First off, if you've never read anything by jaymin Eve, I highly recommend it! Her stories provides laughs, comfort, and portals to worlds with characters you want to hate, be friends with, and fall in love with! Supernatural academy is actually based off of her characters from her dragon marked series with the title from her supernatural academy series. Even if you haven't read any of those I believe this story line is good for all ages ( towards the last handful of episodes there is a few swear words. You've been prewarned for your younger kids if that is something you worry about). Im so happy to see these characters I've read come to life and couldn't be more happy on how it's turned out! Many may gripe about the graphics, but just think about it. The people who created this took a chance! Who knows, maybe next season will have more funding and the graphics will get better! I sure hope so!

Yes this show is driffent from Jaymin's books but it is still a great show. I really hope it gets a second season. Great diversity and representation without making a nice deal of it. It's just there. Pre-teen friendly even ok for younger kids too depending on their maturity level. Enjoyed it immensely.

Things didn't look too bad at the start, the simple 3d models of the foodstuffs and such I passed off as design choices, then the school was revealed; mobile 3d games manage to have nicer buildings with richer scenery, everything seems empty and flat. The characters fortunately aren't that bad and are fairly expressive. But what keeps me watching is the story, it doesn't seem groundbreaking, but it's entertaining comfort food, the character interactions are nice. Don't expect to much and this will be enjoyable, though often times you'll think "this deserves better looking execution"
I loved the series based off of Jaymin eves books. The first series does good job of covering the story line and can't wait for the second season. The charchters help create a lively world. It will make you want to reread her books if have read and read if have not.

Supernatural Academy is thoroughly amusing and proves difficult to put down. The show sports an ambiguous animation style more commonly seen in series meant for children under ten, and while most of the developments throughout would be acceptable for younger audiences, occasional cursing and suggestive dialogue push this show to an odd tv-14+. The intriguing world building and plethora of fantasy potential for future episodes keep the story interesting and leave plenty of room for eagerly anticipated expansion and growth. Despite already being very fun, if Supernatural Academy ever decides to focus on the higher age range and strays away from the safe and easy relationship developments (romantic and otherwise) introduced so far while simultaneously capitalizing on its world of possibilities, we will be met with something truly magical.

This show has a lot going for it... but some going against it as well.
Let's start with the politics. I'm very left leaning, even trans. And even for me, this show felt a bit forced... I appreciate a lot of it though. The characters introduce themselves, then say their pronouns. Which... feels a bit clunky and could've been put in more subtly. Instead of saying "I'm 'Name' and I am a she slash her." they could've gone with "I'm 'Name', she her." Feels less forced and awkward. But this is a minor gripe for me.
Admittedly, I'm still glad they do this though. Helps normalise things.
Like, I can get why some people might see this as preachy... or "shoving it down your throat". But most people with this take would say the same thing if there was a single gay character in the background. (They did that with lightyear, right?)
There's a lot of things around disability, but indirectly. For example, the Mermaids are all in wheelchairs. Instead of magically having human legs. Which is a bit odd in a world of magic, but good inclusivity.
The story has a whole lot of stuff based around being born "different" and hated for it.
The big bad guys come in with the power of authority and ignorance from hearsay and being raised to hate things. Comes in to lock people who are different in internment camps.
This is what I meant about the story being political. The show comes off as being aimed at young teenagers but has very heavy political themes.
Perhaps... important political lessons. But still something that people should know about before going in. I was watching tv to take a break from politics as it was causing some severe depression.
Politics can get pretty daunting.
Still, it's good the show is accepting... I'd rather find that out than find out it's hateful... That'd definitely be worse.
Negatives: The biggest issue this show has, is the animations. The show feels like an early 2000s show on fox kids. It doesn't look terrible, by any means. Except when they run. Characters look okay for most of the show, except when moving quickly. They just look so incredibly awkward.
The lip syncing isn't very good either. The voices often feel very disjointed and awkward. Like no matter what language you're watching it in, it feels dubbed over. Which isn't the worst thing in the world by any means. People who have to watch dubbed shows will be used to this. Just don't look at characters lips too much.
Some scenes feel pretty awkward. Like for a few minutes, there's a scene where the faerie is singing to some plants in a faerie language. Which would be fine, except it goes on for a long time. With the focus mostly being on them while little else is happening. Which like I said, just feels a little awkward.
The story feels a bit rushed as well, but I won't spoil it for you. It moves very quickly. Could do with more filler. And not singing to plants, but like, they're in a school but we rarely see them go to classes. I know people dislike filler but this show could've done with being a bit longer. Let us get to know the characters more, see their lives!
The villains just seem to be evil for the sake of evil. They go from being school bullies, to murderous at the drop of a hat. I know bullies can often be murderous, but I feel it's a touch disingenuous to just have them be evil. Most villains have reasons for why they are villains... Even the people who bullied me have reasons. They don't justify them, but a good story should at least explain them. Having characters who are just evil because they're evil, is disappointing.
I dunno if it's my age(30), but characters are sometimes a bit cringey. Trying too hard to be cool... maybe that's intentional though.
More Positives: There's a Scottish character, I'm scottish, I feel like he sounds good. No arguments here!
The characters are great and their designs are very cool. My favourite, despite awkward scenes singing to plants. Is the Faerie with their lavender skin. They felt the most interesting to me. And yes, I'm typing they on purpose. They/them faerie. I'm partial to druidy elf types. (Night elves for the win!)
The story, despite depressing me somewhat, is really good. If it's able to invoke depression, then surely that means it's well written, right?
Just like when you hate a villain in a movie, you don't hate the actor, it just means that actor has done a very good job of portraying someone hateable. (Some people do hate the actor, but these people are idiots.)
Speaking of actors, while the voices don't sync up very well, as said before. The voices are very good for the characters. Very expressive, very well done, no complaints there. It's just the animation that is a bit awkward.
Overall: This show is good. It has some flaws, but what show doesn't? I give it 7 out of 10. 5 being a "meh", 4 being an "ugh" 6 being a "It's alright". It's better than alright, it's definitely good. It's definitely something I'd watch more of if they ever made any more. It's also something I'd recommend to friends, for sure!
While the political side of things is definitely heavy, it shares a good message and that's the most important part of any political message.
If you watch it... I hope you enjoy it!
If you avoid it, based on my review... I guess that's fair, maybe someday in the future you might consider it.
Regardless of what you choose to do... I hope you have a lovely day! I thank you for reading my review, or skipping to the end. Either way!

This series is so good!! Not only is it created from one of my favorite book series but it's something that I get to enjoy with my daughter's. They're all interested!! I can't wait for season 2.

I was interested by the visual art style and the subject matter. I saw fantasy with shapeshifters and I was engaged.
The characters weren't bad and the plot was engaging enough. I think it can be a bit simple sometimes, but there wasn't much that I didn't enjoy in some way. Even when the plot went up and down, the bad I found entertaining regardless.
I've heard this is based off of some books, but I've never read them. It seems it diverged a bit, and it seems they made it with a younger audience in mind. Even as an adult, I find the show nice to watch.
There's a decent amount of diversity which makes the characters have more flavor to them. I feel some of the world building is weak, which contributes to the plot later. For example, the trolls aren't main characters, but their designs are very generic and repetitive.
I'd say, it's a good series to watch. Check it out if you want something with supernatural/fantasy and shapeshifters, with colorful visuals. Enjoy the highs and lows, even the bad moments are entertaining.

It seems like the overall story could have been good and maybe the books are better, but it just seems like a mess. The pacing of the story is terrible. Twins meeting for the first time and no one seems to bat an eye and just throw the one into a new school with various monsters. A mother and father having split and each taking one of the twins with them, like the parent trap, only to have them go back together at the first sign of trouble. What was even the point?
The writing/dialog for the show seems like its for kids, but then they mix in a few cuss words, add in the typical political correctness, and bam you have a story that really isn't for kids, adults and or teens. Pick an audience and go with it.
The premise of the story is enough to draw you in for a bit but then again, most things are lost with bad pacing and weird child like adult content. Image someone who was turned into a vampire at the age or 12, who lived for 100 years, but was emotionally stunted as almost a teen, decides to create a show, this would be it.

This show is awesome. I love the characters and the story. It pulls you in where you just have to keep watching it. If you have read the authors books don't expect it to be the same. It does follow some of the story but not all, but that is what makes it just as awesome as her books are.

If you have not read the books I think you would like it. If you have read the books realize that this is a "woke" version with many character changes to fit Hollywood. Hollywood did not understand their audience and lovers of the books. Or they just did not read them.
Jaymin's writing turned into a series was exciting already but once I got to watch and enjoy it (without worrying what my kiddos were going to see lol) I loved it even more. It was nice feeling like it was something new. The voice actors did a great job and the animation was clean and vibrant. Please give us a season 2!!

I have to say being as I read the books that this has come from I was unsure on what I would think. However after giving the show a chance, I am absolutely hooked! No it isn't exactly like the book and some things are different but that's like most adaptions of books.
Yes the food doesn't have the most amazing detail but jessas love for chocolate cake is there and I think it makes up for the graphics with everything else. The attention to details with games the characters play, when they shift into vampire, wolf shifter, dragon ect it is awesome.
Please do give it a try and wait until you have finished to review.
I myself certainly hope to see more of jaymin eves work on the screen aswell and that there shall be more chance to explore the rest of this story.

Sadly, this is a series that could target more than the crowd it appeals to but, the wokeness again ruins everything. No one introduces themselves with "my pronouns are he/she, him/her". That's just one one the annoying wokeness factors this show attempts to force. It actually ruins it.

I loved Jaymin Eve's Supernatural Prison seeing and Supernatural Academy series. I was so excited to watch this. I was glad to be able to share this experience with my daughter. She was really getting into it. Eventhough it doesn't fallow the exact storyline, I loved getting to see where the show was headed.

It is possible to make live-action and animated shows starring teenage characters that appeal to both teenagers and adults, so it irks me when they don't even try to put the extra effort in to do this :-( This show typifies this lack of effort with its juvenile dialog and storyline.

This was a great series. So long have I waited for the supernatural world to be brought to life on the screen to enjoy. This series definitely kept me wanting more and more!!! I couldn't stop watching and will be watching again for sure. I hope and pray there will be a season 2 because why well there just can't not be a season 2 ,3,4 lol. Should be more series brought to animation for us to enjoy but for now this one will hold me over it surely lived up to my expectations!!!!
Such Beautiful animation!! I Can't wait for a season two! The wolves and scenery were amazing! Way to go Jaymin eve and peacock! Absolutely loved it!!

I loved the books, but I know that adaptations can change a lot, so I went in with an open mind and honestly I loved it! I think the detail in the animation were great; reminded me of monster high, which I used to love. I really hope they continue this series, this is such a huge deal in the indie book community and we're all so proud of this!

I love the books this is based on. This adaptation is perfect for the YA crowd. I think the 14 age rating is appropriate. Definitely has dating and innuendos that the younger kids may not understand even though it's a cartoon. It seems to capture the modern day High school.dynamic with the characters talking about their pronouns and defending the underdogs. The friendships or pack is so supportive.
Great show. Perfect for the whole family and was amazing. I enjoyed every minute of the show and was happy to see the books come to life. I hope that they have a season 2 because I would love to see more of this world!!! It really needs to happen.

I am not a fan of animation in general, but of it is the only way to see my favorite book series come to life I'll take it!
There are certain aspects that I wish would have been more on track with the books, and honestly I would have been much more into the show if it was live action, but to get a chance to view another take on the series is great! Now fingers crossed for a season 2!

While it took me a minute to adjust to the changes from the books - once I accepted it as a stand alone story in itself - the differences weren't as important as the similarities. Binge watched it in 2 sittings. When is Season 2 good to go?
