horrified when he learns this since he now has to spend all day every day with that detestable dimwit.
This one mostly focuses on Ryker, but despite that, this is still an entertaining episode because of Vic, who's constantly trashing and taunting Ryker and I loved every minute of it. I mean, this guy is awesome. What a breath of fresh air he is. I just loved him. He even wanted to fight Ryker and of course Ryker being the cowardly weasel he is backed down from the fight like a feckless wimp. Yeah, sure, he can talk the talk but he can't walk the walk.
Owens got a haircut and his hair is looking much better now. It's straight and combed very nicely and he's looking much more professional now. He's been assigned to the dreaded desk duty and is depressed over it, but he should look on the bright side - at least he wasn't chosen to be Ryker's partner.
The hospital scenes are back and Jill has plenty to do as a couple of people take brutal beatings.
There's a nice shootout in a parking garage at the end but no car chases, which is rare.
So even though it focuses on Ryker, this one is still really good because of Vic and also the shootout at the end.
