  • Not much of a short movie, more like a thirty-minute music video. Funny and catchy tracks make enjoyable to watch. No deep lyrics, but that doesn't matter in this comedy rap genre.

What else did you expect from The Lonely island? They always make you have a good time.

Comedy rap? More please! Worth the watch!
  • Loved every minute of it. Pure lonely island comedy. They did it again and they will never seem to disappoint me. Great stuff

    Wow!
Love it, it is a easy comedy. I can't explain but love it haha! Give it a chance.
  • The lonely island have consistently released hilarious content. Pop star comes to mind when trying compare this to something. But this is much different, like the title, It's an experience. it's something I will watch again and again, all the songs are absolutely amazing and the production for the music videos are crazy. I think the lonely island have struck gold with this, I've been listening to the album on repeat since it came out, i highly recommend this to any comedy fans
  • This was weird and hilarious and a trip back into the 80's and reminded me of a time I actually liked watching baseball. This is a rip at Jose Conseco and Mark McGuire who were mega stars back in the 80's. Why they decided to pick on these guys now is a bit baffling... and funny, so I guess I just answered my own question.

There were some trippy things going on and I couldn't help but think this was made for someone to watch after getting REALLY high or maybe they were high when they made it. Regardless I found myself laughing at it, it was highly entertaining but at the same time I was glad it didn't last longer than 30 mins.

If you like other things from the Lonely Island gang you will most likely like this, so if you are a fan of previous work then I would recommend.
  • GREAT Visuals enjoyed the cameos other than that blah... but

#LetsBASH song was Definitely Classic Lonely Island SMASH!
  • Stumbled upon this lastnight and pressed play as soon as I saw that the boys were back. The best thing about the latest from the lonely island is that it doesn't overstay its welcome and gives the fans exactly what they want, good songs that will get stuck in your head and quick one liners that you and your friends can resight and laugh at. Its light, its rude and it's exactly what we expect from these guys. 9/10
  • Do not think of this as a movie. This is an album containing songs about the two real baseball players, Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. The movie is 30 minute long video which depicts the lives of the 2 baseball players in the eyes of the lonely island. The movie is like a musical which only contains songs and although most people may not like the sound of watching a musical, its honestly decent for what it is. The only criticism I have is that the acting is too pretentious which is to be expected but in this case its a bit much. Other than this its worth watching.
  • Why is this album (and all their others) way better than the "legit" rap music released today? I just love their stuff, music that I am not even close to being embarrassed to bumping in the car.
  • I FREAKING love Andy Samberg. This was short and sweet and Awesome. Had me cracking up. Nice job fellas!

I love old The Lonely Island, but I didn't hear any joke during these 30 minutes. It is not even close to the hilarious Lemonading of Titus for exemple. I give it 3 points for visual effects and for some good actors.
  • Boasting serene, gluttonous visuals, The Lonely Island has graced us with a visual buffet. The soundtrack is poppy with self aware quips and nonsensical cuts, all leading into each other gracefully, with monstrous production and a supporting cast filled with A listers.

Definitely give this a watch if you have even a sliver of interest, your comedic soul will be filled.

It was certainly a sensory overload and hard to describe as the format was peculiar. This is a parody and mockery of The Bash Brothers; Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Initially famous for crushing baseballs over the fence and later admitting to juicing; using steroids to aid in their mammoth blasts. I have no idea what or who 'The Lonely Island' is but this parody is part music video(s) and comedy-drama all woven together in a way that makes you feel like you are mainlining Red Bulls. Other descriptors: Weird, jarring, funny, unexpected and what's going on here? And at 30 minutes, short enough hang with it for the duration.

I don't understand all the high ratings. Maybe you have to be high to enjoy this. I have been a fan of the lonely island for a long time and was surprised how bad this is.
  • Within this 30 minute masterpiece is some of the best writing, production, direction, sound, acting and just about everything else that you will encounter within the 21st century. Every millisecond of time within this magnum opus from The Lonely Island team is calculated and conjured to deliver the ultimate entertainment affect from 0:00 to 30:00. To say that The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience will win an award is an understatement-the true focus is how many awards will TUBBE receive.

This is, once again, The Lonely Island at their best. God I laughed so hard for 30 minutes. I loved how they kept this whole thing a secret until the very last second, the element of surprise made it even more fun. I hope they earn some notable musical nominations with this content like they did before, they totally deserve it. Also, hopefully this "visual poem" doesn't get underrated as Popstar did (and still does).
  • "The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience" is about the strangest made for Netflix film you can find. It's a half hour of head-scratching strangeness. So strange that my wife's head nearly exploded when she noticed me watching it.

Back in the late 1980s, Mark McGuire and Jose Canseco were two huge home run hitting stars for the Oakland Athletics. Someone (who cares who?!) dubbed the duo 'the Bash Brothers' and Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer star in this hiphop experience. Most of what they sing about has nothing to do with the baseball players and the lyrics are often just bizarre and headache-inducing. Yes, it's that weird.

Now I am sure this is considered a comedy, but I think it's much more like performance art...something meant to confuse you and screw with your mind...which it does in spades! My advice is find someone you want to jerk around and watch it with them...and insist that the film makes sense! Now THAT'S funny.

As far as a rating...I simply cannot rate this. It's too odd...too disjoint...too untraditional to rate or even describe well. Just see it and see what I mean.
  • In all fairness to the Lonely Island, I really like most of their songs and movies like Hot Rod and Popstar, I find them absolutely hilarious, but this was just plain bad, in my opinion. I totally get their absurd comedy, which is why I like them but I only got a couple of chuckles out of this poor effort. Plus, a rap album by Jose Canceco and Mark McGwire? It's an awful idea, so uninteresting, uninspired, an outright borefest.

They went a bit too far with the absurdity; I reckon the visuals were amazing though. The songs were bland, pretty much sounding the same, only two were passable. I read all the mostly positive reviews in here and I couldn't help but to think these users are being sarcastic, it's just laughable.

No chance I'm rewatching this, I'll just stick to their older songs and movies.
  • How is it possible that comedy rap is better than this rap that we hear today on the radio?......

Amazing album and short film 👌👈yee I am dancing Wright now! 😃
  • I don't know if I missed something but this is clearly Lonely Islands lowest point. There is little humor, the music is hard to even listen to, it's like a 30 minute fart joke, that no one thought was funny to begin with. Maybe time to hang up the boat shoes there boys, hopefully their first album made them enough money to retire.
  • Everything these guys touch is gold best 30minutes on my tv since popstar. Absolutely hilarious keep bringing us more!
  • These guys are really good at making comedic rap songs also sound like good rap songs. From the Beastie Boys (Uniform On), the obvious Bay Area/E-40 style (Let's Bash), to newer artists like Juice WRLD and other melodic "Mumble Rappers" (Daddy), they really understand how to make good songs. While they always seem to fall back to the "Beastie Boys Style" (the hard beat with the yell rap and synchronized/doubled ends of sentences), they always make it funny.

The art direction is great and when I found out Mike Diva had a hand in directing this whole thing, it all made sense. Lots of 80's Outrun/Vaporwave influences going on. I'd say I want them to make another one but it feels like there could never be a duo as eccentric as Jose and Mark to parody like this.

You can definitely tell Andy, Jorma, and Akiva grew up during the heyday of the A's and were influenced by the Bash Brothers to make this mockumentary as a testament to their childhoods.
  • The lonely island guys are back. Or did they ever leave? No? Well maybe they should have. Parody songs are great, if you're 11-14 years old. This whole thing was played out while they were still airing on SNL. There is no re-watch-ibility here. Referencing 30 year old sports incidents when your audience is 10 years younger than that and couldn't throw a ball if you promised them all the moustache wax in the world seems like a swing and a miss (see what I did there?). Comparing this to Popstar is a legit thing tho, both of the productions proving it's who you know in Hollywood, not the strength of the feature, that gets things made. For shame Samberg.
  • Absolutely stunning. Visually gorgeous and genuinely moving in parts. An absolute masterpiece that gets better with each view/listen.

The bar has been raised in the comedy rap game yet again.
  • I just liked one song and that's it. Most references flew over my head and almost none of the jokes landed. I like TLI so this was a disappointment. I was expecting something similar to Popstar.
