  • Despite the commercial title 'Michelangelo Superstar' is quite a well-made biography of the great Michelangelo. It uses the technique of filling in actors to play the roles of the celebrity and other people of his time, but the acted scenes do not play a too important role. The documentary follows the life and principal landmarks in the work of Michelangelo in a chronological order. The comment does not have too many new things to say, but it is clear and informative, trying to look at the same time at the work, the historical background and the complex and contradictory personality of the artist. Maybe the fact that there are no new findings or a different perspective makes the whole film a little too conventional, but on the other side the good informative text leads to this documentary to be worth watching.
