Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What’s the most memorable death — scripted please! — you’ve seen on TV? It could be disturbing, crazy, heartbreaking, etc. Old and current shows fair game.
Tim Surette (@timsurette), TV.com
I can’t seem to scrape the death of Charlie in the Season 3 finale of “Lost” from my mind — I can remember every part of that scene so many years later. There was something about the way the scene was written and shot that was just perfect, and even though it was the perfect time to say goodbye to the character, it was still hard to let him go. Charlie died a hero, dudes. Driveshaft forever!

Matt Damon has stayed far from the comic book movie genre, but he had his first brush with superheroics after he crashed an interview with the God of Thunder himself. Chris Hemsworth was promoting the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and naturally, Damon had to hop in on an interview with his favorite talk show host. Or rather, his […]

French actor-turned-director Jalil Lespert (whose filmography behind the camera includes the unreleased in the U.S pair of 24 Measures and Headwinds) has nabbed a deal with The Weinstein Company for his bio-pic take on the rise of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent. This will be the second time in just as many years that the Weinsteins grabbed a French film bio portrait that was simultaneously re-made in another shape or form – last year they had one of the two competing The War of the Buttons (“La Guerre des Boutons”) adaptations which had a unique duel showdown in France. We think we could Lespert’s Ysl portrait around the Vogue September issue month.

"I'm a proud girlfriend; Liam's amazing in this," gushed Miley. "I think the characters... they all have so much depth. It's not a typical love triangle story and it's also really sad. I think the minute you start watching the movie you feel exactly where you are at that time.

Film: 'Lol'; Cast: Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore, Ashley Greene and Douglas Booth; Director: Lisa Azuelos; Rating: *** 1/2
The battle between the generations has always made for enticing cinema. Yet nowhere in history has the generation gap between the young and the little older been more apparent than in our technologically advanced world where there are so many websites to 'connect' us all yet so less 'human' connection.
'Lol' navigates in the no man's land between the two generations and though there's really nothing new, its light, breezy manner and gentle humour that thankfully works to push the drama forward than trying to force you to laugh and works to make a pleasant and fulfilling film.

It seems that the Disney girls have each other's backs. Miley Cyrus will no longer be able to voice a part in Adam Sandler's animated vampire flick, "Hotel Transylvania," and it seems that Selena Gomez has stepped up to the plate to fill in for her.
A rep for Sandler told E! News that the actress will play the part of Mavis, the vampire daughter of Dracula (Sandler). Dracula, who runs a resort of all the creepy folks in the world, gets worried when his teen daughter falls for a boy. E! reports that "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg, singer and "The Voice" judge Cee Lo Green and Sandler's pal Kevin James also have sunk their teeth into roles in the film, expected to drop in September.

Demi Moore has been discharged from Sherman Oaks Hospital, E! News confirms. The actress entered the Los Angeles area hospital on Monday, but it remains unclear exactly when she left the facility.
The site further reports that her discharge is timed perfectly with Ashton Kutcher's return to the States. He had been in Brazil shooting a campaign for Colcci along with supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio. His return to the U.S. on Thursday (January 26) had been previously scheduled and was not prompted by Moore's hospitalization. Demi Moore made headlines on Tuesday when she was hospitalized for "exhaustion." The news of the health scare may not have been too surprising to celebrity watchers who have been closely keeping an eye on the actress in the wake of her split from Ashton Kutcher.
In 2011, Moore's personal life became heavily scrutinized when "Two and a Half Men" star Kutcher faced allegations that he was cheating on Moore. The actress has been lying low of late — she appeared in several smaller films in the past year, including "Margin Call" and "Another Happy Day."
Last fall, shortly before she announced her split from Kutcher, Moore had many fans worried about her health after she appeared thinner than usual at several red-carpet appearances to promote "Margin Call." But she...

Much like a plot right out of her soapy CW show, "90210," AnnaLynne McCord made headlines when she inadvertently tweeted out a Nsfw photo of herself on January 10. It quickly became clear that she took the photo at the wrong angle, exposing a bit more of herself than she had expected to.
After realizing her Twitter faux pas, she laughed off the incident. "This is for you, @meganraee You Rock! Xxx," she initially tweeted, including the nipple-baring photo. She later added, "Hahaha! Megan, you feel like sharing? Very funny I actually Lol-ed xxxA."
When MTV News had the chance to speak to McCord during her trip to the Sundance Film Festival, she had a very amusing response to the tweet.

Miley Cyrus grapples with "growing-up issues" in the upcoming drama "Lol", based on the 2008 French film of the same name written and directed by Lisa Azuelos (who returns behind the camera here). Why it was necessary to remake a film that's essentially about a mother and her teenage daughter coming into conflict as the latter begins to rebel is beyond me, but nevertheless here it is, and the first trailer for the film has hit the web. Played by Sophie Marceau in the original movie, the role of the mother has been taken over by Demi Moore in the remake,...

Miley Cyrus is one troubled teen in a first trailer for her new movie "Lol". Playing a high schooler, the former "Hannah Montana" star is seen always giving her mother, played by Demi Moore, a hard time by causing troubles. She gets bad grades, blatantly asks a boy to sleep with her, and runs off to Paris to be with the boy she claims as the love of her life. Even being grounded can't stop her from breaking the rules.
"Lol" follows a story of a teenage girl named Lola. In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes and Facebook, Lola and her best buddies navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their domineering and confused parents. One day, when her mother accidentally reads her diary, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown.

French writer-director Lisa Azuelos is set to make her American movie debut this year with Lol--as in laughing out loud.a remake of her 2008 coming-of-age comedy that starred moody ingénue Christa Theret as Lola.or Lol to her friends (get it?)--a teen girl attempting to maneuver through the minefield of absorbing crushes, peer pressure, and parental intervention. While the trailer to the original film's trailer revealed sex, drug use and some slightly unnerving mother-daughter bonding, the new trailer for the U.S. Lol focuses on candy, texting, and condoms--oh my! Simply put, it looks like smoking salvia could lead to signing on to terrible scripts. Check out the trailer below: With dialogue like "You didn.t call or text me" and "it's so good to love someone so much it hurts," it's hard to expect this flick to appeal to anyone outside the tween/teen demographic. In addition to Miley, this co-stars Douglas Booth, Ashley Greene and Demi Moore. Have fun! As MTV's Artist of the Year, Katy found success by unapologetically being herself. Riding high off the success of 2010's Teenage Dream, Perry didn't rest on her laurels. Instead, she set the bar even higher by hitting the road on the California Dreams Tour, where night after night, decked out in candy-colored clothes, she belted out her greatest hits and...

Riding high off the success of 2010's Teenage Dream, Perry didn't rest on her laurels. Instead, she set the bar even higher by hitting the road on the California Dreams Tour, where night after night, decked out in candy-colored clothes, she belted out her greatest hits and...

The official synopsis reads, "What would you do if you found your own picture on a missing persons website? Teen Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finds himself facing this very dilemma."
"Setting out to uncover his real identity, Nathan quickly learns his parents are far from who they say they are. When the police, government agents and shadowy figures start to pursue him, Nathan's quest for the truth erupts into a full-blown 'Bourne'-like man-on-the-run thriller." Miley Cyrus's continued efforts at world domination rage on despite the end of Hannah Montana, and now Lionsgate is getting in on a few of those Cyrus family dollars. According to Deadline the studio has picked up the rights to the comedy Lol, which was produced independently by Mandate Pictures. The film is a remake of the 2008 French film Laughing Out Loud from the same director, Lisa Azuelos, who also adapted her own screenplay. Cyrus plays a high school girl dumped by her boyfriend for being too sexually inexperienced, with Twilight's Ashley Greene playing her rival, Demi Moore as Cyrus's mom, Marlo Thomas as her grandmother, and Thomas Jane as a new love interest for Moore's character. There's a whole network of friends for both the high schoolers and the grown-ups that you can read about in our earlier article here.

Hollywoodnews.com: So one of the Ls in “Lol” stands for Lionsgate?
It does now that the studio has acquired the rights to the Miley Cyrus comedy, an Americanized remake of the 2008 French film of the same name. Writer-director Lisa Azuelos returns to the helm to run Cyrus and co-stars Ashley Greene, Thomas Jane, Gina Gershon and Demi Moore through a coming-of-age story set in our digitized world.
The Hollywood Reporter states that “Lol” was produced by Mandate Pictures, which Lionsgate owns. The company also produced “Juno” and “Whip It,” which makes us wonder if Azuelos’ material is close in tone to those two pictures.
“Lol” doesn’t have a 2011 release date yet.

Lionsgate Films are seriously padding their 2011 slate, adding the recently completed Mandate Pictures' Lol to their sched. Helmer Lisa Azuelos' "Lol," is a remake of her 2008 French comedy, "Laughing Out Loud." Gist: It's up in the air as to how much this will resemble the original, the coming-of-age tale takes place in a world connected by YouTube, iTunes and Facebook. Lola (Cyrus) and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. When Lola's mom, Anne (Moore), "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown. Worth Noting: Christa Theret and Sophie Marceau played the daughter and mother team in the original. French box office in France was 3.5 Euros on 430 screens. Do We Care?: Call it a general lack of enthusiasm for filmmakers who sign up for American remakes of their original film,...

What happens when you put Ashley Green, Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore together on the screen? Well, you get "Lol". Yes, that's actually a title and Lionsgate must've liked the Mandate Pictures film so much that they scooped up the domestic distribution rights. No word on when they plan on releasing the comedy. The film is based off the 2008 French film "Laughing Out Loud" that Lisa Azuelos wrote and directed. She's pressing the "do-over" button on it with an Americanized version in which Cyrus' character and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. When her mom (Moore) "accidentally" reads her daughter's racy journal, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown. The rest of the cast includes Gina Gershon, Nora Dunn, Thomas Jane, Fisher Stevens and Marlo Thomas."Lol" in itself is a bit of a rarity,...

Miley Cyrus has wrapped up the filming of "Lol: Laughing Out Loud" in Paris, France with a party. The leading lady of Disney's "Hannah Montana" was snapped on Tuesday, September 7 taking a hide under the umbrella as she made her way to a waiting car when leaving the private party.
Spotted joining the 17-year-old songstress on the occasion was her on-screen love interest Douglas Booth. While she seemed to have fun dancing with co-star Ashley Greene at Parisian hotspot VIP Room on Sunday night, September 5, the "Twilight Saga" beauty was not spotted joining the festivity this time around.

It's been awhile since I last had a Miley Cyrus edition of Daily TwitPic for you. The pop star made the (probably wise) decision to sign herself off of the microblogging service for good, thus ending a regular flow of updates from the world of Hannah Montana's real-life counterpart.
Lucky for you fans, Cyrus is shooting a movie right now with someone who does use Twitter pretty regularly. She joins Demi Moore in the upcoming remake of the 2008 French film "Lol: Laughing Out Loud." In today's TwitPic, Cyrus and Moore smile for a photo op during what appears to be a night off with "Lol" writer/director Lisa Azuelos and her daughter. The movie is supposed to hit theaters sometime next year.
Remember to check out Brian Warmoth's Twitter-Wood column every day for an early jump on your Daily TwitPic.

Teen queen Miley Cyrus, who has made a fortune with her Disney show Hannah Montana and countless tie-ins, including a 3D movie of a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert tour, is going to show us she's not just another pop star from the Mouse House. After her turn in the soggy Nicholas Sparks movie The Last Song, she's since gone on to release a "racy" music video for her single "Can't Be Tamed," which features a woman with a bird cage on her head as a hat and Cyrus as a winged sexpot being held in a cage who breaks out and wreaks havoc in a museum.
Her next stop on the "Screw You, I'm a Grown-Up!" tour is the movie Lol (Laughing Out Loud), which is based on a French movie of the same name. Both movies were directed by Lisa Azuelos, who wrote the screenplay for the French...
