“All my friends have worked with the Muppets. Everybody I know has done a thing with the Muppets and I always felt a little bit left out,” Michael Caine told Et in 1992 on the set of The Muppet Christmas Carol, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. “But they only did half-hour television shows and I got to do a two-hour movie, so it's great.”
While Caine donned the trademark robes and night cap to portray Ebenezer Scrooge, the reimagining of the Charles Dickens classic also featured Kermit as Bob Cratchit, Fozzie as Mr. Fozziewig (modified from Fezziwig), Miss Piggy as Mrs. Cratchit and Gonzo as Dickens, who hilariously narrates the story with Rizzo the Rat. Despite the recognizable names and faces, some voices of the characters would sound a little different to Muppet fans.

The pitch reel for Jim Henson’s cyberpunk Muppets TV series just looks flat out freaky. I say that not with disdain but with true and genuine surprise since most of the Muppets looks so comical that they’re easy to accept and like. But those devised for this segment, which never took, are just flat out creepy looking. The music was good, the idea was sound, but it’s not much of a surprise that it didn’t take off like Henson wanted to. In many ways it was a spoof show designed to parody the many different upstart cable shows that were

Nathan Fillion's detective series Castle will end next Monday, with the season 8 finale wrapping up the show for good...
Castle has been cancelled by ABC, serving as another casualty in this day of somewhat soul-destroying TV news. We’d known for a while that Stana Katic was set to depart the show after season 8, but the assumption was that Nathan Fillion’s Rick Castle would carry on without her. Those assumptions, it turns out, were wrong.
Castle has been running since 2009 and has a fairly fervent fan base. Among us geeks, the show’s nods towards Mr Fillion’s Firefly days were always very welcome.
Castle’s creator and original showrunner Andrew Marlowe has taken to Twitter, thanking everybody involved in making and supporting the series...
To the whole Castle family- our amazing cast, our remarkable crew, our imaginative writers & our wonderful fans, thank you for 8 amzing yrs!

ABC has renewed Once Upon A Time for a sixth season, and Will Scarlet actor Michael Socha has been chatting about his time on the show...
Latest news
Michael Socha, who played the Knave Of Hearts aka Will Scarlet first on spin-off Once Upon A Time In Wonderland and later on the main show, says there's still a chance his character may return to Storybrooke. "They didn’t kill me," he said. "I get on really well with the writers, Eddie and Adam [Kitsis and Horowitz]."
If he was to return to Once though, Socha told us he'd need "a guarantee though that I’m going to be doing something worthwhile. I don’t want to be doing a job where I’m not doing a job, just sitting around in my flat just bored".

The Muppets are back! And they're bett — okay maybe not better than ever, but they're certainly diff — um, okay, maybe not that different either. But they do have a cute little penguin now!So, I'm still waiting for The Muppets to find its footing as the show I so wanted it to be. (I may have been building things up for myself since the new showrunner was announced in November.) The format, which may be the show's weakest aspect, hasn't changed. Jokes still land somewhat rarely, though I watched so much 30 Rock over the past week my joke-expectation ratio might be a little skewed. I still felt that old sighing pang of knowing that a new Muppets TV show exists, despite it feeling absolutely nothing like the Muppets. At least at the beginning of the episodes, Kermit sounds genuinely excited to "get things started." I am tempted to...

New York Comic Con is this week, which means I have way too much to do and so not enough time to do it. Let’s be honest, I am so behind in my planning, I’ve decided to ignore it all, veg out and watch TV. So, I’m relaxing with The Muppets.
Have you watched the new Muppets TV show yet? It’s a fun diversion, especially with prep work looming overhead. Now, I am too young to have watched the first series, but I remember watching the reruns as a kid. This brings me back to those happy memories and feelings, mostly because I am still a kid.
The current series has been billed as The Muppets for grown-ups documentary style series, similar to The Office. We watch the whole Muppet family work together on Miss Piggy’s late night show. All the old favorites are there,...

Brendon responds to claims that ABC's The Muppets "gets everything wrong" about the Henson Oz creations, and the boycott call...
Without seeing last week’s premiere episode of The Muppets, the group One Million Moms had called for a boycott. “The mature version of The Muppets will cover a range of topics from sex to drugs,” they said, noting that “Miss Piggy came out as a pro-choice feminist during an MSNBC interview. The puppet characters loved by kids in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond are now weighing in on interspecies relationships and promiscuity.”
Well... I’ve only seen two more episodes than the big fat zero seen by the group, so I don’t really know how much accidental truth there will eventually be in their gong-banging guesses, but it’s a matter of record that Piggy is definitely pro-choice and the show does have some points to make about interspecies relationships,...

ABC
After being off the air for nearly 20 years, the Muppets are back on television! The gang’s last show was Muppets Tonight, which was cancelled by ABC after only 10 episodes. Now, after a whole bunch of successful movies and a great 2011 reboot, the network is finally trying again with a more adult oriented, 30 Rock style series, The Muppets.
Anticipation for this show has been extremely high because, well, they’re the freaking Muppets. Millions of people have fond memories of growing up with them, and because of that, making a new show is tricky business. It has to honor the legacy of what’s come before while doing something different, and from the get go, half the audience is already skeptical that it won’t be as good as the Jim Henson era. So can it live up to the hype, and even more than that, can a Muppets TV...

If The Muppets make the transition back to TV, it’ll be in a way we’ve never seen them before. New details have surfaced about the upcoming ABC pilot starring Jim Henson‘s famous characters and it seems this version will have a more adult feel. It’ll be shot as a mock-documentary, like The Office, centered on the behind-the-scenes […]

Muppets Most Wanted disappointed at the box office - so where does that leave plans for another Muppets movie?
News
Nicholas Stoller's latest film, Bad Neighbours (known as Neighbors in most of the rest of the world) has proven to be the first surprise smash hit of the summer. Starring Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, the movie opened to nearly $50m of business last weekend in the Us alone.
Stoller directed that one, but he's also been the man who's co-written the last two Muppets films, including the recent Muppets Most Wanted. The latter hasn't enjoyed such box office success sadly, with the film taking a disappointing $70m worldwide. Hurt by competition from the likes of Rio 2 and Mr Peabody And Sherman, the film's take is a long way shy of the $165m grossed by The Muppets two years earlier.
So: what happened? Stoller, talking to IndieWire, said...

While everyone knows The Muppets for their numerous theatrical successes, Jim Henson’s loveable creations also had many excellent outings on the small screen as well. Hosting their own type of variety hour, The Muppet Show really started the world’s love for Kermit and his gang, but a new generation of fans who only have films like the recent Muppets Most Wanted are missing out on a whole section of Muppets history. Thankfully though, that might be changing.
Many people know filmmaker Nicholas Stoller for his directorial work on Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Greek, and the uproarious frat comedy Neighbors (which you shouldn’t miss). What you may not know is that Stoller also co-wrote both recent Muppet movies. While in New York City today to promote Neighbors, I sat down with the Stoller and decided to see if there were any future plans for Jim Henson’s franchise.

The Muppets, depending on where you live, are about to return or have returned to the big screen, with that wonderful new blockbuster paradigm of a movie that is both a reboot and sequel (or prequel) at the same time.
Simply titled The Muppets, the movie stars and is co-written by Judd Apatow regular, Jason Segel. The original songs are written by one half of Flight Of The Conchords, Brett McKenzie. The traditional Muppet movie roster of celebrity cameos includes the likes of Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis and Neil Patrick Harris.
So: are the Muppets getting a little edgier this time around? If you look at the history of the Muppets, not really.
