In order to stoke excitement for the upcoming season of “Black Mirror,” individual episode trailers have been released, giving sneak peeks of the standalone stories making up this season. Netflix released one of the most striking ones on Dec. 3 with “Metalhead,” written by series creator Charlie Brooker and directed by David Slade. Best known for helming “Hard Candy,” “30 Days of Night,” and key episodes of shows such as “Hannibal” and “American Gods,” Slade brings a black and white chapter to “Black Mirror.” Starring Maxine Peake (“The Theory Of Everything”), Jake Davies (“The Missing”), and Clint Dyer (“Hope Springs”), details on the episode are slim so far, save the video’s haunting description: “Beware of Dogs.” But judging by the intense footage, it appears to be one of the more horror-heavy installments of the series.

For fans of the TV drama Cold Case, here’s some news to keep you entertained; Variety reports that Kathryn Morris, who plays Lilly Rush on the show, is set to lead the indie rom-com Confections of a Discarded Woman, with Motion Picture Corp. of America producing.
Michael Damian will be helming the project, from a script he co-wrote with Janeen Damian. Morris will be playing “a pampered Manhattan housewife who has it all until her husband unexpectedly dumps her for his acupuncturist. Faced with an airtight pre-nup” she is forced to take “a job making cupcakes at her father’s bakery in Hackensack, where she discovers that true love can be even sweeter on the other side of the Hudson.”
Now it may not be my type of movie, but this could be a good way for Morris to make a stamp on the big screen. She had a part in Minority Report,...

I had no reason to watch Hope Springs save for one thing: Alex Kingston. The actress, who you probably know from her role as River Song on Doctor Who, stars in the series. Hope Springs originally aired on BBC One last summer, and was released on DVD June 1. Having just received a review copy from Acorn Media, I have to say that the series surpassed my expectations.
The show aired for a little more than a month; it's eight-episode first series was also its last. The BBC cancelled the show because it "did not find its audience in the way that [they] had hoped."
And honestly, that's to surprise. The show is done in such a way that I'm still unsure who it's intended to appeal to. The septuagenarian Annette Crosbie (who also appeared in the fifth series of Doctor Who) seems to be a sort of Betty White character, while...

The actress, who played Hannah Temple on the Sunday night show, confirmed that she is unsure whether it will return to BBC One next year after it failed to set the ratings alight. Hope Springs launched with an impressive 6.01m viewers in early June, but the programme's audience had dropped to 3.78m by the end of its eight-episode run. Speaking to the Daily (more)...

With only three more Doctor Who specials featuring David Tennant, attention is now turning to the next series featuring Matt Smith.
We had the first sighting of Smith on set with his new companion Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan.
Smith has already been branded a fashion failure for his tweed jacket, bow tie and rolled-up trousers although - unsurprisingly - the tweed industry was full of praise for his new look.
And now there is a flood of pictures showing Smith, Gillan and a face we've seen before - Alex Kingston.
Kingston played archaeologist River Song in the two-part story Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead, in which she revealed she knew the Doctor from his future/her past.
She said they had met several times before, implied an intimate relationship and revealed she knew his real name.
She also had a sonic screwdriver, which she said he had given to her.

Annette Crosbie has claimed that standards are falling in the TV industry due to an obsession with ratings. The veteran actress admitted that she is not totally satisfied with the quality of her new comedy-drama series Hope Springs, produced by BBC Scotland and currently airing on Sunday nights. Many of the programme's interior scenes were filmed in a disused whisky warehouse, leading to frequent interruptions during poor weather conditions due to its leaky roof and draughty rooms. Speaking to The Scotsman, Crosbie admitted: "It's not the same animal that I used to know 30 years ago. It's (more)...
