A high school student named, Light Turner, discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages and launches a secret crusade to rid the world of criminals.
Adam Wingard read the "Death Note" manga comic to find a way to translate the story to an American environment: "Death Note is such a Japanese thing. It became about what do these themes mean to modern day America, and how does that affect how we tell the story... ...
The name and the face is all you have to have.
When "L" is chasing Light Turner through the diner, he jumps up and runs along the counter. One can clearly see "L" slips and is about to fall on his butt; however, it switches to a different camera angle and he has not fallen but is still running.
The closing credits are written in the same style as the Death Note instructions.
