  • Warning: Spoilers
"Nurses" is a television movie from 2007, so this one has its 10th anniversary this year. It is a pilot episode, but it did not get picked up by anybody for a whole season or more. From one perspective, this is a bit of a pity, namely the more wee from Eliza Dushku the better. It really doesn't get any more stunning than her (back then). As the title suggests, she plays a nurse in here, who is also the daughter of the hospital director. She has some wild years behind her and went to nursing school and now she arrived in that profession. We follow her work life, private etc. in here and her struggles, but there is also some focus on other nurses, including a male nurse. So yeah, of course the patients also play a major role here and here we have a sick old woman and her broken relationship with her daughter. It says comedy as one of the genres here on IMDb, but this is not true I think, it's 100% drama with all the (attempts at) emotion that comes with that. It is also incorrect that this episode runs for 8 minutes. It runs for 44 roughly. As a whole, I am not too mad this did not get picked up as I probably would not have kept watching after the pilot episode. There is nothing really memorable in here (apart from Dushku's beauty), nothing we haven't seen already in one of the other hospital shows, frequently done better. It's a bit of a disappointment this turned out so forgettable as some people working on the show have a pretty good history and won awards. I also see one of the two writers worked on the brilliant film "Disconnect" not too long ago and I must say he definitely stepped his game up since 2007. This one here is not worth watching. Thumbs down.
