Celebrity Homes! Winona Ryder Spanish style Hollywood home sold? [Feb. 20] Actress Winona Ryder has sold her Sunset Strip-area home for $3.725 million, the Multiple Listing Service shows. As a Hollywood celebrity with her star on the rise, Winona Ryder was one of America's sweethearts at one time -- that is until she spiraled downward and got picked up on shoplifting charges. She's the Generation X version of a golden age Lindsay Lohan, with all the star power but none of the crazy nonsense, making her the Meh Hollywood starlet version. Born Winona Horowitz on October 29, 1971 in Winona, Minnesota (honest to gosh), the brunette actress is the god-daughter of Timothy Leary. [That explains a few things about why she was so great in the cult classic comedy hit Beetlejuice starting Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, and Michael Keaton.] According to the Sarasota Herald Tribune, "Actress Winona Ryder has sold her Sunset Strip-area home for $3,725,000. according to the Mls Listing Service. The 1936 Spanish-style house sits behind a thick hedge of ficus trees on 1/3 acre.of land. Bougainvillea and wisteria cover the...

Tom Hooper just won the DGA award for Best Director for "The King's Speech." And now, the movie has won the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards for Best Cast and Best Actor (Colin Firth). Natalie Portman won in the Best Actress category, while Christian Bale and Melissa Leo both won for their supporting roles in "The Fighter." When Bale went up to accept his award, he was surprised on stage by Dicky Eklund, the person he portrayed in the film. After hugging Eklund, Bale said: "Thank you for living the life, and thank you for letting me play you." On the television side, "Boardwalk Empire" won for Best Drama Series and Best Actor in a drama series (Steve Buscemi). Tonight the Screen Actors Guild held their annual awards program and if you were following my live blog you saw that it wasn't exactly an exciting show, but it does help those of us trying to go 100% on our Oscar predictions a little help with our forecasts.
Just to get it out of the way, The King's Speech has pretty much established itself as the undeniable front-runner if you weren't already on board after director Tom Hooper's Directors Guild win last night. Speech took home the expected Best Actor award for star Colin Firth and then took home the Best Ensemble award, besting the predicted winner The Fighter.
I've seen some writers already saying this was a predictable SAG Awards and for the most part they are correct, but I wouldn't say The King's Speech was ever the presumed front-runner for ensemble. But I also wasn't surprised to see it win.

Today the nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was released. The King’s Speech and The Fighter received the most nominations, with four each. Thankfully the Guild seems to know what they are doing unlike The Golden Globes who pretty much screwed up all the nominations.
The nominees here are usually a very strong indication of how the acting award nominees will play out at the Oscars. King’s Speech has long been an Oscar favourite, but David O. Russell’s The Fighter has gained considerable steam in the past few weeks. Last year, 19 out of 20 SAG nominees went to the Oscars as well so you can be sure that The Fighter and King’s Speech will get a best picture nomination. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be simulcast live on TNT and TBS on January 20th. See the complete list below.

Awards season is in full swing right now, which is pretty evident since for the past week we've been bombarded with movie nominations left and right. The 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards adds onto the bunch, throwing their hat into the ring of who's the cream of the crop acting-wise this year. Los Angeles may be gloomy-looking this morning, but the sun is certainly shining down on some actors who are nominated.Of course you have the typical nominees from films like "The Social Network," "The King's Speech" and "Black Swan," but there's also a couple of nice little surprises in the mix. Scroll down to see the full list of movie and television nominees and let us know whether you like the SAG list more than the Golden Globe one or not. This year's 17th Annual SAG Awards will be shown on January 30th, 2011 at 5 p.m. Pst on TNT and TBS.

As awards season trudges on towards the Academy Awards early next year, we're seeing a lot of repeat offenders getting love, while other films have been surprisingly ignored altogether.
That trend is partially continued with today's announcement of the SAG Awards nominations. As expected, films like "The King's Speech" and "The Fighter" are doing just fine, with both of those pictures earning four nominations a piece.
But there's a pleasant surprise for fans of the Coen Bros., too: "True Grit," the directing pair's soon-to-release Western epic, snagged two nods from the SAGs after getting shut out completely at the Golden Globes.
A full list of SAG Awards nominees is below, with most of the results playing out as expected: Natalie Portman and Annette Bening are once again going head-to-head in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for their work in "Black Swan" and "The Kids Are All Right,...

The Screen Acors Guild has released their award nominations for their upcoming 17th annual award ceremony, which will take place on January 30, 2011.
There are some great nominations here. My favorite picks include Christian Bale for his role in The Fighter, Natalie Portman in her role in Black Swan, and Jesse Eisenberg for his role in The Social Network. As much as I love most of these films, I'm surprised that Inception is no where to be seen. That was one of the best films of the year and it seems to be escaping a lot of the nominations in all the award ceremonies this year.

Okay, totally kidding about the Colfer Lifetime Achievement Award thing - that will be going to Ernest Borgnine. But does it seem to you that the kid who plays Kurt Hummel is getting an awful lot of awards season love? (And wouldn't McHale's Navy have been so much better with him in it?)
The latest outpouring of Colfer acclaim comes from the Screen Actors Guild who announced their 17th annual SAG nominees this morning.
The Glee cast is up for a comedy ensemble award, but Colfer was the only cast member other than Jane Lynch to be recognized individually. And given who he's up against he's almost certain to be the frontrunner!
Another bit of good news for a Glbt favorite, The Kids Are All Right, scored individual acting nods for Annete Bening, Mark Rufallo, and also a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast.

The complete list of nominations for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards follows below. The ceremony will be held on January 30th, 2011.
Nothing really to highlight here, unfortunately. SAG voters apparently didn’t care for Halle Berry’s performance as much as the Golden Globes did, because she’s not on this list. And neither is Idris Elba, who was also nominated for a Golden Globe. The cast of For Colored Girls got no love either.
The significance here is that SAG nominees and winners are voted on by members of the union – essentially, their peers.
But one thing that should be obvious by now is that the Oscar race is going to come down to 4 films and the performances in those films: The Social Network, Black Swan, The King’s Speech, and The Fighter. I still have to see the last 2.

This morning at 6 Am, Rosario Dawson and Angie Harmon announced the nominees for the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in five film and eight television categories. In the film category The Fighter and The King's Speech led the way, both earning four nominations with Black Swan and The Kids are All Right both earning three.
Looking over the list of nominees I can't say I'm surprised by too many of the choices outside of the love Black Swan is receiving from yet another Mila Kunis nomination for Supporting Actress and the film itself getting an ensemble nomination, a nomination I thought The Town would surely be getting. This moves Kunis much higher into the Supporting Actress conversation and will have me second guessing The Town as a Best Picture nominee, though Jeremy Renner's performance is assuredly a lock for a Supporting Actor nom.

Don't call it a comeback -- unless, you know, it turns out to be one. Winona Ryder has landed a coveted role opposite Vince Vaughn and Kevin James in Ron Howard's next movie.
The comedy, formerly called "Cheaters" but currently untitled, will star Ryder as James' wife. When his best friend (Vaughn) discovers that she's been sleeping with someone else, he confronts her and struggles with whether to break the news to James' character.
Ryder's casting was first reported by Deadline Hollywood. EW further reports that she beat out the likes of Uma Thurman and Kate Beckinsale for the role, which will be her first major-studio comedy in several years.
She co-starred in "Star Trek" and "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" last year and has a couple of projects due for release in the coming months: Darren Aronofsky's drama "Black Swan" the CBS/Hallmark Hall of Fame...
