When it comes to television shows, a lot tend to follow a successful formula. In the cutthroat world where shows have to survive year to year, it seems that “different” can be a risk not worth taking. However The Booth at the End is different and with the release of the show on DVD we get to see what a special series it was.
The Man (Xander Berkeley) sits in The Booth at the End with his book, waiting for people to visit him. When they inevitably turn up they make a deal, and the book comes up with a task for them to do. The question is, will they do the task and get what they want, or is the price too high for them?
The Booth at the End is made up of short episodes that are perfect in size. We don’t get to see the visitors do their tasks,...

Science fiction and fantasy have been a way to explore morality with one of the simplest and most dangerous questions man has ever invented, “What if?” Every story starts with someone asking “What if?” and following that train of thought to some kind of conclusion. It may be as simple as asking what if this character existed or as complex as what if we actually colonized Mars or any of millions of other questions that spring to mind.
If you hit upon the right what if scenario, you just might end up creating more than one story. The question itself doesn’t have to be all that sophisticated. What if you could get exactly what you wanted as long as you completed a particular task? That’s the entire premise of the show “The Booth at the End.”

The Michael Bay-produced live-action/CGI adaptation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has been moving forward very nicely in recent weeks.
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, the film found its first cast member last month in Megan Fox, who is of course reuniting with producer Bay after working together on the first two instalments in the original Transformers trilogy.
Then last week, we heard that the first of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, themselves, had been found, with Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) cast as Raphael.
Deadline are now reporting that Paramount have found their other three turtles, with Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher coming on board for the Summer 2014 blockbuster, playing Leonardo, Donatello, and Michaelangelo, respectively.
Ploszek is a graduate from the USC Masters program, with credits including Parks and Recreation and Shameless. Howard has a handful of Breaking Bad episodes to his name, and will...

Also on the drama side, “The Booth at the End” garnered some recognition with four nominations including one for Best Drama Series and one for Xander Berkeley for his performance as The Man, a mysterious character who sits in a diner and seems to grant wishes—for a price. The original Hulu series “Battleground” also got a pair of nods in the drama category, including Alison Haislip and Ben Samuel getting recognition for best female and male performances. Old chums Ron Meyer and Michael Eisner have forged a longterm deal between Universal Pictures and The Tornante Company. The studio will distribute Tornante's fully financed feature films worldwide. Ex-Disney chairman Eisner---who brought ex-caa chief and Meyer's old partner Mike Ovitz into Disney as his second-in-command, which did not last long-- founded in 2005 the privately held Tornante Company, which invests in, acquires, and operates companies in media and entertainment. He also founded indie studio Vuguru, which develops and finances content for digital and international platforms including Hulu's "The Booth at the End" and "Little Women Big Cars" on AOL. Vuguru has made many licensing and distribution deals with AOL and Yahoo!; FremantleMedia Enterprises recently pacted for international distribution of future Vuguru titles. So far Tornante has been acquiring and investing in companies more than individual projects.

Vuguru has ordered up a second season of the series The Booth at the End, premiering exclusively in the U.S. on Hulu and Hulu Plus, in Canada on Citytv.com and two additional Rogers Media offerings, and in various territories online and on TV this fall through Fox International Channels.
The psychological thriller created by writer Christopher Kubasik and directed by Adam Arkin (Justified, Sons of Anarchy) stars Xander Berkeley (Kick-Ass) as "The Man" who can give people what they want, for a price.
The mysterious man who sits in a booth at the end of the diner is back. He can grant you any wish you want, but always for a price. Some wander into the diner looking for redemption, others for love or a miracle cure. No matter the wish, if they want it to come true, they will have to complete whatever challenge the Man gives them.

At the start of the year, we learned of a new thriller entitled Crawlspace. Directed by Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D, Sorority Row), the film stars Steven Weber, Jonathan Silverman, Lori Loughlin, Nicole Moore and Sterling Beaumon. Stolberg directed from a script he co-penned with Nick Taravella.
The significant thing about the production was that the film was pushed through the production outfit known as Vuguru, a company that finances its own productions and distributes them across various VOD platforms (you may have seen their project The Booth at the End on Hulu).
A promo poster for Crawlspace - about a killer terrorizing a family in his foreclosed house - has been unveiled and you can find it after the jump. Stay tuned for a release date.

The programs range from comedy to sci-fi, travel to reality and magic to drama.
"I have always wanted to do a show that provides an open forum for real fans to discuss real movies in real time and that's what 'Spoilers' is about. One of the highlights of AOL’s Digital Content NewFront came after AOL CEO Tim Armstrong introduced a short clip highlighting some of the best major motion pictures and television programming of all time (like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Beverly Hills Cop, Cheers, Family Ties, and more), which in turn introduced one of the individuals instrumental in making all of those major motion picture and television programs come to fruition, Michael Eisner. The former-ceo of Disney and founder of new media studio Vuguru (which is behind such online video productions as Prom Queen, The All-For-Nots, Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, The Booth at the End, the soon-to-launch-on-aol Little Women Big Cars and Fetching, and more) gave the audience a very abridged version of his career in show business before giving the audience a very brief education in the current state of entertainment. Make no mistake my friends, 2011 will be remembered as the year sh*t got real in online video. This year the bastions of web video, no longer satisfied with "digital dollars," made some of their boldest grabs yet at television’s multi-billion dollar advertising business by emulating the look, feel and business of...television. Welcome to progress. Let's review: YouTube, the birthplace of the web series, the king-maker of online celebrity, the petrie dish of viral video, spent $100 million on re-positioning itself as the second coming of cable television with 100 new channels of advertiser-friendly, day-parted original programming. Netflix paid $100 million to exclusively distribute two seasons of the Kevin Spacey/David Fincher drama House of Cards; then dropped another tidy sum to revive and distribute new episodes of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy Arrested Development. Wanna bet Netflix leads a lobby with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to get streaming originals on the Emmy ballot?...
