Executive producer Al Jean asked graffiti artist Banksy to create the opening sequence after Jean saw Banksy's film Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010).
Animation Director and Akom founder, Nelson Shin wasn't happy about the title sequence, finding it "excessive and offending". He pushed for some of the darker jokes in the title sequence to be removed.
Banksy based the title sequence is on the show's long-running use of animation studios in Seoul, South Korea.
The episode's title is based upon the book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game" by Michael Lewis. The book is about the Oakland Athletics baseball team and the team's modernized, analytical, saber-metric approach to assembling a competitive baseball team as well as the film of the same name.
