After contemplating for a moment, Jack hops up from the couch, grabs his hat, jacket and keys and limps out of the door into the real world for a break.
At the neighborhood bar, acquaintances wave. One of them comes over and greets Jack. A routine annoyance that simply adds to Jack's frustration and boredom about the superficial nature of Hollywood. The sentiment deepens as he notices a seemingly self absorbed man wearing sunglasses sitting next to him without noticing him.
SPOILER:
When the man accidentally drops his credit card on the floor, Jack notices the man, Peter Soleta, is blind. Jack has a change of heart and picks up the card for Peter. After the two engage in a conversation for a few minutes, Jack feels like Peter is someone he would like to keep in touch with and ask for Peter's information. After Peter gives Jack his business card, Jack is shocked to discover that Peter is a sound stage engineer and marvels at the fact that overcomes his blindness to become a great sound stage engineer in Hollywood.
