Only thing i found annoying is that one guy you think is the main villain then another then another and it was really repetitive. However the gameplay , controls and everything else was pretty good.
  • After the disappointment that was Quantum Of Solace, I hoped that the next James Bond video game would surely improve on the mistakes that had made Quantum Of Solace a failure - I was not let down.

James Bond 007: Blood Stone is a game that will please all Bond fans and gamers alike. The game-play is very exciting and manages to satisfy those who enjoy a good thrill or two - or in this case 10 or so. The story sends 007 across the globe as he chases down leads regarding 'Bio-Weapons' ... or something. The plot isn't exactly made clear. Which is where Blood Stone seems weakest. You are dragged around to all these different locations and are at some points unsure why. You find yourselves in situation where you are asking "Wait, so why are we in Siberia?" "Why are these men trying to kill me?". This continues throughout the game until eventually it doesn't really matter anymore. The game levels are enjoyable enough without a purpose.

The game-play revolves around shootouts (Expected of a 3rd Person shooter ;). James Bond is either sneaking about a building, trying to escape or is chasing someone - All of which faces Bond against a series of enemies which he must dispatch by shooting them or using a take-down. The shooting is very straight forward and familiar but it's the take-down system where Blood Stone shines. When Bond is close to an enemy, the player can press a button to perform a special melee attack that dispatches an enemy in one go. It sounds pretty dull in theory but when you are playing, the take-down system is very ...how do you put it..AWESOME! I just love running up to an enemy and hitting 'square' (PS3) to beat the crap out of some goon. Performing a take-down earns the player one focus aim which can be used to shoot an enemy, killing them in one shot. A maximum of three focus aims can be obtained at a time.

Now onto the other game-play system of Blood Stone – the driving. These levels are chases. Bond must race after and enemy through an environment that is so chaotic, you can't even see! Explosions, debris and out of control cars block your line of sight and cause you to crash and get game over. Honestly, it seems as though sometimes the civilians in downtown Istanbul are trying to kill you. Cars come out of nowhere. On top of that, the person you are chasing often has help. White vans or oil tankers block your way and try to stop you from catching up - Most of the time they succeed. Game over again. Oh well, I'm sure a few more goes I should get it. Asides from the beautiful graphics of these chaotic driving sequences, this area needed improvement.

Overall Blood Stone is a good game. With some flaws such as the unclear plot and impossible driving missions, this is a worthy title to the James Bond games. A must have for all Bond fans. (Which I happen to be.) 8/10

    Warning: Spoilers
Well if you've read the reviews it's just not up to scratch or maybe the reviewers need a good scratch. After seeing the MGM logo at the start I felt a little skeptical; its a video game not a film.

As usual Bonds opening scene delivers nothing less than the usual: you go from jumping out of a plane landing onto a terrorists luxury boat stealthily taking everyone out only to find the baddie is getting away; an incredible speedboat chase ensues, upon making it to land (red cars explode navy blue ones don't der) a car chase ensues ending with a hint of wit and charm between M (Judi Dench) and 007 (Daniel Craig). This lush opening scene with 007 clichés a plenty gives a good slathering of what is to come. The Bond music clip I kind of wanted to go for a little longer which is more than I can say for the story. Visually this game is epic its spectacular but it's been rushed once again it's a movie that just didn't know how to fit itself into a video game. It feels as though the director and the game devs were in a tugger-war over this one (the credits go forever btw) and as a result the game play is seriously patchy, environment interactions are inconsistent and misguiding, level scenarios feel cut and paste, the story was... somewhere there I just know it, and Bond has been shoved into the bottom left hand corner wtf? But there is a reason for this. It took two sleek car chases and finally a hover craft to sink in as to what they were trying to achieve here, on the hovercraft it felt like I was in the movie they had it spot on; incredibly well thought out and realistic mission objectives, incredibly realistic environment!, Ai that was not only communicating fluently with body language and facial expression but also unpredictable when appearing from cover this whole scene was amazing I was there I wasn't sitting in a cinema watching another 007 I was bond and it shat all over 3D I was immersed. All threw they try to replicate this wonderful experience (the hovercraft) but only coming close in the car chases except the ice one; I am not a penguin. In fact they flop all over the place it's been rushed need I say more and as usual its one of those games that leaves you frustrated not only because you love the brand' but because the game actually had so much potential e.g. the brilliant smart-phone user interface the super-licious slick melee, the fab sprint, stealth and of course Focus Aim which unfortunately felt like the only thing they managed to finish/ polish in this game. Speaking of finishing where was the story?! I am not much of an FPS the only recent thing I have been playing is LFD2 which I guess is why I turned to Bond I wanted a gripping story to sate my emotional cravings and it was there it's just they couldn't mesh it together in time. It should have worked they had everything. What they could of done was cut back on level scenarios, expand and enhance the environments for better game play immersion especially in 007 mode and get me connected to the story; get M to call me every once in awhile (out of cut scenes) and find me some romance and a bit more depth to the characters, no allot more they just appear randomly and act like you're supposed to know them? Don't bother with multi-player for obvious reasons unless I can have a friend go co-op with me as a 00 agent of choice in story mode. All in all I felt this game was worth my money but at the end all I got was a "Bond will return" ... Well I'm excited for him but he dumped me, we had great times, brilliant times but the only thing that will get me to buy this game again will be sparkling reviews i.e. Bond cleaning up his act or I won't be looking back.

If you're a Bond fan buy it when the price drops otherwise don't bother.
  • When I saw the announcement of Blood Stone, I thought it was going to be like Quantum of Solace, fun but not worthy. Well I played the game and I was impressed.

The story is very well done, all you have to know it's like a movie plot and not a game plot (the cut scene's aren't short but are long, enjoyable and show the true Bond movie spirit).

The game play is very well done, simple but effective. You have incredible take down attacks, Slow Motion (Bond Vision) and a very well done cover system:

Takedown attacks - The Takedown attacks work perfectly, all you have to do is approach to your enemy, simply press "F" (PC) and Bond does the rest. The animations are very well done and it's so fun to do it that sometimes (in Easy difficulty of course) I get out of cover just to do a take down attack.

Bond Vision - The Bond Vision it's very easy to earn and to use. To earn it you have to do take down attacks, each take down attack gives you one focus point (you can store up to three focus points) and you spend them, by pressing "Left CTRL" (PC), then Bond will auto aim to the head of the enemy, then press button 0 of the mouse (PC) and fire.

Cover System - The cover system it's very well done and very easy to do. When you are near a wall press "Space" (PC) to cover, but the best thing of the Cover System is the ability to go cover to cover.

The driving it's really nothing special, all you have to do is accelerate and dodge the obstacles. The driving missions are the one of the things that I hate from the game, the amount of times that I loosed due to the exaggeration of the destruction making me sometimes unable to see anything, turns the driving levels annoying.

The graphics are really nothing special, they give me the impression that the game was made in 2007/08. The characters model don't seem real and the moods are very unreal (sometimes I can't tell if Bond is angry or is neutral).

The sound it's good but not impressive, the dialogs are good and the music gives a true feeling that we are playing a Bond game.

In general, comparing to Quantum of Solace, the game is very impressive, it has some flaws but gives the impression we are watching an interactive James Bond movie.

I recently purchased this game. I have played a few James Bond games including Quantum of Solace. This games has great action and is very well made. I recommend this game to any Jame Bond fan. The story for this should be consider for a Bond movie after all it does have the current actor in the role of James bond and other characters in the game being voiced by there human counter part. With another movie coming out I hope that one becomes a game and is as good as this game. I have not beaten this game yet but look forward to seeing how it ends. The thing I like best about this game is that its not a shooter game u are actually James Bond fighting the bad guys and driving the car.
  • Finally a game without being adapted from a movie first. I think its a pretty solid action game in a fantastic world of James Bond even if the story is pretty classic: we see all characters in the james bond movies and i enjoyed to finish the game and wanted to know how it will end. Enjoyed the fight scenes too. The "mise en scene"is pretty good too. I recommend it.
  • It took me a decade after this game came out to finally pick it up and give it a try and boy am I impressed and angry at myself for not getting it sooner. If I had to justify myself I would say its because I played Quantum of Solace and while it was cool for what it was, it was just a little too close Call of Duty for my liking so I thought Blood Stone would be the same causing me not to rush to play it but boy I couldnt have been more wrong.

A welcomed change is the return to 3rd person as it really compliments the chase sequences and takedowns and just he overall fast pace that a Daniel Craig Bond game needs. And although it is a faster paced game it still has some strong stealth elements that are not exclusive to this game. Take downs and silencers are your main tools to staying silent so if you've played any other Bond games you are familiar with the stealth in Blood Stone which im not gonna say its a bad thing because I'd rather that than shitty forced stealth sections that go on for half an hour with little or no checkpoints in between.

I would certainly rank Blood Stone among the creme of the crop in the Bond games simply for the way it captures the feeling of the Craig films and as I play this game I cant help but feel more and more excited for IO Interactive's upcoming Project 007 which I hope will breathe new life into the James Bond video game market with recent game technology and developers that we know actually care about the quality of the games we could be in for perhaps the best Bond game since Goldeneye or the biggest letdown since the Goldeneye remaster. Only time will tell.

You play through the whole single player campaign on the agent difficulty and not use one focus aim except nearer the end when you have to take out two or three men with laser sight sniper rifle's - using the focus aim feature is the only way of killing them then moving on. Focus aim slow's the action down to get a decent targeted hit.

The game is rather linear, meaning, it is a far cry from a sandbox game so you stay on a straight and narrow path. Think 'Gears Of War' or other less popular game's like Blood Stone such as 'Tomb Raider' and '50 Cent: Blood On The Sand'.

The cover art on the cover of the case look's a bit budget. But hey, it work's for me.

I also own Quantum Of Solace but the first time I played that game it was really doing some unusual thing's making me unable to continue playing.

Just go and buy it from your local EB or online. A bit of a cheap thrill, look at it that way.
  • This game is the bond game we've always wanted it's absolutely incredible i love the 3rd person aspect and this amazing original James bond story this would have totally worked as a movie it would've been great because you know spectre and skyfall and no time to die wasn't Based on any of the books they were made for screen with original stories so original James bond stories totally work all the time seriously if James bond hasn't have died in no time to die they should've made blood stone with Daniel Craig and joss stone in live action but playing this game is literally like watching James Bond feature it is simply the best we are still yet to see what the new James Bond game that was announced by IO Interactive has to offer I suppose it'll be a little like hitman since hitman is a secret agent but he has a target to assassinate so James bond is quite different but itll still be like hitman in a sense with the spy espionage but this game is meant to feature an original story possibly with a 3rd person POV and for the time being this will always be the best bond game we cant say the new one coming will be the best because we havent had any information from IO Interactive since that gunbarrel teaser id possibly say may releese next year or possibly 2025 maybe if this game turns out to be a pile of ass then blood stone is the best.
  • So... overall this bond game was pretty good. Though, there are some major flaws with this game.

Story was pretty good, seemed a little less complex than the movies, but I can't really complain about that since it had my full attention through the entire story. So overall story I'd say was an 8 or 9.

The major flaws that came from this game are really the mechanics that make it so annoying to play... and that might be because times moved forward, this is an older game. Reload sometimes just won't work, and don't get me started with the car segments... GOD. The car segments are in EVERY SINGLE LEVEL. Now most people would love to drive the Bond vehicle. But this is a little too much... a couple times throughout the story I would have been happy. The driving mechanics are awful... remember Watch Dogs? How bad the driving was in that game? Okay well double how awful the driving in Watch Dogs was and that's Blood Stones driving. Not to mention, with how much I hated the vehicular segments, had they of cut out all out, it wouldn't have made a difference, since there's lots of pieces missing when you go into a cut scene and the developers just expect you to put the little pieces together... so.. a couple seconds of a cut scene with the car would have been just as good. I dunno, I really hated the car segments though, which were by far the most frustrating part about this game. Especially where there's no hint or telling you when a trap is coming, the car gets totaled and you're forced to go back to a checkpoint... I dunno... I personally think this part of the game wasn't finished or ready to be in the game but they put it there for the big fans of the movies.

Aside from those things, I liked this game. I'm sure some would disagree but this is my opinions.

Play it for yourself! You'll still have fun either way!

This is another entry in the Bond game series that I think is very solid another favorite of mine in them, as well as one of the best for the Daniel Craig era, along with licensed video games in my book. This also sadly was the last or one of the last games for the Daniel Craig era, but I felt with this game it at least went out with a bang.

I really like the story which is unique and from the way it plays out this feel like it could of easily of been another Bond movie for the Daniel Craig era. But it plays out really well there is actual intrigue and twists and turns in the plotline in which there is one or two I honestly didn't see coming a mile away.

Good news about these twists and turns in the story are their aren't too many and they keep it consistent which makes the story easy to follow, unlike most serialized TV shows like a little of "Orphan Black" or "Once Upon a Time" (later seasons 6-7 for the record) which have this bad habit of over saturating itself with so many to the point you have no idea where the hell the story is going with itself or make any particular sense, which really can defeat my enjoyment or see the point in continuing to watch. The story in this game knows what it wants to be and where it wants to go, which is part of what a good story in a game should be. The voice acting is spot in you have Judi Dench as M and of course Daniel Craig as James Bond both being their usual selves.

Animation presentation is very solid, I thought really brought out the modern-day Bond look, from the far off locations, character animation, but my favorite the vehicle animation. Music is also really solid, there are a few memorable tracks, it's the usual orchastratic tune you would usually hear from the Bond films, though here it's a little more of the modern day; which is cool as the orcastratic tunes are part of the trademark of the franchise.

Action is solid, nothing too special as it's the kind you would see in most games like the "Uncharted" franchise, but all the same handles really well even like there's a little platform action in places. You have gun sights to be able to lock onto your enemies in places but also have this thing called a focus system, where if you hit the enemy in the right place you earn points in that system, where you can use those points to give yourself an upgrade. But also you have some defensive function when up close to enemies you can take them down or even stealth take down if you are able to sneak up and get in the right position.

The driving sequences are awesome as they run smoothy. These are different as their a little more similar to the arcade racing games much like "Out Run" and "Chase H.Q." and that's really cool as I personally like that style of game racing as it avoids all of the complicated bull crap that has caused some slowdown in most racing games. Two of my favorites are the boat chase and the train chase both are really cool as their not just a simple chase down the bad guy but also a race against time which you can't afford to lose in these chases.

Only, misfires for me about this game are a couple of the driving sequences one where you drive the classic Aston Martin and a Tow Truck are a little unsmooth in their handling, like I had a heck of a time with the drift function of the Aston Martin which I feel that car just wasn't built for. The unsmooth handling also made those driving sequences difficult a bit much, not to say their unbeatable but took a while longer than desired. Though I did get use to their handling, so driving both vehicles didn't bother me much nor too much trouble, but still this is trouble that could have easily of been tuned up.

The other misfire is this game never had a sequel, at the end of the game there was a small hint of a follow up. But sadly, due to the fact this game wasn't quite a huge hit as the movies were, this didn't happen which is a darn shame.

Only thing to do now is to wait for the next Bond game to come around hopefully it will be a good one and based either on the Daniel Crag era Bond, current era bond whoever the next person to play Bond is (hopefully someone good). Or could go with a different approach like a game with one of the past Bond's; have a Pierce Brosnan bond era game again with him doing the voice acting that is. I don't know when it comes to the Bond game just like the movie series it can go either way on itself, hopefully the right way.

This Bond game is rock solid.

Rating: 3 and a half stars
  • If this game was remastered with today's technology, this could be a perfect game. Loved the bond song created for this game. And the Aston Martin car and action sequences which if were with todays graphics i cant even imagine how could they would look like! I felt the activision theme and vibes about this game too, reminded me of some call of duty games, and thats cool. But sometimes this reminded me about hitman too, and i love that game as well!

What i didnt like was obviously the graphic and audio quality of this game. Subtitles were awful and with many mistakes, teribly timed /synchronized. Audio of voice acting quality was terible, sounds old and with noises on top of it. Loved the original actors' voice acting of course. If they used random voices for M and 007 i would give this one 1/10 at best.
  • This was a very fun video game and I wish it had not only one sequel but multiple sequels!! I loved the car chases, the takedowns/stealth/fight choreography, the story, and the general gameplay! So many different world locations and the bad guys/villains in the video game are well-constructed and intimidating. I guess some people might complain about the graphics and it may come across as outdated a little, but I really don't mind them! The fact that they got Daniel Craig to do the voice was impressive and very welcomed. I played this game a lot and had a fun time! Plus, the opening song is awesome as well!
