So happy and yet so sad at the same time. Syfy has just announced its spring schedule, and surprise! The final season of fan favorite Eureka will premiere not in the summer as it usually does, but on April 16. The sooner the better, we say, and we can’t wait.
According to the announcement there are some great shows coming our way, including the second season of Lost Girl, a Treasure Island miniseries, the premieres of Monster Man, Dream Machines, and Total Blackout, the return of Ghost Hunters, Hollywood Treasure, and Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files, and of course some Saturday Original Movies. Here are the details:

Last winter, Fox launched a new primetime game show called Million Dollar Money Drop. This spring, Fox cancelled the primetime game show called Million Dollar Money Drop.
At the start of each game, host Kevin Pollack gives a pair of contestants a million dollars in cash. It's theirs to keep as long as they can answer a series of trivia questions correctly. The trick is for them to put their cash on the right answer. Whatever money's put on an incorrect answer in any given round, will drop away and is gone for good.
The series kicked off on December 20th with a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.31 million viewers. The episode that followed did just a little better -- not a bad performance for a holiday week.

Update: At Twitter, Kevin Pollak replies: Really, I've enjoyed your insights/musings for quite a while, but your angle on my recent work/luck has me questioning yours. Kevin Pollak is a respected actor-comedian with memorable turns in such movies as The Usual Suspects, A Few God Men and Miami Rhapsody. But in just the past year he signed on to host not one but two TV game shows which then became mired in controversy. The most recent is Fox's Million Dollar Money Drop which aired during the most recent Christmas week and erupted in an on-air gaffe that cost one couple $800,000. But a year ago Pollak surprised many when he agreed to host Fox's Our Little Genius. True, it had all the makings of a sure thing: big-name producer - Mark Burnett; killer time slot - airing behind TV's top show American Idol; and adorable kid prodigies showing off their knowledge for cash prizes.

How do you resolve an $800,000 mistake? When Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti competed on the Dec. 20 premiere of Fox's Million Dollar Money Drop, they lost $800,000 when they answered a question about Post-it Notes. The duo bet that amount that the popular office supply was sold in stores before the Sony Walkman and the Macintosh computer. The couple's answer was deemed incorrect by the show, which claimed the Walkman hit shelves in 1979 and that Post-Its debuted in 1980. But the game show has owned up to making an error: Executive producer Jeff Apploff admitted to CNN that Post-Its were "originally tested for...

The couple who lost $800,000 on Fox's "Million Dollar Money Drop" thanks to faulty research on the show's part has been invited back -- but they won't be getting the money they lost in the meantime.
Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti were the first contestants on the new game show last week, and they rolled through four of seven questions with ease, keeping $880,000 of the $1 million they were given to start the game. Then came the fifth question: Which was sold in stores first, Post-Its or the Walkman? Okoye bet $800,000 on Post-Its, which the show said was wrong.
Except it wasn't. After a storm of online criticism over the answer (Post-Its weren't sold nationwide until after the Walkman but had appeared in some stores first), "Money Drop" executive producer Jeff Apploff admitted the goof in a statement last week and said that Okoye and Mayti were welcome to return if they wished.

"Million Dollar Money Drop" host Kevin Pollak says the couple who lost $800,000 on a question that turned out to be correct would have lost the money anyway, since they got the question that followed it wrong. "They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what," Pollak told The Hollywood Reporter. "They got the last question wrong. None of the clips show the last question." Widely circulated clips of Gabe Okoye and Brittany Mayti show their despair after they correctly answer a question by saying Post-It notes were...

Last week, Gabe Okoye and Brittany Matyi, who lost $800,000 in "Million Dollar Money Drop", were invited back to the game show. It was revealed that their answer for a question given by host Kevin Pollak had been wrongly deemed incorrect.
The couple risked the money on one question, "Which product was sold in stores first, the Macintosh computer, the Post-It Note, or the Sony Walkman?" Gabe confidently chose "post-it notes", but they were told that Walkman came out a year before the post-it notes.
In fixing the error, Fox released a statement, "Unfortunately, the information our research department originally obtained from 3M regarding when Post-it notes were first sold was incomplete. As a result of new information we have received from 3M, we feel it is only fair to give our contestants, Gabe and Brittany, another shot to play Million Dollar Money Drop."

Last week, Fox debuted a new game show for the holiday week called Million Dollar Money Drop. Is it a good investment for the network? Will it stick around or be cancelled?
On Million Dollar Money Drop, host Kevin Pollak starts out the game by handing over $1 million to a pair of contestants. To keep it all, they must answer seven multiple choice questions correctly. The couple can distribute their cash on more than one answer but must use it all. They lose whatever cash they put on incorrect answers and must watch as it drops out of sight through trap doors. The contestants get to keep however much cash, if any, they have after answering all seven questions.

Which one of these advertising icons is the oldest: Ronald McDonald, Smokey the Bear or The Trix Rabbit? That was the sixth question on the Dec. 22 episode of "Million Dollar Money Drop" on Fox that secured a couple $240,000 dollars. Do you know the answer? You should if you read the headline for this article.
The answer was Smokey the Bear, who was first introduced to the public via a poster on Aug. 9, 1944. Smokey is 66 years old and is the most recognized image of the Us Forest Service, helping to prevent forest fires. Trix Rabbit is the Jane Brady of the trio at 53 years-old, while Ronald McDonald is the baby at the ripe old age of 47.
If the Google Trends rankings are any indication, most game-show watchers cheated as Smokey the Bear, Ronald McDonald and Trix the Rabbit are all in the top 20. In case you haven't watched, here's the premise:...

'Million Dollar Money Drop' executive producer Jeff Apploff stands by the now-infamous Post-It question from Monday night's premiere that saw a couple lose $800,000 on an incorrect answer.
While the show said the sticky notes were introduced in 1980, bloggers pointed out that 3M's website made it seem as if they were introduced earlier.
"The integrity of the questions and answers on our show are our No. 1 priority," Apploff said in a statement. "In this case, our research team spoke directly with 3M, and they confirmed that although they had given out free samples in test markets in 1977 and 1978, it wasn't until 1980 that Post-Its were sold in stores. 'Million Dollar Money Drop' stands behind the answer that was revealed on the show."

This week marked Larry King's last week on Larry King Live (but watch out for his next career in standup comedy!), and this week is also a barren wasteland when it comes to new TV.
Luckily, there's a fun way to pass the time, honor Larry King's passing (...out of the cable world) and say hi to some of your favorite TV stars: "The Larry King Game"!
A little context: Kevin Pollak (host of Million Dollar Money Drop) is also the host of "The Kevin Pollak Chat Show," and he has a tradition with his celebrity guests called "The Larry King Game," in which they do an impression of Larry King. That usually means at least three things: Leaning over and doing the husky Larry King voice, making up a gross or weird anecdote (usually about being really old), and then "taking a call" from a weird-sounding town.

Last night on Fox's 'Million Dollar Money Drop,' a couple bet on which product was sold in stores first: the Macintosh computer, the Sony Walkman or Post-It notes.
The pair was convinced the answer was Post-Its, but lost $800,000 when host Kevin Pollack told them their answer was incorrect -- it was the walkman. However, according to Gawker, their answer was right all along.
Though Post-It notes didn't go on sale nationally until 1980, they were sold in test markets as early as 1977. It's not clear whether Fox will correct the mistake.

If you caught the new game show Million Dollar Money Drop last night, you watched contestants feverishly battle it out through a round of seven questions all in effort to keep their million dollars in cash (and yes, the bricks of money are the real deal…authentic snippers and armed guards are on the production payroll!). What you didn’t see was Larry King imposter, aka tv/film actor & Mdmd game show host, Kevin Pollak give his best “Larry”. Anyone that follows Pollak via twitter and on the web knows he has a thing for the “King”, so when we caught up with him backstage we asked, “What would go down if Captain Kirk and Larry King partnered up for a little Money Dollar Money Drop action?” Watch to see how it plays out…

Million Dollar Money Drop (Monday, 8/7c, Fox)
This is how game-show sensations are born — and Fox certainly hopes this will be their version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. Airing Monday-Thursday this week (Tuesday and Wednesday's installments air at 9/8c, with a two-hour finale on Thursday), this game, hosted by comedian Kevin Pollak, is pretty simple. Contestants are asked multiple-choice questions with a million dollars in cash on the line. They put the cash on the answers they think are correct — one must always be left blank — and if they're wrong, the cash they've distributed on the wrong answer disappears down a chute. Panic sets in pretty quickly. The two-hour premiere goes head-to-head with the finale of NBC's holiday hit The Sing-Off.
Men of a Certain Age (Monday, 10/9c, TNT)
Yes, Virginia, there are some new episodes of non-reality series airing this week. You just have to know where to look for them.

'Million Dollar Money Drop' (8Pm, Fox) series premiere
Teams are given $1 million -- for reals -- upfront, then have to answer seven multiple choice questions correctly to keep it. Oh yeah, it sounds easy, which means it isn't, of course, especially with a million smackeroos on the table. Comedian, and Web show host, Kevin Pollack hosts this remake of the British game show which sounds deceptively simple and, in addition to being, well, not -- simple, that is -- does prove to be completely addictive viewing. The show launches tonight and airs for the next three evenings, so gather the fam, tune in and prepare 1) to debate what you would do when faced with the multiple choice questions and 2) to get very hooked on this (for now) limited-run series.

After watching them and reading my list, I hope you're just as excited about this silly show as I am. What's more fun than watching a gigantic pile of money get slowly sucked down a bunch of tubes? As the birthday festivities around the world for Larry King come to an end, we thought we’d bring the celebration to a close with an exclusive birthday shout out from famed actor/comedian/new game show host (and Larry King fan), Kevin Pollack. Random? Sort of! Anyone that follows Pollack knows he hosts his own web show on i-tunes and youtube that features in-depth interviews and conversations with fellow Hollywood actors & actresses. In addition to the chat, Kevin has his guests pay a sort of homage to Larry King. Random? Yes! – But very funny too! So in the spirit of randomness, and in honor of Mr. King’s b-day, we share the following shout out with you. Enjoy – and remember… You can catch the new adreneline infused Kevin Pollack hosted game show, Million Dollar Money Drop, December 20 on Fox!… And catch Kevin’s weekly web chat on i-tunes and youtube.
