  • Jules Gunther has a very nice house that Gessler desires. He offers to buy it for a knockdown price.

When Gunther refuses to sell, he is arrested and thrown into the dungeons.

Judge Furst is also later arrested because Gessler knows he would not convict Gunther.

It is Furst's clerk Schwarz who becomes the new judge as he is happy to placate Gessler.

William Tell plans to frighten Schwartz to go for a Not Guilty verdict and he makes sure he is drugged.

A lighthearted episode which suits Michael Ripper who plays Schwartz. Maybe there is just too much knockabout comedy with the whole moving the room to a cell and escaping through a well.
