David Bohrman, a longtime producer and news executive who was responsible for innovations in live and special events and breaking news, died on Sunday. He was CNN.
“He was the creator of more news programming than almost any other producer working in television news today,” CNN’s leadership team wrote in a memo to employees on Sunday evening.
“Wherever he went, David was an innovator using the latest technology to enhance storytelling,” they wrote. “He was a mentor to many.”
No cause of death was given.
During his years at CNN, Bohrman embraced new approaches to live events coverage, including the Magic Wall, while he was the driving force behind shows like The Situation Room and State of the Union. As senior vice president and Washington bureau chief at CNN, he also launched NewsNight with Aaron Brown and The Moneyline NewsHour. He also produced more than a dozen presidential debates for the network.

Anchor Candy Crowley had asked the Texas Governor about the incident and what his response would've been had he been president. "Well, obviously, 18, 19-year-old kids make stupid mistakes all too often, and that's what's occurred here," Perry explained.

On Sunday's State Of The Union, CNN's Candy Crowley interviewed Vice President Joe Biden and pressed him on his comments that tied failing to pass Obama's jobs bill to an increase in rape and murder. "Is it your intention to say, when you give these speeches that if Republicans don't pass the president's jobs bill, they will be responsible for increases in rape and murder?" Crowley questioned, alluding to Human Events reporter Jason Mattera's heated exchange with the Vice President. Biden disputed that he was playing politics.
