Well, folks, 2011 is officially in the can, and surprisingly it wasn't such a horrendous year. It was definitely better than 2010, which was a huge step up from the putrid 2009. We laughed, we applauded, we were left dumbstruck, and of course we were infuriated. Read on for our cheers and jeers!
Now, with a fresh movie-watching start before us, we're taking our usual yearly look back at the good, the bad, the Wtf, and everything in between.
And don't be lazy by just reading along! Get off of your asses and give us your lists in the comments section below. We wanna hear from you if only to compare notes. Lots and lots of notes.
Speaking of notes, the most common complaint we've heard over the years is that we don't have one definitive list representing Dread Central as a whole so for 2011 we dropped everyone's choices in the blender, hit puree,...

D.E.B.S. was actually made twice. First as a short starring Tammy Lynn Michaels, and later as a feature length film with a larger budget and distribution. The latter version came out in 2004 and was just as gay — if not gayer — than the original.
So what happened to the ladies of the feature film D.E.B.S.?
Sara Foster as good girl Amy
D.E.B.S. was Sara's first feature film, and she was its star. Since then, she's had a few minor roles on TV shows and movies (Psych:9, Demoted) but most recently she's appeared in the recurring role of Jen Clark on 90210. She is often photographed watching the matches of her boyfriend, professional German tennis player Tommy Haas.
Jordana Brewster as bad girl Lucy
Jordana went on to star in Anapolis and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning before getting the role of Mia Torreto in Fast & The Furious, which turned into the...

It’s not very entertaining, very scary, or even very good, but I have to give Psych:9 credit for being a hallucinatory little bit of horror cinema. Most twist endings or last minute revelations make no sense, or call into question the entirety of the movie that’s come before. Psych:9, on the other hand, makes little narrative sense from the get go, a very ballsy thing for a mainstream movie to do. It’s disorienting, full of surreal scenes whose reality or unreality is in serious question. That would totally be to the film’s credit, if it had more going for it than a weird sense of plotting.
Rosalyn (Sara Foster) gets a job working the overnight collating files in an abandoned and soon to be torn down hospital. Rosalyn starts hallucinating, and seeks solace from the only other person working overnight there, Dr. Clement (Cary Elwes) who...

*Here be some spoilers.
Director: Andrew Shortell.
Writer: Lawrence Robinson.
Psych:9 was shot in the Czech Republic and recently this film moved to DVD and Blu-ray February 22nd. This film stars Sara Foster (90210), Cary Elwes (Saw), and Michael Biehn. Released by Ghost House Underground, Psych:9 delves into the cluttered subconscious of a young woman, named Roslyn (Foster). In reality, Roslyn would be a dream client for a private psychologist, with future bills paid for years. However, this protagonist is a nightmare to those around her, as many of her co-workers and acquaintances find themselves riddled with knife, or hammer wounds.
All aboard the spoiler train; Roslyn is a damaged young woman, who is attempting to recover from deep emotional scars. Her father raped her and her mother attempted to kill her. So understandably she is not very good company for her husband, Cole (Gabriel Mann). Sexually aloof, Roslyn attempts to...

Review by Mike Pickle, MoreHorror.com
The tag line for the recent Ghosthouse Pictures release, Psych:9 is, "Fear is all in the mind". It certainly is. The fear is firmly set in the mind of the filmmakers, but it never quite reaches the viewer. Unless, of course, you count the many cheap jump scares helped along with shaky camera, blurred images and the typical loud jump-scare music. These scares are peppered throughout the film and are placed seemingly at random just to break away from the monotonous drama of the story and the melodramatic acting.
Psych:9 is another one of those "psychological thrillers" that is way more into itself than you are. Every scene is so heavy and supposed to carry so much meaning that, by the time the movie is half way through, you don't care anymore and are just waiting to see if it's leading up to something really cool.

While there aren't any horror releases by major studios this week, there is, however, one notable film that should make up for the drought we are having. It is a film that should be re-subtitled "Shock and Awe" as that was how our @Foywonder felt after viewing Birdemic: Shock and Terror.
Anyway, this avian midnight movie sensation is directed by James Nguyen and stars Alan Bagh, Whitney Moore, Janae Caster, Colton Osborne, and Adam Sessa plus five seconds of stock footage of Tippi Hedren from a previous film.
This week also brings us Psych: 9 from Ghost House Underground. This film is directed by Andrew Shortell and produced by Gareth Jones; it stars Sara Foster, Cary Elwes, Michael Biehn, and Gabriel Man. Rounding out the list are a wacky concept that has warrior creatures battling it out for our amusement and a fusion ghost story.

Abandoned hospitals. They are staples in the horror genre for almost as long as movies have been around. Psych:9 is the next film of a creepy, rundown health facility that becomes the gloomy and grim setting of dastardly and grisly deeds being done in the dark night. Andrew Shortell directs his first full length feature film and though he conveys are very reactive unsettling atmosphere, his ability to tell the story cohesively deems to much for the short film director.

Michael Biehn aka Hicks in a genre movie always means good times. Throw in Cary Elwes of “Saw” fame (or for you hopeless romantics out there, Wesley) and you can count on some good fun, even in the midst of the blood and guts; the guy always makes me chuckle for some reason. The two’s latest is the psychological horror/thriller “Psych 9″ from director Andrew Shortell. The film co-stars Sara Foster, who actually anchors the film. The plot finds her linking a series of murders in town to the creepy place she’s currently working. Nothing good ever happens in creepy places, to be sure, but maybe Hicks can save her.
