Casting auditions for 250 extras were held in Plymouth, England on August 6 and 7, 2008. Requirements were for people with a "Victorian look" and for applicants to have no visible tattoos, piercings, or dyed hair.

The cake that makes you bigger is called "Upelkuchen". It is odd that it contains the German word for cake, "Kuchen", yet it is pronounced in a completely un-German way (kut-chen). This seems rather to miss the point of the name, as it makes no sense without subtitles.
The beginning credits are seen to be flying through a city. The 3D version makes this twice as amazing.
