The show has no dramatic writing team.
While Tony Khan maintains ultimate creative control as the head writer and owner of AEW, and makes the final approval for all segments and planned scripts that make it to air, he permits the wrestlers to write the vast majority of their promos themselves. As far as story lines, Khan usually gives the wrestlers general outlines, and allows them a fair amount of leeway to fill in specific details of the stories and matches themselves or in a collaborative effort with Khan. This has been seen as a breath of fresh air by professional wrestling fans, which have noticed a marked improvement in match quality, promo work, commentary work, and overall presentation quality of the promotion as a whole. Even the AEW wrestlers have praised Khan for being very approachable with new ideas, as well as listening to what the fans want to see, his overall intelligence and business savvy, prioritizing the well-being of the wrestlers, and having younger wrestlers paired with and mentored by much more experienced wrestlers, a prime example being the pairing of Darby Allin with legendary wrestler Sting.
