  • The idea behind the short film THE CLEANER is interesting. After all, how many films have really shown how debilitating it is to be so obsessive-compulsive that you lose out on life because you are so afraid of germs and filth? The problem is so bad that her marriage suffers and eventually she finds out her husband has another woman. So far, the film had me hooked. However, what happened next undid all the good will I had towards the movie. Instead of just being an interesting topic, the film degenerated into what looked almost like a snuff film! So, one minute it's a psychological drama, the next it's a gross movie that would probably appeal most to people who like Freddy Kruger movies!! Talk about confusing and talk about losing most of the good will you created in the first half of the film. Now perhaps the film makers STILL could have made a good film even with what happened next, but to be so graphic and unpleasant?! I felt betrayed. Next time, don't mix your genres and understand that being that graphic won't sit well with people unless they are looking for a bloody horror flick.
  • I am quite familiar with THE CLEANER and don't see the problem with "mixing genres". Happens all the time...horror/comedy, for example. Especially in horror. We need a release from the tension...

While this film doesn't cross the "comedy" line, it certainly has its dark humor. And as far as the "snuff" comments, take a look at the headlines today. We are very cruel to other humans and much worse goes on in the real world. Humans are really some messed up creatures.

Take another look at THE CLEANER after you've let all this settle. I think you'll see social comment more than a potential "snuff" film.

I'm not clear what you were expecting to see, actually. Regardless, I do support your right to a different opinion.

    Thanks.
