From the onset it was clear this was low budget but managed to get me inboard with some slightly interesting developments and swaggy soundtrack.

Then it hit the final act and went completely sideways and completely nonsensical.

Men who were not long ago shooting drugs (which was a tad illogical) to stop them getting into the community are suddenly murdering police and security guards.

I am still in disbelief to the hard turn it took.
  • Bruce Willis is barely in this movie and not a consequential part. Actors are fine pretty much all around, as is the production, but the story lacks imagination and it ends up being a pretty average action movie. Not recommended unless there's really nothing else available.
  • This below average action movie with a big name cast was further hindered with an annoying soundtrack. The music played over most of the conversation which made it difficult to follow. Why did they do that? It didn't add atmosphere. In fact, most of the time the music didn't match the scenes.

Bruce Willis, yet again gave a weak performance. Such a shame as he used to have some style. I'm also surprised that Frank Grillo agreed to participate in this run of the mill action flop.

I thought Brooke Butler made it slightly more palatable but all in all the whole experience was a disappointment for me.

    Why?
Film had potential with good actors, but alot of bad graphics, music not matching or to high volume, script badly done, just not talking normal and characters making stupid decisions.

The story is so dumb it might only make sense in another dimension!

The end is such a ridiculous twist it makes no sense to anyone with an IQ above 5. I would rate this movie a big fat ZERO but I like Grillo & Messner and Bruce too. I have seriously written better stories in primary than this!

How high were the writers when they put this together and what were the producers on when they read the script! There is no way this movie will ever make a dollar of profit !!
  • I really wanted to give this a shot... but couldn't make it.

After a way too long introductory scene in which a bunch of idiots and a bunch of innocent civilians get killed for no apparent reason, you flash forward 18 months (why?) to the main and extremely boring story, enacted by people picked off the street, apparently, because these are no professional actors for sure. This kind of movie gets produced because the producers get enough money to put 2 or 3 notorious faces on the billboard. And those notorious faces can't even cut it anymore.

    Complete waste of time.

    Awful
Atrocious Scripting & Plot did someone actually write this, there is no plot

Atrocious Filming Nothing is framed correctly and the camera man is obviously drunk or stoned.

Atrocious Acting Sitting here wondering what the hell this movie is really supposed to be about, its awful.

Atrocious Sound Track Parts are just like a rap music video, no place in a movie The rest of the music just drowns out the awful dialog.

The Gun shots don't match the pictures.

Atrocious Sfx The blood splatters are just laughable

    Not worth bothering 👎
  • Dull. Bland. Boring. We're fools for continuing to watch these movies, thinking the next one will be better. Bruce is laughing at us. In the time it took to write this, he just completed another one.
  • Kevin Dillion has his wife kidnapped by a top drug dealer and gives him 12 hours to get him 2 million dollars for her ransom. The only thing I can give credit for is that this time Bruce is involved in a action scene and its not a double. Oddly impressive for his newer career where he does not care. The rest of the film is just dull with. Its a film that I didn't even care on what was happening. Its just a very generic action film with zero excitement.
  • One of Bruce Willis LAST movies he will EVER make, because Bruce is retiring due to bad health, suffering from a neurological disease which affects his speech and facial expressions. Really tragic!

I have watched EVERY movie Bruce Willis is starring in. I keep hoping, I really do, that some director, some producer, has got the wisdom to recognize what a great actor Bruce Willis is and make a better picture than this one.

BUT... unfortunately Bruce Willis is (by contractual obligations) restricted to only work with these inferior directors and producers, who dont give him the room to show his real talents.

You already guessed it, this is another flop in which Bruce is only starring in, due to contractual obligations. The man has got to pay the bills for his many ex-wives! I can understand that!

Not any good? NO. Sorry, I must be honest about this. There are several less terrible movies that he starred in recently. And mind you, Bruce has been starring in 5-10 movies A YEAR. That's mindboggling to think of. You might now better understand why this aint gonna be a quality action movie.

At an (excrucially) important sidenote, let us not forget WHY we are watching Bruce Willis movies to begin with. We watch Bruce Willis movies because of DIE HARD (1988). THE ONE AND ONLY BIGGEST ACTION AMERICAN ACTION CLASSIC OF THE CENTURY.

This classic is still standing strong after more than 30 years. Millions of people still REwatch it during every Christmas holiday. Recently a petition was launched to rename Nakatomi Plaza into DIE HARD plaza.

A life time achievement award for Bruce Willis is in the making as well, so I have heard...

DIE HARD (1988) NEVER DIES but is still ALIVE AND KICKING in 2022. Let's celebrate that.
  • A Day to Die is a heist action film. The movie starts, pulls you in and holds you. It's not heat, but features a top action scenes and the characters are more fleshed out than usual for the genre, with Leon being so cool and believable at Pettis. Superbly directed for a small budget movie. Give Wes Miller they money, I'm watching. The ending was surprising. No spoilers.

I just caught this on Netflix.

Knowing what we know now about Bruce Willis... the scathing reviews seem particularly heartless.

Honestly I don't get it. By the time this movie was released... I think the rumors had already begun about his health. So I honestly I don't understand the perspective of these reviews.

It's like criticizing a person with a leg injury for his inability to run.

This movie is a quick time passer. The action is fun , the plot is simple.

The use of editing techniques to accomodate Mr Willis declining health is obvious. Even so; the stiffness of his movements was sad to see.

But I respect him greatly for doing this even with his declining health.

The title as well as the plot are both cheaky call-backs to Bruce Willis' series "Die Hard"

All in all. If you have a heart and compassion to understand that Bruce Willis was already of ill health when he made this movie; you will appreciate this last effort.

The other actors fulfilled their roles excellently.
  • I've seen a couple of Bruce Willis' more recent terrible films, but as I was looking for a popcorn flick while I worked, and this was a rare Willis film with a rating above 4 (at the time of writing), I figured I'd give this a go.

Unfortunately, it's further proof that you shouldn't go on IMDb ratings as this film is poorly written, poorly acted, has terrible CGI (at times blood looks more like cola), some beyond cringeworthy dialogue and too many hollow characters that add nothing to the story. It doesn't even work as purely half-baked entertainment.

A film doesn't have to be realistic or believable, but when you combine those with poor acting, laughable dialogue, unconvincing characters and a jumbled mess of a story, it's never going to end well.

Bruce Willis doesn't even have that much of a role, and only a few lines of dialogue, so even his die hard fans (no pun intended) won't have much to enjoy.

I'm not sure why Frank Grillo is going down the same road as Bruce Willis recently; He might not be Oscar-level, but he's a decent enough actor that he can do better than this garbage. He's the one person that seems to act well in this shocker, although that's not much of an accomplishment.

I can enjoy even the worst of films when I'm looking for a popcorn flick that doesn't require any brain power, but I cannot recommend watching this even if you're working for the Razzies.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I have rarely seen such a poorly written and directed film. Everything about it is dreadful and to add insult to injury, three decent actors are seen trashing their reputations.

Bruce Willis phones in his now predictable performance.

Plot non -sequiturs, unsuitable soundtrack, dodgy dubbing and editing too make this a smorgasbord of rubbish.

The female lead is soo genuinely awful that you end up hoping that the main protagonist can't raise the money for her ransom.

It also adds a fair dose of black gangster and crooked white cop tropes into the mix.

Not even in the'so bad it's just funny category.'

    Avoid at all costs!
  • Did someone announce the worst movie prize? Cause this movie feels like it was gunning for that title from the beggining. LOL - this is kinda hilarious.
  • There is no amount of bad acting, washed-up has-beens, pointless car chases, and poorly-choreographed shoot-outs that can save this story.

I don't know what crimes Bruce Willis has committed that force him to make these awful films, but can't he just pick up trash along the highway in an orange jumpsuit like other deadbeats?

If I were a Hollywood producer looking to hire writers, my first question to them would be how many books they have read in the last year. If that number is less than twenty or fifty, I'd excuse them and go on to the next candidates. The knuckleheads who wrote this trash probably do nothing more than watch movies and crappy TV every day so that everything they write sounds like everything you've already heard before.

Leave out Bruce Willis and give the money you save to a decent writer.
  • Warning: Spoilers
It's pretty bad; the cine is awkward, the acting is isolated and wooden at best, the effects are shotty, scale of 1-10 about a 2 for prod val. Shame because the last couple of Grillo films have been pretty decent, I think. Willis films on the other hand, another poor choice, IMO. I gave it a 2 only because I was cautiously optimistic it might be a halfway okay Grillo film, but... it was not. Did not make it 30m in and it Died.
  • Seems the group behind these atrocities pay Mr Willis a very large percentage of the budget, explaining why the movies are cheap looking and rushed. I used to watch a movie with Bruce as it would suggest a good quality production, now his movies make Asylum look like Oscar nominees. Even Nicholas Cage occasionally does a good movie, Bruce never.
  • Warning: Spoilers
No story, no point, overly dramatic, pointless soundtrack, awful CGI from some schoolboy: if they can't even render chopper falling down the sky better than on TikTok/YouTube/Facebook video, then what else is there to say.
  • Another weak, phoned-in performance by Willis. Even Grillo and Dillon could not make up for such poor plot and awful writing. Was I the only one who kept wondering why Brooke Butler's character did not keep her mouth shut? LOL Just poorly done on so many levels, it would take too long to mention them all. If you cannot find ANYthing else to watch, this will pass the time. I think Willis must have made one movie each month in 2021 and now surpasses Seagal. I think Seagal at least puts more effort into his direct to DVD performances. Maybe Willis needs the money to pay off some tax issues, because he used to have some style. Now it's just sad.
  • I went in with low expectations based on everything else bruce has done, but in the first 10 minutes, i was like, uh. This is not the same. Wont put any spoilers but the trailer doesn't let us know what this is REALLY about. The acting is solid. Leon is other world. Frank Grillo is Intense. Kevin Dillon is an action star. Sold me. It's a good action flick and the best bruce i've seen in a long time.
  • In "A Day To Die" plays Bruce Willis the role of a city cop, who seems to be hiding some secrets under the façade of a caring man of the law. Kevin Dillon plays Connor, the main protagonist whose wife gets kidnapped, and he has to pay $2 million to a gang to get her back. The plot is thin but there are some nice action sequences. The CGI is one of the worst I have ever seen. Luckily there is Frank Grillo (Mason) starring as Connor's friends from the military, who also joins him on the heist. Another excellent acting performance from Leon, who plays Tyrone Pettis, the local gang leader. The beginning is really bad, botched action scenes, CGI and awful acting of Bruce Willis. The 2nd part of this movie is good, well executed action scenes and an always amazing Frank Grillo. However the performances of Bruce Willis are unexplainably bad throughout the whole movie. And to end this movie, there is really a nice plot twist. You like action movies and Frank Grillo, you have to see this one. A solid 6/10.
  • The camera work is so bad. Zoomed right in all the time, more flashing on thr screen than a 80s disco, constant changing of who is in the shot every few seconds I couldn't even concentrate.

I turned it off after 10 minutes so can't give you any spoilers except don't bother watching it.
  • Bad script. Lots of N-words. Bad plot. Way did I rate this movie even 3 stars? If they would have given me the script for a weekend I would have made a better movie out of it and that is not cause I'm talented.
