- The judge in the Tobin case puts pressure on Patty to start producing results in recovering the funds from the Ponzi scheme or face being replaced. She seeks information from who an expert resource who has a particular quid pro quo in mind. Patty's solution involves the ambitious Alex Benjamin, who is ever more desperate to join the firm. For Tom Shayes, the impact of his own financial losses are heavy. The post-mortem on Danielle Marchetti reveals heart failure but Ellen has her doubts. The DA puts in charge of investigating Marchetti's death. Tobin finally meets the mysterious Mr. Zedeck, his father's partner who may have access to the hidden cash. In a flashforward 4 months into the future, the police have evidence that it could have been Tom Shayes driving the car that struck Patty's car in the intersection. - Tom and his wife meet with Patty's financial guy, Roger, to figure out where they go now that they've lost their savings to Tobin. His wife wants to sue Eric Nichols, their financial adviser who got them in with the Tobins. His daughter goes to school with theirs. But Roger warns them to stay away from him. Tom's wife isn't handling things well.
When she leaves, Roger reminds Tom that he's going to have to tell Patty.
4 Months Later Detective Noonan thinks over Patty's accident. His partner comes to say that Tom was still alive when Patty was hit. He could have hit her.

Tom and Patty meet with a judge who wants an update on their efforts to recover the money. He tells them people are losing confidence in her and want results. If she doesn't recover more funds soon, she'll be replaced.
Tom tells Patty that Danielle Marchetti's daughter has no father listed on her birth certificate.
Curtis Gates shares the autopsy results for Danielle with Ellen. It's a heart attack, but he's suspicious. He wants Ellen to look into Richard Renfro -- the guy that Patty set Joe Tobin up to assault.
Lenny gives Joe Tobin a gun. He thinks Zedeck had Danielle killed, and now he wants to meet Joe alone on a train to Brooklyn. All they know is Zedeck grew up with his dad. Patty meets with a convict (Wallace Shawn) in prison. She tried him and he has fond memories of the trial. She wants his expertise on how Louis might have hid money. He tells her she's not looking for a person, she's looking for a government. He wants a conjugal visit in return.
Patty finally meets with Alex Benjamin, telling her she has an unusual assignment for her and then maybe she'll hire her. "Have you ever been to prison?" Patty asks.
Joe nervously rides the subway alone, examining the people in the car to guess who might be Zedeck. They reach the last stop and everyone gets off but Joe.
Finally, an old guy and the guy Joe met earlier get on. Zedeck is friendly and familiar but Joe is angry and demands proof that Zedeck can produce the money. Zedeck will be in touch.
Tom goes to parent's day at his daughter's school. He sits behind Eric Nichols, who acts like everything's fine.
Alex visits Patty's jailhouse informant, Mr. Bittle. She unzips her boot.
Ellen and the DA guys meet with Renfro and Patty. They ask why he didn't press charges against Joe and he says he provoked him.
After the DA guys leave, Patty privately asks Ellen why she's wasting her time. She says they both know Louis had a heart attack. Ellen says she's doing her job and her boss is desperate to put someone away since Patty got Danielle to plead the fifth. Patty asks her opinion on Alex Benjamin. Ellen says she's smart and dedicated, just what Patty needs.
Tom talks to his daughter's class about his job. Eric Nichols types on his BlackBerry and ignores Tom as he talks about the need for rules.
Alex comes back to the office from her jailhouse errand, but Patty refuses to see her.
Joe gets a call from Zedeck's guy with a meeting location.
Back in the office, Ellen knows that Louis killed himself. They know Dr. Carl Brandt visited Louis the night he died.
Joe is directed to an apartment mailbox and given a key. There's a drycleaning slip inside from Zedeck's business.
Bittel meets with Patty again and thanks her for the girl, "just what I needed." He tells her about Antigua, a "financial candyland" before loopholes in international banking were closed.
Joe goes to the dry cleaners and is given a large box. "Don't forget to thank Mr. Zedeck," the woman behind the counter says.
At her place, Patty welcomes someone up. It's Julian Decker (Keith Carradine), the guy from the first episode who introduced himself to Patty as "sort of an architect." He tells her he's not used to seeking people out, usually they find him. Patty's jailhouse informant highly recommended him.
He talks to her about renovating her apartment to bring out original detail. He says it'd be a big mess and take awhile. She says it's not a good time and Julian says she knows where to find him.
Lenny and Joe look at the fur coat Zedeck sent them. If there's a message, they're missing it. Joe wants it sent back.
Tom meets late at night with his father in law. He tells Tom his wife is under going cancer treatment and they've lost important coverage. Tom asks how much he needs.
4 Months Later Ellen knocks on the door of the apartment where Tom is killed. She lets herself in and looks for him. He shows her a bag of money. Ellen asks if Patty knows about it. He tells her not to worry about Patty.
Quick cut to Patty's car getting hit.
Tom and Roger meet with Patty. The Caribbean banking would have required someone to make deposits in person. And only a citizen of the island can open an account there. Which means it's not any of the Tobins or anyone else they've been investigating.
Ellen talks to Dr. Brandt, Louis' doctor. They show him the autopsy results with high potassium levels. He says a heart attack is likely. He's cool until they tell him Danielle's autopsy results are the same. Then he says he told Louis about potassium but didn't provide it for him. He admits it's possible Danielle died from the same thing.
Alex Benjamin meets with Ellen and tells her she did something for Patty.
Flash to Alex in prison, unzipping her boot to reveal a tin of caviar.
Ellen tells Alex to forget about Patty.
Zedeck's guy tells him about Joe returning the mink. They know Joe doesn't trust him, so Zedeck decides he doesn't trust Joe.
At Tom's daughter's school, Eric Nichols sits down beside Tom and tells him he just flew in from golfing in Tucson for the day after taking his private plane. Tom seethes. Eric steps out to take a call and Tom follows him to a stairwell.
Tom confronts him, and Eric says Tom told him to be aggressive, he should just sell some assets and start over. "You're a rich little bitch and you had too much fun at the party, now you've got a hangover. Grow up, it happens," Eric says. Tom decks him. He hits back but Tom gets ahold of him and gets in a lot of shots.
Ellen gets a call from Alex, telling her Patty just hired her. Ellen doesn't look thrilled.
Joe returns to his hotel room to find Zedeck and his guy there. Zedeck scolds him for not accepting the sable for his mother. Then they leave, directing Joe to a briefcase of money in the dresser.
Tom calls Patty, with a split lip. He's at Farmingdale Airport. His "talk" with Eric gave him an idea. He thinks he knows who the Tobins used -- Danielle Marchetti's daughter. She's a flight attendant for a private airline.
4 Months Later Noonan and his partner check out Tom's car. They check the trunk -- and find Tom's bag of money. "I like where this case is heading," Noonan says.
Tom comes back to the office, bloodied and disheveled. He tells Roger he's not selling anything. He made up his mind. "I'm going to get our money back."
