Actor Rohit Roy returns to the big screen in the action drama "Mumbai Saga", which hits theatres on Friday. He loves doing high-octane action roles but asserts that he won't stick to just that genre.
"There is a soft spot for action in me because male actors always want to do action films. But I don't see myself doing just that. For me it's important that the action or thriller film I am a part of has a story behind it and my character moves that story. Mindless action is not a genre I see myself fitting into. For me, be it 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' or 'Kaabil' there has to be a story in between action," Rohit informs.
Rohit is fond of "Mumbai Saga" director Sanjay Gupta. The filmmaker has earlier directed Rohit in "Kaabil", and he also writer-producer of "Shootout At Lokhandwala".

If only Haseena Parkar didn’t suffer from the curse of a clunky, inept, shoddy central performance, it would have been a far more watchable potboiler on gangsterism. And I use the word ‘potboiler’ with all due respect. It’s not easy to make a massy masala movie out of the mayhem and murkiness of the mafia kingdom.
Rahul Dholakia’s Raees earlier this year wedded crime and kitsch. Apoorva Lakhia does it with a fair share of elan and chutzpah. Haseena Parkar is about that Dubai-based gangster who allegedly ran his nefarious business activities in Mumbai through his sister in the 1990s.
The brother and the sister had themselves a blast.
Fortuitously, Lakhia doesn’t miss Da-wood for the trees.

Rohit Roy best remembered for his roles in numerous TV serials and films like Fashion, Shootout At Lokhandwala and Loc Kargil to name a few, will soon be donning the directorial hat. In fact we hear that Rohit will be helming a yet untitled venture that will be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Commenting on the same a source close to the project adds, "Yes Rohit will be turning director with a film that is produced by Slb. However, it is still too early to talk about it." There is also a buzz that Abhay Deol might star in the film. When quizzed about Abhay Deol top lining the cast, the source denies the same saying, "As of now, just the scripting has been completed. As for Abhay Deol featuring in the film, we cannot confirm anything yet since we are still in the process of locking the cast." When further prodded for details,...

Ever since this film was announced, the hype surrounding Jazbaa has been almost surreal. The film sees director Sanjay Gupta (Shootout at Lokhandwala, Kaante, Musafir) working with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the first time with a stellar cast of national award winning actors Irrfan Khan and Shabana Azmi. Jazbaa is an action thriller with a hard hitting storyline. Its soundtrack is however, is very soothing to the ears with songs that are not over the top at all. Jazbaa is not the kind of film that would rely on music to influence its plot/storyline. It is a thriller and often with these kind of films we hear fast paced/dramatic songs but in the case of Jazbaa, the music is totally the opposite.

She does not not call it a come back but we cinema enthusiasts probably will continue to mark Jazbaa as a comeback of sorts as it is the return of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to the silver screen after a five year hiatus. (Yes we know she’s been busy brand-ambassador-ing her way to glory in this hiatus period but we still did not get a movie!)
So apart from stunning us in various elegant gowns at Cannes 2015 and performing her Loreal brand ambassador duties, Aishwarya’s attendance at the festival had more to it. She also unveiled the Jazbaa first look. Unless you have been living under a rock you’re probably already aware that Jazbaa is a Sanjay Gupta (Kaante) directorial which also stars Irrfan Khan, Jackie Shroff and Atul Kulkarni in title roles. There would be a while before third installment of Shootout series hits the screens. Even though Shootout at Wadala managed to earn some good moolah at the box office, there are no immediate plans to bring on next in the franchise. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is putting his time and energy into Mumbai Saga which he plans to turn into a franchise with a trilogy in the making. "Mumbai Saga is a magnum opus in the making and now Gupta has turned further ambitious by converting it into a franchise. High drama and action would form an integral part of the enterprise and his creative team is now putting together content to warrant a trilogy. While first in the series would go on floors in early 2014, other two would follow as well. This means for now, another Shootout is on hold," informs a source. This is surprising indeed, considering the fact...

He was once considered Bollywood’s rising star, with a string of hits and all the top directors signing him, but then ‘that’ incident with a certain big star happened, and so came crashing down Vivek Oberoi’s career. However 2013 will see a strong comeback for Vivek with the release of Grand Masti this month and Krrish 3 at Diwali.
Vivek will be playing the supervillain to Hrithik Roshan’s superhero, much like Arjun Rampal did in Ra.One. His character has thus far been kept under close guard, but industry insiders insist it is a performance to watch out for. No stranger to playing the villain, Vivek made a fine career out of doing so, most recently in Shootout at Lokhandwala. In fact he claims that he enjoys playing villainous roles and so when Krrish 3 was offered to him he simply jumped at the chance.

S. Hussain Zaidi is a Mumbai based investigative crime journalist, who has worked for some of India’s leading newspapers. One of his previous best selling books was Black Friday, which Anurag Kashyap successfully transformed onto screen. His most recent book is Dongri to Dubai: Six decades of the Mumbai Mafia and from this book has Shootout at Wadala been created. Sanjay Gupta says without it he could not have made this film, Anil Kapoor called it by far the best book on the Mumbai mafia and John Abraham hailed Zaidi as a master storyteller. If you have not had a chance to read the book, take it from us, it is an absolutely amazing book and having read the book recently, our expectations are sky high for the film. Further, Sanjay Gupta is back after a long hiatus and John Abraham attempts the role of gangster for the first time.

The prequel to the smash hit, Shootout At Lokhandwala, is based on Hussain S. Zaidi’s bestslling investigative book – Dongri to Dubai. Adapting a non-fiction book into a film requires special skills because of the need to sieve all the facts presented in the book into the film’s narrative and all this while, keeping the film entertaining! This is exactly the reason I was intrigued to watch this film and to see what Sanjay Gupta had done with the subject material.

Contrary to reports in certain leading newspapers, the Big B who played the iconic cop Vijay in Prakash Mehra's Zanjeer in 1973 won't be making an appearance in the remake. Efforts to get the Big B to be part of Zanjeer have failed. Apparently, the film's team was enormously keen to get the super-iconic star to do a cameo. It seems every effort was made to get the Big B into the picture, until the last minute. Finally the beard proved the villain. Says a source close to the project, "The neo - Zanjeer team was very keen to get Amitji on board right from the start. However, Mr. Bachchan's other commitments prevented him from putting in a token appearance as a senior cop. Finally when it seemed he would somehow accommodate the neo - Zanjeer's dream to have him in their film his beard became the villain." The...

Mumbai, Feb 9: Bollywood actress Neha Dhupia, whose career has been a mixed bag so far, admits she has made mistakes in her career but says she doesn't regret any of them.
The former Miss India has been a part of popular films like "Kyaa Kool Hai Hum", "Shootout at Lokhandwala" and "Singh Is Kinng" as well as duds like "Sheesha" and "Paying Guest".
"I have made mistakes, but they are not regrets, and I don't want to talk about my mistakes," Neha told Ians in an interview.

He’s naive and this creates problems for him” Adding that, “I wanted to surprise myself, the audience, with all that you can do with a ‘bhai’ character. Jayanta is very vulnerable and emotional. He’s very real, that’s what makes him endearing and entertaining.”
Interestingly Kiran Kotrial, who scripted the Kumar Taurani production, calls Jayanta’s character a mix of what happens when...
