    Warning: Spoilers
You get a sense of how vast and remote the area these country doctors cover.

When Doctor Finlay deals with an ill farmer, he cannot get to a nearby telephone to call an ambulance.

A man from the neighbouring large house ignores Finlay's call for assistance.

Dr Finlay finds out that the man is James Geddie who has been a recluse for years and never talks to anyone.

Soon Dr Finlay is called to help someone from the Geddie household which gives him a fuller picture.

There is change in the air with Dr Neil leaving. Hopefully this would mean Finlay would be less of a curmudgeon but it seems he and Dr Cameron have a huge workload as they temporary have to deal with Dr Gilmore's patients.

As for the Geddie story. It smacks of incest, child cruelty and a fire that might have been deliberately caused.
